Hey everyone hope you enjoyed the reaction! Sorry if the blurring or talking is a little much in this one, wanted to include a lot and had a lot of reactions to this one! Also feel free to watch this in multiple sittings as it is such a long video. See you next for a surprise movie!!
No worries at all! And thank you for all that you do really! In the intro, you were saying that you are really into film and are grateful that not just you are into animated movies that are not kids. Disney animated or any animation is for everyone and I loooove animated movies they are honestly my favorite than live action! I love watching your videos and always click on your video especially when it is an animated movie! Again, thank you for all that you do putting so much effort and passion for us. I pray that you will be blessed and thank you once again!!
Fun fact: Syndrome was inspired by Batman and Robin the director Brad Bird thought to himself “What if Robin was rejected by Batman and felt bitter about it?”
Very interesting! I was kinda getting a more Bucky and Cap vibe between the two. Mr. Incredible: Buddy? Syndrome: My name's not BUDDY! Steve: Bucky? Winter Soldier: Who the hells Bucky?
I think it's ironic how Mr. Incredible wanted to settle down, but Elastigirl didn't. Then because superheroes were forced into hiding, Bob wasn't totally ready to put that chapter behind him, so he kept sneaking off to stay in the game, hesitant to give it up, but Elastigirl who was forced to give up her goal took it by the reigns and took charge of her new life.
Yes it is a nice contrast. Each of them have opposite goals initially, then after the time skip their goals have switched. Bob misses being a hero & Helen has embraced the family life. I think it shows that they've changed a lot over the years. During the interview Bob said he feels like a maid constantly saving the world & seems sick of it...but deep down he loves being a hero & once he retires he is bored out of his mind. Then you have the kids who feel like freaks & just want to fit in, but by the end they love being heroes & the whole family got to have a good bonding experience together. Lots of good character arcs all in one movie.
It just goes to show how flexible she is. It’s her superpower, and not just in a physical way. She’s able to adapt to whatever circumstance she finds herself in, and whatever choice she makes.
Fun fact: Edna is voiced by the film's director Brad Bird. He did a voice demo so the auditioning actresses would have an idea of what he wanted her to sound like, but everyone agreed the voice he did sounded so perfect that they just had him do the voice instead! Also if you have the time, I would check out the short "Jack Jack Attack!" It basically goes over the time Kari spent with Jack Jack and it's hilarious!
Yep. She was originally supposed to be voiced by Lily Tomlin, who as we all know voiced Ms. Frizzle in the Magic School Bus. She listened to Brad’s voiced recording for Edna and felt the director should voice Edna himself.
That moment's so perfect. The music cuts out when he closes his eyes except for a little cue representing his legs on the water and we realize, just as he realizes, that he didn't fall.
@@Ken_Mochi Yes. Usually Good Samaritan laws protect civilians, but a medical official off-duty who saves someone(usually the homeless or poor) who wants to die to escape their life can be sued. Say you give chest compressions to a person drowning. You can be sued. Or you force vomit someone who just inhaled a bottle of pills to OD. Especially when chest compressions end in rib breakage. It's why sometimes the homeless carry "do not resuscitate" papers on them. So if they are brought to a hospital they can be let to die and the doctors don't help. Even saving someone's life can get you in big trouble. If someone is being mugged or assaulted, by all means help. If they cry for help, good chance they won't sue. But if someone is walking in the road and a car is coming - don't try to help, if hit - or if seizuring from drugs on the corner, call 911(or your respective emergency services) and then leave them. It's the best thing for you and others. Is this unfair to the people who might genuinely need help? Yes. But that's the guilt of the fuckers who sue people trying to help instead of just ending their own lives after being helped. If they hate living so much they'll sue someone who helps them if in danger, now endangering genuine people in need, they should just kill themselves.
9/10x someone who collapsed in a parking lot or is choking or just got hit by a car or shot will want help. But 1/10x, it's a person who wants to die. And you just saved an evil demon who hates your guts for being good, and will sue you to the ground even though they want to die. Does it make sense? Not at all. Why do they do it? Not even the Devil himself understands such malevolence. And that 10% ruins 90% of people's lives who now have to wait to be helped.
