Lovely bottled history of a character that's been compelling since the 80s! Great to see things collected into a single presentation. I'm a big fan of Iggwilv! She and Grazz't were the power couple behind many campaigns in the Flanaess for my group. Cheers! 🍪☕
Ahh thanks so much. I really enjoy reading about other people's experiences with D&D. I need to go through my 'Art and Arcana' book again actually. There are some brilliant photos of campaigns throughout D&Ds history
I like to think her as a character who is still chaotic but a controlled form of chaotic. She'd still do wild and unpredictable things but she alreaky planed the consequences of her actions. As for her views on kindness, I see it more as a conditional kindness, like she uses kindness to get what she wants. I do however like to think that she genuinly cares for her children though, but she is still haunted by her daughter's death which has affected her relationship with Iuz.
Yes I think the death of Drelzna was a catalyst of all sorts of change in behaviour in many ways. The loss profoundly impacted her. I think Drelzna was the only person she loved unconditionally.
I think her transformation has less to do with moving from evil towards good, and more with embracing the idea that she can't simply power her way to safety; even becoming a god hasn't done that for Iuz after all. Her goal is changing, or maybe it's just her methods.
Oh fantastic! Glad to hear. Yeah I always wanted to ground where the campaigns sat within her timeline/development. Another reason I made the video actually, as I knew it would take a lot of time and I had to incentivize it haha
I'm currently playing through The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth in 5e and this is really useful to know as I embark on that Adventure. Once we get to the final area of the Campaign, the Yatil Mountains, this information will be pivotal for the journey since there's a lot of locations that connect back to Iggwilv's Character Arc such as Mordenkainen’s Obsidian Citadel and the Lost Caverns itself.
@@lorenmakesvideos That would be fun. I'm sending anything I can to the GM that runs the Campaign we're doing so we can portray the Characters as accurately as possible. Whatever the case, it's going to be pretty cool now that the GM has this knowledge.
@@blockeontheleafeon That's a really good idea. Especially anything to do with Tasha! Fraz-Urb'luu (Tsojacnth's dad) has really interesting lore actually, so he's worth looking up as well if you're in the mood for a lot of reading haha!
@@lorenmakesvideos I'll be sure to notify the GM then. The Campaign I'm in is an expanded version of the Module now with choices that will change how NPCs perceive us and even more Dungeons and Bosses than just the one we're going to. So far we're in Session 8 and just gotten to the second Town of the Campaign. A secluded forest area ran by Druids. There's way more ground to cover now that we cleared the Kobold's Lair and solved the first Quest diplomatically. We're just getting started on the Adventure to the Lost Caverns.
Love this channel and all the hard work you're putting in! As a small ttrpg channel its great to see others striving to put out great gaming and fantasy related content! Subscribing for the algo and future great videos!
This is something that doesn't happen every day, but your analysis of her character arc has given me a new appreciation of her recent growth. I will admit to my own prejudices involved here; I played in Living Greyhawk, and more than that, I'm from Perrenland. Iggwilv's shadow still hung heavy over the region a century after her tyranny, and it influenced a lot of our Regional adventures. We had our own epithets for her which made sense for us. Seeing her stat block in Wild Beyond the Witchlight as 'Chaotic Neutral' felt as a bit of a cop-out, as if they were attempting rehabilitate a war criminal. However, people grow, and ideally, become 'better' versions of themselves. I can understand what's happening, and why, and am even content with it. I just don't think all of my player characters from that time would be of a similar mindset. I can see my Paladin being most distraught when her Smite Evil doesn't work like it should. Please make more videos. Thank you.
That is such a compliment thank you! As I was writing the script I didn't really know what I'd uncover from a development sense, but as I was going along I kept seeing a recurring theme of ambition cropping up and that she had to overcome that to be a better person. You've raised an interesting point though that could work well - especially in roleplaying, Tasha has deeply wronged a lot of people so how would a character respond to her calmer and kinder nature when they have lived experience of what she was like in her previous lives?
Yes def, I prefer the term story circle than hero's journey (even though it's derived from that) because of this, as it's more neutral. Also it's always changing depending on what new lore is introduced
It's hilarious people talk about this stuff like it exists in D&D campaigns other than their own. You know it's just a set of rules, right? There literally can't be any "lore" because that part is usually up to the DM. If your DM is making you play stupid, canned campaigns you need to find another one.
Who is your favourite 'Tasha'?

Thanks for this, great job. Take care and keep on keeping on😎🤘🍻
Thank so much 😊
My favorite Tasha is the one who's in a back-and-forth D/s relationship with Graz'zt. 😅

Really awesome lore I've never heard the whole way through, thanks so much for this and lovely job. :)
Thank you this was my most challenging video to write to date. It was like putting together a puzzle!
Tasha is my favorite of the big names of DnD lore, she's just so cool. Great video! Glad that it was recommended to me. :)
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it :) I was planning to cover her lore for a long while, but had to choose the right time , as she had so much!

It will be interesting to see what happens next in her arc for sure
Great synopsis! Thank you!
Thanks so much, I plan to do more of these character deep dives :)
Great coverage! I plan on running Wild Beyond the Witchlight soon so this was a big help

Excellent research and compilation! Well done -

Yes definitely. I'm tempted to do a deep dive on Graz'zt to try can build up more of her story :)

Sounds fun! Yeah this module has lots of nice lore, which provides great material for the story/roleplaying
Thanks for the dive, Loren Makes Videos. Nice way to start my day.
I'm glad my video got your day off to a good start! Thanks for the lovely comment :)

Definitely not a hero. But perhaps a future hero, should she choose to continue on a redemption arc.
