History: Assyrians are the indigenous people of modern day countries of Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Syria; as Assyria once existed amongst these countries. Going to Iraq, the homeland of our ancestors, is a big deal, especially for those of us in the diaspora, as we are able to see where our lineage comes from.

We are not Assyrian but we follow literlagy of assryians ...we are syro Malabar,syro malakara ,and jacobate ..we share 18 percentage of population in Kerala a star of India ...we have realation with them according to the heritage st.thomas appostule of our master Jesus Christ..I hope you are a orthodox Christian right..

Hello, yes this trip was a part of the Assyrian Church of the East. Gishru also hosts yearly trips to Assyrians (at least 50%).

Why Assyrians do not have a homeland.

After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Britain and France had talks over how to separate the land in the Middle East. Assyrians were involved in these talks, and were promised they would receive land called "Assyria." Unfortunately, during the Sykes-Picot agreement, they chose to divide the land and call the country "Iraq" so that the country does not favor one ethnicity i.e. the Assyrians. This agreement is hated by the Assyrians, Arabs, and Kurds alike, due to the unrest it has left in the Middle East.