It makes no sense at all. There's tons of clips where police smartly prevent someone jumping off a building to save their lives. And will obviously get them help since obviously if they let them go they'd be able to do it anyway. It makes absolutely zero sense for a suicidal person to want money. They can literally go attempt it again the next day assuming they're not being prevented by society. Same thing with people who are being arrested who try take suicide pills. They try stop them doing that. So lets stop talking nonsense.
Another Fun Fact: When Hellen says India Golf Niner-Niner it's actually an Easter Egg. If you abbreviate it it becomes IG99. An allusion to "The Iron Giant" released in 1999 and the first movie by director Brad Bird who also voiced Edna in this movie
41:07 Not just that. All those superheroes didn't just lose, they all died. They all got the same offer to be the hero again, and were all met with the same horrifying discovery that it was all a lie.
The film was nominated for 4 Oscars: Best Sound Editing Best Sound Mixing Best Animated Feature Best Original Screenplay. It won Best Animated Feature and Sound Mixing.
It is an absolute *sin* that this was not nominated for Best Original Score! This unironically should have won that year! But, to give credit where credit is due, it is the only animated film to ever win an Oscar in either of the sound categories!
@@taqresu5865 That would be Finding Neverland. It was up against the music scores of Harry Potter, Passion of the Christ, and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
“Honey, where’s my super suit!?” That line never gets old, lol! Man, I remember I was one of the few to experience The Incredibles in a pre-released screening. That was one of the best times I had at the movies. This animated superhero film is very cool in my opinion. Plenty of action, suspense, danger, etc. Also, Syndrome is a pretty fun Pixar villain too. As usual, thanks for the reaction, Nick!
Don't forget to watch the Jack-Jack short before going to Incredibles 2, because not only the second film have a few callbacks from the short but also it shows through the babysitter perspective on what was going on with him when Elestigirl was hearing the phone messages near the end of the film.
Funfact: The kids names are all a play on their powers. Dash = Superspeed Violet = Ultraviolet rays, invisible to the naked eye. Jack-Jack = Jack of all trades.
One of the things that made this movie work is that Brad Bird, the director, didn't want to dumb it down to kids. He took the philosophy, "write what you know," to heart. That argument Bob had with Helen, about how arbitrary it was to have a graduation ceremony for Dash getting to 5th grade, was an argument Brad Bird once had with his wife. By writing the Parr family based on his own family, and not dumbing it down, he made the Incredibles extremely relatable.
The director, Brad Bird doesn't like that The Incredibles is called 'a movie for kids' because he knows animation is not a genre, its another way of telling stories I mean, those who watched this as kids probably didn't understand the heavy implications of the scene where Bob realized Syndrome committed superhero genocide Great video as always ♡♡
same, i didn’t understand a lot of the things when i watched this as a kid! like, i thought the dude at the start fell on accident, i also didn’t really understand it was implied she thought he was cheating, i did understand the thing on the screen meant hero’s were killed but had no idea what that had to do with the machine, etc.
Syndromes name comes from the psychological phenomenon known as Hero's Syndrome. Basically it refers to someone who thinks he's a hero, and will even create life and death scenarios so he can step in and make himself the hero that saves the day.
GOSH The Incredibles is proof to me that the animated film genre is not solely "kids stuff" as so many would write it off as---it has the drama, thrills, nuanced characters, THE ACTING (I'll never get over Holly Hunter's performance, especially in the flight sequence) that's right on par with, or even surpasses those of any other live action flick. Just an amazing movie, and such a thrill to have seen it in theaters! I remember it like yesterday. Fun fact: Helen's call sign on the jet "India Golf Niner-Niner" is Brad Bird's nod to his previous film, The Iron Giant. "IG" for Iron Giant, Niner-Niner for the year of its release. Love that little detail. Also I'll say it again---I LOVE how much of the movie you include in your reactions, I don't care how long they are 😂
Yeah Brad Bird has done interviews talking about how at the time Incredibles was a huge gamble for Pixar. Their previous films had large groups of writers & directors collaborating on the final product, whereas he was in sole command with Incredibles. Also, he constantly wanted to rock the boat, break limits, & do things that had never been done before. Incredibles is the first (& possibly only) Pixar movie with guns, blood, a character saying "they will kill you," the corpse (skeleton) of a dead character, characters drinking alcohol, a married couple having a loud argument & screaming at each other, & a suicide attempt. When you stop & think about it, they REALLY took some crazy risks, but the end result is so good.
