Wait...so you went through the pain and discomfort of a feeding tube placement just to make a video. You are amazing, brave, and dedicated. The same goes for your fiancé. Thank you for making this awesome and informative video.
I wouldn't do that but I did always wonder what it was like for the kids, i've done it numerous times to my kid but it's good to know how it actually feels, especially the difference if they rip straight out vs how it feels hours later. Thankyou :)
You two are AMAZING. Young lady, your bravery and care for others is highly honorable and beautiful. Thank you for sharing and educating us. From, Texas
Stumbled on this while watching Frey Life, and I'm impressed that you were able to make this video even though you no longer use an NG tube for feeds. I've only had a tube placed once, because they needed to check for GI bleeding, and it was terrifying and I threw up a lot. It was a large tube because they were just using it to pump my stomach, but they did mention they may have to leave it in place. The nurse was learning and it was really hard for me. Thank you for sharing this for those who need it. Watching this made me less afraid of having it done in the future if it ever needs to be done again.
The human body is an amazing machine and your man is the most patient loving person. Well done on this video helping those with the same condition learn how to do this.
Maggie, thanks for the demo, luckily I only ever had a NG tube inserted once for about a week post op. I recall it was one of the most uncomfortable procedures I had, give me a chest drain any day. I can only imagine what it was like for you to have to do that every night. I came across your UA-cam channel when I was preparing to have ileostomy surgery, I have found it most informative, I find your vlog inspiring, it has certainly helped my through my journey with Crohn's. P.S. Kudos to Zak, I can clearly see he was a little uncomfortable inserting the tube. Congratulations on your engagement.
She has a right to ask ... and she asked nicely and wasn’t pushy so to snap at her saying it none of her business was just uncalled for and it’s not your place to say to begin with ..your right she does address more important things but that doesn’t mean that she is against one video answering questions with her fiancé
Thank you for sharing with strangers. Some of us may be facing having to do this, and vids like these take some of the fear and misinformation away. What a lovely thing you've done for other humans, all the best to you!
BellRain Chan first time I had to do it to a baby I just thought of the steps and tried to keep the emotions out of it. Once done I cuddled the baby and it calmed down quickly. It's not that you're heartless as an RN but you have to do certain things that are painful or uncomfortable to help them and that's how you have to think of it.
I was a youth shelter worker some years back. One of our 'wards' have something similar to the lady in this video. The Boy was under 5 years old. I remember crying the first time I put up his shirt revealing a capped tube on his belly. He cries each time I remove the cap to insert the feeding tube. I finally had a nurse look if I'm doing it right. My procedure is correct. The Boy was just traumatized because his Mom 'hits' him if he wouldn't sit still, why he's placed in our care btw. 😭😭😭
I had one in recently (I’m 16), just giving them support and having others that have had one and experienced it really helps. It was the first NG tube I got and it was so uncomfortable that I was walking around crying and saying I was going to pull it out when others have told me to ask them questions about it and it made me feel better that it was going to be ok 💓
My husband had Esophageal cancer and could not swallow. His gastric feeding tube placed in his intestines cause severe skin burns. After remission another tube was placed in his stomach. This was so much better for him.
Girl more power to you for being able to do it yourself. It's good for him to know just incase if he needed to do it but I had to use it when I was in th3 hospital and I cried like a baby they had to give me pain meds and anxiety meds. They did it twice an I ended up ripping it out an they was going to do it again an this week do surgery to place it in my belly. But I ended up against it. I wish I hadn't and thought about going back but I am so scared about the tube. Everyone keeps telling me because of th3 guide wire being in it it made it more uncomfortable. Once that cane out then it wouldn't have been so bad. Plus I have nerve gldamage so it didn't help either. Prayers to you to get threw whatever you got.
I messed up my life with throat problems and still have effects of it...so I know how tough that is I had my throat scoped a lot...that in itself is enough to make a grown man shed a tear or 2...but I bet that takes even more endurance
It works better if you can see it down your throat and then flush the whole thing down with water rather then trying to push it down with force, uhm drink lots and lots of water while doing this. It makes the process a whole lot less painful and a whole lot easier!
When I had the feeding tube in, every time I swallowed I sneezed and eventually the tube came up my throat and out my mouth. This was tried several times but each time I sneezed it up. I ended up getting fed intravenously which meant I was attached 24/7. It seems that I have a very ticklish sneeze sensitivity. I sneeze when some foods go to the back of my throat, and I go into a sneezing fit when I vomit.
during the tough part of my anorexia recovery I had to have a tube placed about 4 times a day for 2 months. It was not a pleasant experience. You got used to it but bloody noses were a real thing
Despues q lo flusheaste le dejaste agua adentro si hubiera quedado en pulmon cuando pasaras la jeringuilla con aire el agua hubiera quedado en pulmon. Tenias q sacar el agua del tubo completamente
FYI just because I keep getting this question - I NO LONGER need a feeding tube. I did this video for education!
nawww! 💖❤️💚💜✨🌹
I can't believe you did that for education.. I hate it so much.. Whenever nurse do it in hospital I'm crying (I'm 23).
Did this opt help ??
Hai im from indonesia
@@igtvchanell348 Hi
I am so proud of Zak! I am thankful you have him and he clearly loves you!
Aw thank you! I will be sure to tell him that - he was very brave during this video!
Wait, you put in a feeding tube for educational purposes? You didn't even need one? That's true commitment!
Oh yea 😂
She said she's done it to her self a hundred times so at the time I think she did need it, but ended up not needing it anymore.
@@JenLovesBenz at the time this video was made she was no longer tube feeding, but at one point she was tube feeding herself.
She’s the real MVP!

he's not brave..he's pussy whipped. he'll do anything she asks.
We did it in med school on each other for practice. ^^
But we only went down into the stomach, not all the way to the jejunum.

