My moment of the week : Ted Barton freaking out after Kevin aymoz‘ free skate . He tried to slink away from the microphone .. but we heard you mate . You had tears in you eyes . We all had 😅
love seeing Jonathan. Dave and Jonathan have such great chemistry. Nolan is awesome too. Everybody come back ALL the time. You better ALL be back next week to trash Skate Canada, this comes from a Canadian, haha:) Please bring on Meagan D.
Olivia has said that Madison Chock designed their costumes and when comparing those high concept, very well done Dune costumes to Chock and Bates' costumes.... It just makes them look good, fine, nice
@@joannm.1756 it wasn't. Love Maddie Hubble but Olivia was talking about Madison Chock who designs all their costumes. The Dune costumes even look like something Chock and Bates would wear
Was anyone else frustrated watching the skaters struggle with the smaller rink size here? Many of the men's botched jumping passes (especially quad salchows) seemed to be the result of running out of room! Or, they were clearly taking odd angles into elements to make them fit. It must be really challenging for the pairs and ice dancers. Seems unfair to all the skaters. I wish the ISU had a standard for rink sizes at big events; Olympic size or close to it should be the norm.
Yay! Jonathan - don’t get me wrong Nolan is lovely and intelligent - but also glad to have Jonathan back and congratulations on the appointments - well deserved. Dave you have a huge roster of such impressive people. A huge thank you from the UK for all that you do.
Wow, it's been a while since I've seen Jonathan! Welcome back, sir! It's been a while, what with work and school, but looks like you guys have been busy. Skate America 2024 was much more enjoyable than I thought it would be, even in ice dance! Surprised that Fear/Gibson won over Chock/Bates, but good for them. Miura/Kihara did great as usual, and great for Wakaba for winning gold here! The new senior/former junior ice-dance winners did wonderfully. Yay for Kevin Aymoz for winning silver here, and Ilia Malinin won as expected. The Gala exhibition was just fun to watch, and I'm glad I got to see so many excellent performances. I can't wait for Friday for Skate Canada!
Dave: that hoodie was from Ilia’s new clothing line. I’m all for it if it brings in the youth to skating. I’m afraid I’m with the Prevagen/AARP crowd as a substantial portion of the American crowd is. My 18 yo g-daughter wanted a hoodie for x-mad
Thanks Guys. I think I watched a different Skate America. Loved Chock and Bates FS. Loved the Led Zeppelin number. Loved Ilia. And really loved Dennis.
I think Jean-Luc Baker should be offered the high performance director job at US Figure Skating. The quality of U.S. skating is absolutely horrible these days (in general but not all skaters) and we need someone to step in and help to develop those skills in the skaters at the top. His commentary is OUTSTANDING!
It’s not just you: the crowd’s reception to Lucas - particularly for his free - was exceptionally warm in person. Not sure how well that conveyed on screen. I desperately hope his physical health holds and he continues to compete for some time, because my dreams of seeing even the faintest echo of John Curry’s work in present-day skaters are vested in him alone. (No pressure, kid!)
This native San Diegan had no idea there was a Fake San Diego in New Jersey! A survey trip may be in order 😂 But not in winter, we don’t do that ❤❤❤ you both!
I happened to watch skate America with the same non skating people I did last season. The type of people who can’t tell the difference between a triple toe and a quad axel. Each time they all had a “wow” response to Kevin. They loved him To the point they are considering attending World’s in Boston to see him perform. When it came to Ilia I had to explain what he’s doing and why he is winning. So unless you are a knowledgeable skating person ilia comes off as very bland and not very interesting.
1:28:20 Katelyn Osmond's Sous le ciel de Paris and M'Lord Edith Piaf was one of my standout favourite women's programs there ever has been. Thank you for bringing it back to the fore of my mind again.
I missed you Jonathan glad you're back. I watched al the dance performances my new favorites are Leah Neset and Artem Markelov I think they have a very bright future. There is something about them that I haven't seen in a very long time. I know they are very young and will have to do there time before getting any recognition . Yes I really liked Fear and Gibson he really is special .
Nice to see Jonathan back! Thank you for suggesting that there be follow-up with Kevin. I hope he stays well. As for Chock and Bates, I've never been a fan and I continue to think they are over marked.
I remember when i started watching figure skating regularly (not that long ago) and the first version of Nessun Dorma i got was Radionova's. Still have fond memories of that first time!
Chock and bates: bad short, great long Fear Gibson: mid short, mid long. The Beyoncé program is a little bit honey boo-boo. Isabeau: two great programs, squirrely jumps Smart and dieck: great long to annoyingly overused music. But it’s the best of all the dunes Ilia: mid programs, but at least he is portraying a character which is a version of artistic improvement. Kevin: good short, okay long. And those jump landings are 🔥 🔥
I love watching Emily in Paris and Fear & Gibson, fun escapism. I heard Ben Agosto also comment on Lilah's free leg, so you're not alone. Welcome back Jonathan! ETA: Mary Schucker's channel is great, I think she recorded most programs at Skate America and the gala. Great for those who didn’t have a VPN or wanted the fancam view.
Loved Olivia in The Dune costume ,she looked like a runway model on ice ,She was stunning and I’m not at all a Dune person .Obsessed with the hair scarf just beautiful
Dave, I’m also dealing with issues with my obturator internus! I’ve been doing work with the Franklin Method to help rehab it. It’s crazy how chronic upper body pain is connected to the rest of the body. Hope your PT helps!
Enjoyed seeing Jonathan again! I always appreciate his perspective, although I also enjoyed Nolan’s when he was on. You are spot on about Chock & Bates. I was also so happy for both Wakaba & Kevin. But I also know realistically, Kevin is not magically “cured” & results will greatly vary from competition to competition. Still love him as a skater though as he is so creative. Isabeau definitely needs to do something different. Quite honestly, her programs are a snooze fest. And her dress for the FS is a real miss unless she changes her program to soundtrack from Peter Pan. Her programs are just so forgettable & I can tell she has the personality to do something different to rectify that.
welcome Jonathan! Things I want to comment! 1. C/B program reminds me of the one (I think was Elvis) were she looked like a Hollywood start and I believe she could be here that as well 2. Amoz come back it's amazing but I don't get why he is allowed to lie on the ice for so long. I don't get stsq4 since he was jumping a lot and not lot of edges. 6 The thing about the marriages is to be studied for legal purposes. 7. I don't see that many improvement in Malinin performance 8. Nobody mentioned the save for his life the Georgian guy made in the second jump (maybe third)! Thanks for another This and That Dave!!

