Drum Major leads Ballater Pipe Band playing on the march during 2023 Aboyne Highland Games

Drum Major Ian Esson leads Ballater & District Pipe Band onto the Games field ready for the Drum Major's competition during the 2023 Aboyne Highland Games. These were held on a rather wet Saturday 5th August 2023 at Aboyne in Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and the band were playing "When the Battle's o'er" and "Lochanside".
Having formed in 1867, Aboyne is regarded as "The Traditional Highland Games" and continues to attract thousands of visitors to watch this wonderful display of Scottish culture in one of the most scenic parts of Aberdeenshire.

Didn’t you know, I am a talented musician. I can play like seven different instruments drums guitar, piano ukulele a bit of violin learning the saxophone but my favourite instrument is the bagpipes. Also, I’m in an Irish pipe band. that’s where I got my pipes from.
