Just because you get 'permission to board' for a day of boating does not mean you should do so without any due diligence. If you're going into the open ocean, how much experience does this captain have? Does the boat have more than one engine? Are you cool with your loved ones getting a check if they never see you again? No check? Just sayin'. Sure, I'm getting old, but I have minimums for ocean travel...50 foot minimum hull size, more than one engine, decades of experience behind the wheel and I can truly relax if the hull is steel and has massive diesel engines. I'm not afraid of boats, I have one and I love to get it airborne, just not in the ocean with a hurricane the size of Texas on the radar.

waves were so bad. had to make a trip to bimini, bahamas on monday, waves were 6-9 feet tall. luckily the hurricane has passed
