Even in Nutshell it's hard to understand the the story, this movie is revolutionary in many ways, sci-fi also slow motion yahi se popular hua tha.
Story is simple, robots have taken over the world and put the humans into sleep and making them dream. In sleep humans think they are not sleeping and everything is normal. Like us watching youtube, eating food, growing up all this is fiction, not real. This is called matrix. Some guys woke up from the sleep and now they trying to destroy this matrix system. Those 3 robots in suit were guards of matrix in imaginary world, they kill whoever tries to escape matrix.
if you watch the prequel anime movie..it will be easy..

I was 3 when I watched this on our VCR. Can't believe I understood the whole movie at one shot and used to call bad guy agent Smith as virus all the time, although unaware of it's meaning. Wtf nostalgia 😭.

Just in case you anyone didn't understand it, Neo was initially lived inside a dream created by machines while they used his body in the real world to generate power. Morphed helps him wake up from this dream. The rest of the movie involves getting inside this dream "matrix" and doing various shit.
You can't really be sure whether your real life is a dream or a simulation
just in case anyone didn't know... war between human and Machine started because human treated machine like slave and they also destroyed one innocent robot... and machine won because half of humans who wanted rights for everyone were with machine... and when humans lost and everything was destroyed they suggested machine to create a virtual world...
the first world they created was perfect and everyone had what they wanted... because of which people started suspecting and waking up.. so they created second world which was like real world... where people had to struggle and work to survive.. but still some of them woke up.. and they started killing those who wake up... sometimes in virtual world a hacker like neo used to be born which machine couldn't detect... so machine intentionally wake up some humans and told tham that the hacker would save them and made them search for hacker... but reality is hacker's power only work inside matrix... when the hacker is found they give him two choices..
1. destroy current world kill everyone who woke up and build new matrix..
2. do nothing and machine will kill everyone including the hacker.. and itself create new world...
almost every hacker (except Neo) chose first option... morphios was woke up by that hacker and he brainwashed him saying "he will be born again and save the world".. that's why morphios believe in Neo..
as for agent Smith, he is a abnormal program like virus... agent job is to stop human from entering or leaving matrix.. but smith started controlling the world...
I have seen all 3 movies in this franchise more times than I can count but it always felt like I was watching each of them for the first time...