I watched this movie as a kid, and there were so many things that flew over my head - at least until it was outright stated, like when that guy tries to commit suicide, or how Syndrome actually *killed* a bunch of superheroes. But that whole subplot about how Helen thought Bob was cheating on her, that completely evaded me as a kid, and I even had the same misinterpretation as Dash when Violet said their parents' marriage was in danger - that is to say, Dash and I both thought she meant the bad guys were trying to wreak Bob and Helen's marriage. Oh, what a naïve child I was.
@@ARCtheCartoonMaster You were not a naive child. You were a NORMAL child. No child should be burdened with such thoughts, it will mess them up for the rest of their lives.
@@pee-buddy But I thought kids were always sneaking into R-rated movies, and watching all the latest action movies like _The Terminator_ and _X-Men_ ? Meanwhile, I was that sheltered kid who always listened to what mummy said, and didn’t even watch movies rated higher than PG. I actually *refused* to see an M-rated movie (the equivalent of PG-13 here in Australia) when I was invited to see it, because I was only 9 when it came out. But nevertheless, I went to see it anyway, because it was for my cousin’s birthday, and I didn’t want to be rude. And funnily enough, that movie was _Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire_ , where the plot is some kid gets roped into something he’s too young for. Funny coincidence, amirite?
Fun fact: In Mr. Incredible’s office when he’s watching the video from Mirage, there’s a picture on his desk of him on a fishing trip and he caught Bruce the shark from Finding Nemo. I always like how there are references to other Pixar films and hints to films that they end up making in the future.
Frozone got lucky because Syndrome was going after every superhero one at a time. Frozone was next on the list, that is who Mirage was scouting that night of the fire. But they did not count on Mr. Incredible to be there too. She didn't even know it was him at first, she called him "the fat guy". But she followed them and saw them use their powers, and she put it together that it has to be Mr. Incredible. And she knows Syndrome is obsessed with him so they had to change plans. Basically, if Bob wasn't with Lucius that night, he probably would have taken the job on the island, and had gotten killed by the robot just like the others. Or maybe he would have survived, but he would have been captured easily since he has no super strength to get passed that security goo that stopped Bob in his tracks.
I know it’s 2 years late but I doubt frozone would have survived. Think about it, the omnidroid was in the south side of the island, and where did the omnidroid push Bob to? a volcano in that area Syndrome would have known about frozone’s weakness to extreme heat, he 100% would have gotten killed if mr incredible wasn’t with him
This is my all time favorite movie. I still get chills when Bob gets captured, when Bob finds out his kids are on the plane, and when Dash runs on water. That last one just fills me with so much joy when he giggles and the music starts blasting.
There is actually also a meta reason for the "No capes" rule. Back then flowing cloths, like capes and skirts, were pretty hard to animate to move in a realistic way. So, no capes unless you want to get rid of your supervillan who never got the lecture x) I also love how they showed the different approaches Bob and Helen take in getting into the base. Bob, while trying to sneak, is clearly causing a lot more damage that's easily discovered compared to Helen who really only got noticed once she got stuck in the doors. Really shows how their powers informs their approach and thinking.
The film was a box office and critical success, making $635 million dollars against a $145 million dollar budget. The sequel, Incredibles 2, was a critical and box office success making, $1.2 billion dollars against a $200 million dollar budget. A third film is said to be in development.
The writer/director, Brad Bird, said for years that he didn't want to make a sequel if it would just be a money grab riding on the success of the first one. He wanted to wait until he came up with a story he thought was good enough.
A landmark film of 2004! Anyone who was still in grade school watching it in theaters back then would either be in college or out of college when the sequel released.