She is so pleasant and makes it seem all so easy and normal. What a sweet guy to help her.

Have you ever had a sore around your stoma
How did you meet your fiancé? You should do a Q& A about you two and his perspective on everything!
MissM
None of our business. Maggie tells us about much more important things, just hope he's good enough for her.

What a girl! Sam must be so proud of her.
Omg you let him take a tube in and take it out just to learn! That’s dedication.
I can't imagine doing that on a kid! I wouldn't be able to.😭

This was very interesting. I admire your positive attitude!
I love you guys, I'm just happy to find you both ! Thanks again
So inspirational 💗you’re so brave, must make it so much better and make it much easier when the person you love is doing it for you 😊💓

Omgggg girl you are so brave , tbh I would prefer to die than to go through that pain with a tube on my nose , you are soooo brave 💜
That‘s such a stupid and ignorant thing to say. You Would NOT rather die
@@leonies.6211I would
I have had many NG tubes in my life time. But never a feeding tube. I don’t remember the tube going in but remember when it was taken out.

I had an NJ for 6 months and I had to secure it the duoderm and tegaderm or else it'd get caught and pull out. I now have a permanent Jtube.
You do a great job at having a feeding tube put in, it’s obvious you’ve done it many times!
Oh God why am I still complain cause after wearing my heels 👠 my feet 🦶 hurts too much. You’re so brave
Oooooooooooh I wanna vomit watching this. I can’t believe people do this, y’all are so brave and stronger than I could ever be.
Wow amazingly done but FYI dis was quite unsterile.....as a nurse ...just one advice....while measuring never let da NG touch ur skin.....😊😊😊
In the hospital - yes! At home, it is a different environment. Gloves and sterile technique is not done at home :) also a nurse!
You're strong girl
2 years later, subbed since i have crohns. Very interesting
You guys are amazing ❤️❤️❤️
dude ive had 4 tubes and only one i was awake for and i sobbed i couldnt imagine doing it everyday aaaaa
I feel so bad, my God she is SO brave!
Zak is the man!
I- I think I have to go through that wish me luck..........
I find it easiest to not use the wire and curl the tube around my fingers before putting it in so it's curved down
Your a lucky girl you have a right partner God bless you both
We love you. Please take care yourself always. Love from Philippines
Why do you need a feeding tube?
You are so brave and beautiful ❤️, sorry about your fiancé, but I'm already in love with you 😍
You found a great guy for yourself there!
You're such a strong person

I think you have a sleeping doggie snoring in the background . Lol
do you still do tube feeds?
kimtomlinson2 Pretty sure she said she hadn't had a tube in 3 years and that was a demonstration as well.
A real og for doing this for us 😂

I salute you lady. You are brave man. I love you
He is awesome! Dont know what I'd do without him!
I don't know she is brave but most of time whenever I saw her video I felt
You have such a sweet husband
Is it strange that I got a croyn disease add before this started?
I can’t believe you did that for a video! I know how painful it is.

Soy un RN y he sido entrenado en esto y me hice esto por bastante tiempo, no te preocupes.
Sounds like the dog is board so he decided to go to sleep
Oh god I had one in the hospital after my stroke for a bit and I kept pulling it out. So uncomfortable!
She’s amazing, he’s a bit clumsy.
I would love to try having one put in
Is this similar to cancer but you get to stay at home.
This video was uploaded on my birthday!
He is so nice (Zak)
Hi sweetheart you are so beautiful .and so full of life
This is my first time watching your videos
Great video, looked so uncomfortable though so props for doing it

You are amazing!!!
Zax looked super nervous
It's Anna kendrick
Last time I got one I gagged
Wow, you are a champ.
Is this like an NG tube? It looks as bad as an NG tube.
Was anyone else holding their breath during this
I had that too
I like you both Thanks for The INFO
Isnt dat painful
You're so cute like a baby deer
do you have a g-j tube instead of a regular g-tube
Neither- I had an NG
Very painful 😢😢😢😢
Forgive my ignorance, but can you not eat any normal foods?
Well done girl!! I did it great 👍
you should put a NG tube in Zak.
Where are your guys gloves????
I wish I didnt have to answer this a hundred times. This is not a sterile procedure. At home, almost NO ONE uses gloves.
i felt bad for her
youre strong I dont know wat to say
So you did this every day???
Not anymore, but for about a year when I was 12 I'd do this each night!
