I had an infestation of fleas in our travel trailer. They were EVERYWHERE! inside and out. The dogs were infested, too. I used a flour sifter to coat everything with Diatometious Earth, and it fixed the problem in a couple of days. No chemicals.

I get sand fleas, flys, and gnats every summer, an easy way to get them gone, especially inside or anywhere you can power a light bulb/globe, place a large dish or tray on the floor or ground that is at least 1 inch tall, fill it with 1" of water, and add a few drops of dishwashing soap or any liquid soap, soap breaks the surface tension, place a light bulb facing down towards the water, about 8" to 12 " away from water and turn on. I use a light from an old lamp. During the night the bugs will go to the light looking for the sun, hit the light, and drop in the water. Dead!!!

Are you guys familiar with a product called diatomaceous earth? If not, it's a finely powdered, natural bug control. As bugs like fleas, with a hard outer shell, crawl thru it their outer covering is cut into and they dehydrate and die. I worked many years in a farm store and we sold tons of it. When my sister had chickens she mixed it in with the bedding to control mites. There's two kinds, food grade and regular. You'd want to use the food grade. It's even safe to use directly on the animals, you just don't want them to directly inhale it, or yourselves. You can use it in many different ways to control a large variety of bugs, even in the house. Anyway, research it and see if you think it would work for you.
Very nice cardboard pots. They remind me of the ones Andrea makes, (Nick and Andrea), from heavy, brown paper. I will remember both ways as I plan to start seeds early, indoors, next year. I'm also going to try using egg cartons. I'm starting my very first little garden this year. All trial and error. By next year I'll have more experience. I've learned alot from watching my chosen community of youtube homesteaders. You all are amazing!! It's funny that I live in the US and my 4 most favorite channels are from Portugal. And one each in Italy, Spain and France. 😁!!
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you can do with that little water hole the girls dug up. I so hope that it will become a viable water source for you.
See you next week. Take care!! 🥰🌿♥️

Thanks so much Meg. We looked it up and it looks great for bug control. We had tried to look for it here once a few years back, I think it might have been for our worm bin but hadn't found it anywhere but we will try and get our hands on it for next time x x And yes egg cartons are great too . I wish you the very best of luck for your garden. May your first year be full of delicious veggies . Have a great week x x

the wine bottle plant pots are a brilliant idea. i have used toilet paper-rolls, but as they are pretty small the seedlings can’t stay in very long. Depending on the season and kind of seeds, these bigger pots can be very useful. Tks for the tip.

Hi Silverchair. If I had to live in Malta it would be gozo as it not as developed as Malta and there is still a decent amount of 'nature'... But property is not cheap. And if you want some land it will cost millions. To put things in perspective our land is seven times smaller than my hometown of Sliema.. (population 13000)
Apart from the cost Malta is a bit overpopulated for our liking.. I do miss the sea though 😄