@@twist58 So you are on this channel after all huh?...figured as much, because when i first found out that Spacial Rend was here i thought you and Josh Blackwell probably would be as well and lo and behold one of you is.XD
my sister and I would quote the lines from Edna and Frozone all the time and when The Incredibles 2 came out she took me to see it in the theaters it was amazing
Congratulations, you have entered into the sacred ranks of animation appreciation where the stories told are heightened by the style of the animation. There is nothing better than to combine beautiful animation sequences with inspired writing and talented voice actors.
I have a few favorite lines from The Incredibles. My favorite line from Mr.Incredible: I feel like the maid. I just cleaned up this mess! Can it stay cleaned for just,F-For ten minutes?! My favorite line from Elastigirl: Settle down, are you kidding.? I’m at the top of my game. I’m out here with the big dogs! Girls, come on! Leave the saving the world to the men?! I DON’T THINK SO.! *chuckles.*. I don’t think so. And I have several favorite lines that come from Frozone, and one of them/ pieces of dialogue just so happens to be between him and his unseen wife, Honey.
There is a theory that Syndrome actually got his super (villain) suit design by Edna. Basically, the theory is that Syndrom wanted his suit designed by the best of the best, so he went to Edna under the disguise of a hero. But obviously Enda is a smart person, and so she saw through his facade, realizing that she was actually designing for a villain. So knowing what she knew, she purposefully added a cape to his suit, knowing it would lead to his demise.
I remember watching this in theaters! Loved it then and love it now. Looking forward to you watching the sequel. It took 14 years for them to make it, but it was worth it!
Also the voice actor for Mr.Incredible has been in some other movies, and one of them is one that you reacted to already. Craig T.Nelson was also the dad from the original and first sequel to the original “Poltergeist” film that you have already reacted to on your channel. He was also a character in the movie “Coach”, and the villain in the movie “Turner and Hooch”.
Honey, where's my supersuit? where is my super suit?!?! That's one of my favourite lines in the whole movie and Samuel L. Jackson played Lucas amazingly well 👍👍👍👍👍
31:05 Dang, this is actually the first time I've heard that woman scream. As a kid, I watched this movie on a TV with a broken left speaker, so anything that was meant to come out of the left speaker and not the right went completely unnoticed to us. I always thought lady took the death of her saviour a little too well - maybe mildly surprised, just going off her body language.
This is one of my favorites too😉 I always say Dash is like a little cocky FLASH in personality!😂 Also that one part with Frozone and his wife was VERY FUNNY!!!🤣
(11:28) You’re not wrong, Nick. That was Lou Romano voicing the teacher, who also voiced Linguini in Ratatouille AND Snotrod in Cars. And for Dash to get caught on camera, it proves nothing as evidence if he can move to and back from his desk in 6 milliseconds.
I never realized that, but you're right, it is the same actor lol I always loved that character, Bernie. He was right, but nobody will ever know. "Bernie..." "Don't BERNIE me! That little rat is guilty!" xD
The Incredibles is truly one of the best animated superhero movies of its time and it still holds up well today! Having a family full of superheroes is a concept that isn't explored enough and the creators did a great job with it in this movie. All of the characters are great, but Edna Mode is iconic! I'm glad you enjoyed it, Nick, and I can't wait for you next reaction!
For a little more context with Jack Jack’s powers, I would recommend watching Jack Jack Attack. It’s a short that went along with this movie. Also Jack Jack has multiple powers. I think it’s supposed to be like he’s a JACK of all trades.
By the way, Nick. There's a short film called Jack-Jack Attack that shows a majority of Jack-Jack's powers while being babysat. So you should watch that one probably before you see Incredibles 2.
Saw this in the theaters with my sister's and it cracked me up! Lol! Cast: Craig T. Nelson as Mr. Incredible. Holly Hunter as Elasti Girl. Samuel Jackson as Frozone. Brad Bird as Edna Mode. Bud Luckey as Rick Deckard. Jason Lee as Syndrome. Wallace Shawn as Willard Huph. John Ratzenberger as The Underminer. Sarah Vowell as Violet. Spencer Fox as Dash. And Elizabeth Pena as Mirage. This both a parody and a tribute to superhero movies. When I saw this later on, I realized this movie shares a similarity to WATCHMEN, where retired Superheroes come out of hiding after one of their own is murdered while uncovering a plot that could destroy the world.