Bless you for calling attention to Jean Luc's insightful practice commentary. Give him more air time.
I missed you a lot Jonathan !! I love how you comment!! Welcome back !!
Madi's dresses were top notch...especially the one she put on Olivia Smart
Jonathan- you have been so missed!!! I hope you had the most wonderful summer ever. Welcome back!
I really like both Nolan and Alissa but your dynamic with Jonathan is just unmatched! Loved this recap❤
Jonathan is back 😍 Welcome back Jonathan, so happy you're back to complete our fav figure skating duo!
My moment of the week : Ted Barton freaking out after Kevin aymoz‘ free skate . He tried to slink away from the microphone .. but we heard you mate . You had tears in you eyes . We all had 😅
I was happy for Kevin Aymoz too.
love seeing Jonathan. Dave and Jonathan have such great chemistry. Nolan is awesome too. Everybody come back ALL the time. You better ALL be back next week to trash Skate Canada, this comes from a Canadian, haha:) Please bring on Meagan D.
I liked Nolan’s perspective also. Maybe a bit of both
The world is healing omg! Welcome back Jonathan. This event was a mess!
Thank you both for doing this! So fun to listen to and I always learn a lot.
I have missed Jonathan so much - and I'm thrilled to see him back!
Oh, Jonathan, How I've missed you!!!!!! So glad you're back!

JONATHAN!!!!!!!! I missed you sooooooooo much! ❤
Thanks for the quick upload Dave! and welcome back Jonathan!
Thanks Dave ! I am a HUGE Fan and thank you for all that you and TSL have done for skating -
Me any the other ladies who skate at PSCHS just ADORE TSL ❤
I’ve been refreshing all day for this 👀 Welcome back, Jonathan!!
Love Jonathan - welcome back! And thanks Nolan for contributing over the summer.
Welcome back Jonathan we missed you 🤩🌷💚
Olivia has said that Madison Chock designed their costumes and when comparing those high concept, very well done Dune costumes to Chock and Bates' costumes.... It just makes them look good, fine, nice
I thought Madison Hubbell designed it.
@@joannm.1756 it wasn't. Love Maddie Hubble but Olivia was talking about Madison Chock who designs all their costumes. The Dune costumes even look like something Chock and Bates would wear
Seemed like Breakfast at Tiffany’s brought out some of Isabeau’s personality
Exactly what I thought - I really want her to relax more into it - she is very engaging
I thought Isabeau was lovely overall for both programs. I know the jump technique isn't perfect, but the program is nice to watch.
Was anyone else frustrated watching the skaters struggle with the smaller rink size here? Welcome back Jonathan.
Welcome back, Jonathan! We missed you.
Overjoyed to see Jonathan!
I enjoy the Rhythm Dance last year and this year. I know you will judge me for that.
So glad you are back Jonathan!!

So happy to see Jonathan but Nolan has been doing a great job too and now I miss him, LOL
The whole TSL family is just too watchable! I might join their Patreon just to see Jenny again. 😅
Same, but I find the episodes with more than 2 people too chaotic for me, so I’d rather Jonathan and Nolan rotate between recapping competitions.
Yeah Jonathan's back!!!!!🎉

Great to see Jonathan back! I also hope that Nolan is not gone for good and we will occasionally be able to see him with Dave.
Lucas landed some of the most beautiful quad toes in practice I’ve ever seen in my life
He really did some gorgeous quad toes.
I remember when i started watching figure skating regularly (not that long ago) and the first version of Nessun Dorma i got was Radionova's. Still have fond memories of that first time!
Lisa McKinnon made Isabeau's short programme dress, which I'd guess is why it's so different from her usual dresses (not sure who usually makes them?)
they are made by a woman in Russia, I believe the shop is named Axel Trend Sport or something along those lines
Also love SP dress. Reminds me of a simple blue dress Mariah Bell wore.
I love Isabeau's costumes this year.
Chock and bates: bad short, great long
Fear Gibson: mid short, mid long. The Beyoncé program is a little bit honey boo-boo.

Also love that you brought up Jamie Silverstein. Justin Pekarek coached me in dance for a bit.
Thus till Kevin starts to kill himself all over the ice -when those jumps are getting derailed-which and when -nobody knows ahead

That Alysa Liu program is one of the few that is slower and builds
In a fun way without weird music cuts

Brady really Hillary Duffs the footwork sequence in her short program.

"run from the dinosaurs!!" :)
Bradie’s SP footwork is tragic. I don’t remember seeing even any men doing that after Yagudin. It’s delusional choreography.
More like -you are dumb:her choreographer-Best in world -name him ?
I feel like she's going for high character to try to distract from her footwork not being there yet...
@@ckilbarger01don’t think it can ever get there though
I don't think Bradie is at the level to be able to do that style of stsq justice. Her skating skills and performance is not there yet
