American red tails are predatory the Asian red tails are also predatory but added to that they are very aggressive once fully grown it'll most likely kill everything in the pond
School girl error! Too many people think theese can be housed with others and it is not recommended at all especially another catfish from a different part of the world. If you did the right research in the shop you'd have known you was going to end Your red tails future very quickly. also the red tail had signs of irritation scratching his back which was not a good time to add another fish as the red tail was stressed out adding another would have stressed the red tail out more causing it to be weak and less defensive meaning the Asian redtail would eliminate it. That's how they are ive had 1 Asian red tail 6 years and only seen him swim round the tank a hand full of times they only come out at night really unless really really hungry and will search for it also alow enough oxygen as the Asian red tail will surface and grut during the night, something to think about oh and they don't really like sand either. Good luck
Not a good idea to feed goldfish, a better option are guppies or rose reds, also a smart idea to quarentine your feeders as they are not very well taken care of at the pet shop
. Asia kills SA . This fish are fighters like creazy cichlids. I have 5 asian redtails in a 500000L pond with some other fish and they fight everything, the other thing is they grow bigger as the SA redtails not havy'r but Longer. Cool is you can keep the ART in far cooler water. Watch him when the sun goes down and in the night with low light, its like fast and furious in your pond. But This fish should not get selled in markets.
I just found out about this asian redtail catfish as well and found your video. how is he doing these days
What size tank did you have them in together?
65 but I ended up moving the Asian redtail to my 800 gallon pond