I think Violet & Dash should probably be higher up on that list haha Yeah, come to think of it the "superhero ban" idea appears in a lot of famous stories. It is in Watchmen, Incredibles, Civil War, even Dark Knight Returns. It's always like the government turned a blind eye to superheroes for a while, then something bad happens, the public hates them, they are banned, they go into hiding, & of course, they return to save the day at the end & the public accepts them again.
Even this movie have the same thoughts as the Watchmen, Brad Bird said that he was inspired by the works of Jim Steranko, who worked on first comic books about ,,Captain America” and ,,The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
I don't think it ever hit me, the double meaning of "I'm not strong enough" to defeat the droid versus strong enough to lose Helen again. It hit me hard this time when you pointed it out.
I’m a sucker for the 60s aesthetic. I think back then a lot of things were possible, the economy was booming, activism was on the rise, and democracy was actually working. In the second movie they really nailed down the aesthetic to a higher degree along with more polygons, and the story really emphasizes the problems of today.
The 'No Capes' business had previously been portrayed (a superhero, Dollar Bill, whose cape was caught in a revolving door) in the comic 'Watchmen', also about forcibly-retired superheroes returning. It is almost certain that Bird & Co. had read Watchmen.
1:04:31 - i’m not sure if anyone explained it to you when you saw these guys cameo on The Iron Giant or not, but they are characterizations of and voiced by two of Walt Disney’s most notable animators: Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnson. They animated with the rest of Walt’s “Nine Old Men” on so, so many of the old Disney films like Bambi, Cinderella, Peter Pan, basically any classic Disney film you’ll watch. They remained teachers for many famous figures in the animation world and consultants for the studio up until they died. You see then in The Iron Giant as the train engineer and conductor. 💖
There’s nothing more unsettling to me in this film than the scene where he’s going through Syndrome’s files and seeing all the superheroes that have been killed. And also the ones he knows the location of. It’s truly chilling.
Regarding "Fly home, Buddy, I work alone." In the actual scene, Mr. Incredible is holding up Bomb Voyage and wasnt even paying attention to Buddy. In Syndromes reenactment, Mr. Incredible is rejecting Buddy outright.
This is one of my favorite movies. My god father took me to see it in theatres, I was 6. I had the dvd and watched it so many times, I know the whole movie script down to the music 😂🤣 when the second one came out I was 20, I went with my best friend to go and see it. It was packed with adults and about 4 kids 😂🤣 one of the kids was talking and the adults collectively went “SHHHHHHH” 😂🤣🤣🤣 I’m so excited for this
I was 9 when this one came out, let me know, were you expecting the 2nd one to take place further in the future? I was hoping so, instead of it picking up where it left off 14 years ago 😅
@@artsysabs I really hoped it started off where it left off. So, no I didn’t want it to take place in the future. I was so happy they didn’t mess up the second one. I thought their approach was amazing, I loved who they focused on with missions in the sequel because of how society has changed. I’m trying not to say much in case Nick sees, I hope you’re getting what I’m talking about. 😂
One of my favorite things in this movie is seeing Mr. Incredible & Elastigirl separately infiltrate Syndrome's lair...their different methods to achieve the same goal makes me so happy. Neither ever considers it problematic or impossible...they just go in, and take the hurdles one by one.
31:52 Ah, that takes me back to when my family had a landline as a kid. I used to listen to my parents' conversations with their co-workers (or "cow walkers", as AskReddit videos say), and later they chewed me out for it.
Wow! What a throwback. Although everything about this movie is well-done, I especially enjoy the music and writing. Like, I love how real the conversations are. The best example is when Helen and Bob are arguing how to get downtown. That is my parents, 100%.
I just love how normal the mom and dads' relationship is. They keep screaming at each other because they love each other. It's one of the main things that makes this movie so legendary. Amongst SOOOO many other of course haha. Love it so much
It's ironic when you realize that Mr. Incredible and ElastiGirl completely switched from the beginning to when they got married. In the beginning Mr. Incredible was the one who wanted to settle down and have a family while ElastiGirl was the one who refused being tied down and wanting to keep doing the hero work and after they got married and had their kids they switched. Also their children's names are basically puns on their powers. Violet being ultraviolet which is invisible to the naked eye and Dash being his speed. as for jack jack I'm guessing it's a play on of jack of all traits cause he has multiple powers.
