Wow, you really nailed the Artstyle! :D It's amazing, how you got both into an Interview and also then reviewing your Artworks. Thanks for this Video, it's very entertaining ;P
the modern era post card… it’s so good, it’s making me miss something that never happened i guess by 2015 they were aware that they didn’t have much time left so they stopped doing redesigns and most of the game was in this weird old and new combination (i feel like if club penguin continued like normal, the minigames, post cards etc everything would’ve been remade in the new art style)
Fantastic video! Honestly as someone who has documented a lot of Club Penguin side and talked to a few people (mostly on the music side), it's always really interesting seeing different sides like the art, tbh Club Penguin has one of my fav art styles around. Also I appreciate you covering all the eras and not glossing by some of the later years, which I tend to see a lot in videos like these. Also minor thing regarding the AS terms, I've seen that a lot of people just use it to mean Art Style 1-3 now due to the actionscript thing not being accurate. (most of Club Penguin was in ActionScript 2 even when it first launched and ActionScript 3 was used as early back as 2010 and basically was the main language by like 2012 so I never thought it worked, I personally just go with the term Era 1-3 but I do quite like your classifications, especially with mentions of how they're not super concrete and have a lot of overlap which is something I've realized, also being super nitpicky you could argue 2014 tended to have a slightly different look, mainly noticeable with the more detailed lighting, but that's just me being nitpicky and idk if it would count lolol) Also really nice job on the art as well! I will say that could you maybe mention the Club Penguin music you used for the video specifically? I can help you provide specific credits for songs in the description if you want since I have everything documented.
Mad respect for being willing to step outside your comfort zone with these interviews, Im very excited about the direction this channel is headed. Cant wait to see more from you!
30:00 they really went into professional mode when talking about your drawings, I love it! It gives us a glimpse into their work instead of just being “nice drawing “
Oooh, unexpected choice, but a welcome one! Super cool to be able to finally put faces behind all the artwork I saw so much of as a kid, and even hear some of the stories and reasons behind them! Love that kind of insight. Thank you for the work you put into this series man 🙏
I discovered your channel with the Sonic video, and I was surprised to see another so soon! I really appreciate the amount of detail you go into in these videos. It's genuinely a great starting point for emulating these artstyles. I played Club Penguin for years as a kid. Very big part of my childhood. It's so cool to hear about the thought processes behind how the artstyle evolved over the years. Massive props for actually going back and improving upon the artworks you did based on the critiques you received! I was hoping you'd do it, but I wasn't expecting it. You truly went above and beyond with the effort you put into them.
thanks a lot to this video, club penguin was a huge part of my childhood, specially on third grade too! i´ve discovered this render breakdown series pretty recently and im obsessed with it, so it was pretty fun to see a club penguin episode.
Another banger video my dude!! Every one of these videos it shocks me how much you nail each style lol It was super interesting to see the feedback you got too, always insightfull to get notes from the artists themselves If it ever interested you, it would be sick to see a video breaking down the Danganronpa art styles, the differences in the mainline games' art style can be really subtle but it would be really cool to watch a proper breakdown of what differenciates each game's signature look^^ Keep up the amazing work!!!!!!
This is such an amazing video!! I played Club Penguin so much as a kid and it’s so awesome to revisit these influential art styles and learn about how these things were made. I can say Club Penguin’s art style was definitely a big inspiration for my own art as a adult and learning how it’s made is so cool!
This was such a fun and extremely insightful video! This game is so near and dear to my heart and it's always awesome learning more so long after its end. Thanks for using my little lo-fi cover, it led to me finding your amazing channel :)
I never comment on videos, but I'll do it here. I'm a teenager totally self-taught with Adobe Illustrator, and now have 3 years of experience. Even after many awesome projects and experimentations, I have always search around for how to achieve the Club Penguin art style. It's amazing that with 5,000 views I got this recommended. Thank you very much for the video.
Discovered your channel from the Ace Attorney video, amazing stuff!! If you're open to requests, could you do a Render Breakdown on the art in Kirby Super Star: Ultra? It's very much some kind of 3D render, but I've always wondered how it was done!
2005-2008's artstyle will forever be in my heart and is objectively peak. 2008-2010 is still good and very much acceptable. But after that it fell off a cliff imo. Not to say that the artists were bad. but in the sense that it lost it's charm, the increase in "quality" didn't serve to benefit the feel of the game. Chris' style was so iconic, and it felt cozy; perhaps in large part due to nostalgia when I reminisce nowadays, but I really felt it was something special even at the time. If there's ever a metaverse, I think humanity can agree that it needs to be in Club Penguin. Get Chris back, make it first person; I wanna live there.
Could you do an art breakdown of any of the atlus games? Like Metaphor Refantzio and the Persona series or maybe even some of the disney/pixar artstyles
One of the most easy to draw animal designs, not just for furry art, but before MLP, the penguins design were my spirit animals. The beaks made me want to noseboop them, and their body designs made me want to hug and cuddlw them. I would draw them all the time back then!
Am I the only one who noticed he's wearing Gary's clothes?
Nope, I noticed that, too 😊
is that intentionally gary's clothes because thats such a cute detail if so
haha of course it is!
Wow, you really nailed the Artstyle! :D

Haha this was several interviews across several days!
Love this video! I signed up for Club Penguin in late 2009, and IMO, the gradual progression of the room style guide was noticeable as well.
Bro is going back to my real childhood, so much nostalgia for the last two penguins in the thumbnail
See this, this I appreciate that- attention to later times.
Damn, and I’m nostalgic for the first two.