Fun fact: the kid's names are derived from their powers. Violet: ultraviolet rays that make her invisible Dash: his super speed Jack-Jack: "jack of all trades", as they say. Not so fun fact: all those super heroes Syndrome killed were Bob's and Helen's/ Mr. Incredible's and Elasti-Girl's friends. They were even at their wedding! Imagine reading the paper and finding out an old friend of yours has gone missing, you then find their skeleton in a cave, and then discover they and so many of your other superhero friends were killed just to make a villain look like a hero later on.
Edna is definitely a fan favorite character. Larger than life, a genius inventor, and so friendly, it's hard not to like her. And I have to say, you're good at catching subtle Chekov's Gun moments. The cape, you called it being the cause of his defeat. I actually had to laugh when you mentioned it, because I've seen this movie a dozen times, and it always makes me laugh when she throws the ball of paper at Bob. "No capes!" It looks great, but yeah, it can be a liability. But if it were held on by *mangetic strips,* or a quick release clip, it could be feasible. Not to mention it's a resource. Out in the wilderness and need something to stave off the rain? Clip it to some branches for a makeshift roof. Need to signal a plane? That brightly colored cape makes for a good flag! Need to catch some fish? Turn the cape into a net. Make the whole thing near indestructible, and it can be a good shield against bullets or flamethrowers. The sequel is a very good example of doing a sequel right. It's just a bit better than the first (and after so many years, it's amazing how they picked up like no time had passed at all). And you may notice a familiar voice in The Underminer. That's John Ratzenberger. He's been in every Pixar movie in some capacity or another. Sort of their good luck charm, like Alan Tudyk is for some of Disney's recent films. If you listen, you can always find him.
YESSS!! Gotta express my excitement before I even start the video. Nick, this is my favorite movie of all time!! So happy you're sharing your first watch of it with us! Edit, having seen your intro: I adore that you're studying the medium and mentioned that animation isn't for one age group. Super fitting as a preface to you seeing this Pixar / Brad Bird film in particular!
I love how positive you are when you react and watch films! I feel like some people find it easy to scoff and groan about tried and true tropes, but seeing someone watch them with a fresh and positive perspective is refreshing.
This movie has a special place for me. My dad was deployed when this movie came out, Oct of 2004. While over in the Middle East, he went out of his way to find one of those classic ripped-movie-marts and find a copy of The Incredibles before it came out on disc in the US (Mar 2005). He came home and we all watched it together, it was one of my first and one of my favorite memories with him. Great reaction!
Edna Mode, the superhero costume designer, is voiced by Brad Bird. Brad Bird is also the director of The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2, as well as Ratatouille, The Iron Giant, and other movies.
Man these animated movies from 90s and 2000s are so nostalgic to me T_T A funny thing is this movie was re dubbed, but not in its original language, I live in Brazil and a controversial thing happened(idk what) with 1st dub so they had to redub the whole movie again but with some different voice actors (not completely some voice actors changed and others not) so few FEW ppl got the dvd with the 1st version of the dub and Im glad to say that Im one of these ppl, now since... idk 2005 2008 2009 idk but u can't find anymore the 1st dub only the 2nd one, I remember as a kid I find a little bit weird when I watched this movie in a TV channel coz I saw some of the voices were different
Each of the family has the power that represent them dash being a young child means he likes to run fast Violet being a teenager wanting to feel invisible and hiding away from the world Helen having to stretch in multiple directions to take care of her family And Bob being strong enough to take care of his family and Jack Jack being a baby we only discovered his powers a jack of all trades
I don't know if anybody else has already said it in the comments, but my favorite theory about this movie is that Edna has the power of future vision. That would explain how she knew exactly what to make Jack Jack's suit withstand even though he hadn't shown any powers yet, and why the "no capes!" was such a Thing for her - she didn't see it coming and blamed herself. _"I never look back, dahling, it distracts from the now."_
Aw thank you so much Nick for the extra long video today! It was great to see so many good moments all within it!! Also I am sure others have said it, but if you wanna see more of the baby Jack Jack and see more of his powers, watch the animated short Jack-Jack Attack! It will help tie things together nicely (and explain about your thoughts about the laser eyes). But there are so many funny lines and scenes in this movie and so glad you got to experience them!!
You ever notice that Buddy's memory of Mr. Incredible's rejection doesn't match the reality? There's no Bomb Voyage. Buddy edited the danger out of the moment.
Really love your reaction videos, especially if they are longer than usual. I hope you review the toy story films, Christopher Robin, and a beautiful day in the neighborhood movie someday. Keep those awesome reactions a going.
Fun fact the two men at 1:04:30 are a tribute to legendary animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston who were responsible for animating the older Disney films such as Sleeping Beauty and Lady and the Tramp
You know man i really love your content its truly so genuine and amazing, you're always so engaged and just immersed in the movies you watch and i love that because yeah you have your own opinions and your own comments about the movie but you dont just talk over the movie and miss crucial parts. It's just nice to see reactions where someone is actually engaged in the movie and not just full of themselves ya know? I mean there is nothing wrong with commentary sure but thats what you do at the end of the movie ya know, or just pause it :P and talk haha but yeh i get it, its content creation everyone has their own style and fans that appreciate different things im just pointing out what i truly enjoy and love about your channel man. Super glad you enjoyed this film more than you thought you would, it is one of a kind and even the sequel is amazing so cant wait for that as well. =] keep it up and thanks again

Fun fact: Syndrome was inspired by Batman and Robin the director Brad Bird thought to himself
“What if Robin was rejected by Batman and felt bitter about it?”
Very interesting! I was kinda getting a more Bucky and Cap vibe between the two.
Mr. Incredible: Buddy?

During the interview Bob said he feels like a maid constantly saving the world & seems sick of it...but deep down he loves being a hero & once he retires he is bored out of his mind.
Then you have the kids who feel like freaks & just want to fit in, but by the end they love being heroes & the whole family got to have a good bonding experience together. Lots of good character arcs all in one movie.
It just goes to show how flexible she is. It’s her superpower, and not just in a physical way. She’s able to adapt to whatever circumstance she finds herself in, and whatever choice she makes.
Frozone’s interview is also ironic. His interview is largely about him not wanting to be tied down by committing. In the future he’s married
Interesting, I just took their interviews as them straight up lying to protect their secret identities.

She is one of my favorite characters
Yeah, but her appearance is pure Linda Hunt.
Yesss please watch Jack Jack Attack!!
The actress in question, I believe, was Lily Tomlin
Yep. She was originally supposed to be voiced by Lily Tomlin, who as we all know voiced Ms. Frizzle in the Magic School Bus. She listened to Brad’s voiced recording for Edna and felt the director should voice Edna himself.
Dash's laugh when he realizes he can run on water is the purest, most genuine chuckle and it makes me happy everytime.
That moment's so perfect. The music cuts out when he closes his eyes except for a little cue representing his legs on the water and we realize, just as he realizes, that he didn't fall.
As a nurse, people have gotten trouble for saving someone that didn't want to be saved. These incidents are real.
It's real??
@@LycanFerret That's unfair :( the people who are trying to help got sued like that by the one who wants to d1e :(
It makes no sense at all.
Fun Fact: For the plane action scene, Elastigirl’s voice actress,Holly Hunter. She actually learned how to talk like a pilot does for that scene.

Funfact: The kids names are all a play on their powers.
Dash = Superspeed
Violet = Ultraviolet rays, invisible to the naked eye.
I didn’t know that! That makes so much sense now!
The director, Brad Bird doesn't like that The Incredibles is called 'a movie for kids' because he knows animation is not a genre, its another way of telling stories
I mean, those who watched this as kids probably didn't understand the heavy implications of the scene where Bob realized Syndrome committed superhero genocide
Great video as always ♡♡
I mean, he didn’t seem to get the cheating plot until the end.
yeah and the dude at the beginning sued incredible because he didnt let him commit sewercide properly LOL
same, i didn’t understand a lot of the things when i watched this as a kid! like, i thought the dude at the start fell on accident, i also didn’t really understand it was implied she thought he was cheating, i did understand the thing on the screen meant hero’s were killed but had no idea what that had to do with the machine, etc.
@@jm329 Not really. It was threaded throughout, with Helen finding Mirage's hair and getting suspicious about the "conferences".
@@Lokear I think they mean Nick didn't get it until the end.
Also I'll say it again---I LOVE how much of the movie you include in your reactions, I don't care how long they are 😂
Thanks so much for the fun fact Leslie, and appreciate that!

Jason Lee did an AMAZING job as Buddy/Syndrome. Everyone did an amazing job with this movie.
31:23 this gets even sadder when you realize SHE designed those outfits with capes. To her, all those supers deaths are her fault.
Well probably the capes were requested by the supers, and Edna noticed that was a mistake to go by them
There's a fan theory that Syndrome hired Edna and she deliberately put the cape in.
FUN FACT: Edna's accent is supposed to be a mix of German and Japanese.

All their powers are tied to their ages and positions in the family. Ingenious character design tbh.
Think about it, the omnidroid was in the south side of the island, and where did the omnidroid push Bob to? a volcano in that area
Syndrome would have known about frozone’s weakness to extreme heat, he 100% would have gotten killed if mr incredible wasn’t with him
This is my all time favorite movie. I still get chills when Bob gets captured, when Bob finds out his kids are on the plane, and when Dash runs on water. That last one just fills me with so much joy when he giggles and the music starts blasting.
hearing Dash's delighted laugh, when he discovers he can run on water, makes me me happy to this day
There is actually also a meta reason for the "No capes" rule. Back then flowing cloths, like capes and skirts, were pretty hard to animate to move in a realistic way. So, no capes unless you want to get rid of your supervillan who never got the lecture x)
I also love how they showed the different approaches Bob and Helen take in getting into the base.

And I have several favorite lines that come from Frozone, and one of them/ pieces of dialogue just so happens to be between him and his unseen wife, Honey.
I don't believe in perfect art but this movie is pretty close.
1:04:30 The "old school" men are caricatures of Disney veterans Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. They also supplied the voices.

This both a parody and a tribute to superhero movies. When I saw this later on, I realized this movie shares a similarity to WATCHMEN, where retired Superheroes come out of hiding after one of their own is murdered while uncovering a plot that could destroy the world.
I think Violet & Dash should probably be higher up on that list haha
Yeah, come to think of it the "superhero ban" idea appears in a lot of famous stories.
John Ratzenberger is basically Pixar’s Stan Lee.
Now watch the short "Jack Jack Attacks", then "Incredibles 2" and finally the short "Auntie Edna" and your Incredibles journey will be complete.
Unless Pixar makes a 3rd Incredibles movie.
While I'm not a big Pixar fan, The Incredibles is certainly the ultimate exception. I hope Disney+ does a series (maybe a crossover with BH6).
The Incredibles takes place in the 60s, so a BH6 crossover wouldn’t really work.
A good idea for an Incredibles series could be to focus on the good old days with all the supers and their adventures. At least I would watch it.
Frank died before The Incredibles was released on the big screen.
There’s nothing more unsettling to me in this film than the scene where he’s going through Syndrome’s files and seeing all the superheroes that have been killed. And also the ones he knows the location of. It’s truly chilling.
Regarding "Fly home, Buddy, I work alone."
In the actual scene, Mr. Incredible is holding up Bomb Voyage and wasnt even paying attention to Buddy.
In Syndromes reenactment, Mr. Incredible is rejecting Buddy outright.
"Jack-Jack Attack", the short that went with this movie, is one of PIXAR's funniest shorts EVER!!! XD

31:52 Ah, that takes me back to when my family had a landline as a kid. I used to listen to my parents' conversations with their co-workers (or "cow walkers", as AskReddit videos say), and later they chewed me out for it.

Mr Incredible is voiced by Craig T Nelson. He played the dad in Poltergeist and the lead character in the Coach TV series.
Love it so much
Based off of Brad Birds' actual family
Jack Jack is a baby but still has the hero instinct to kick villain's ass, i love him ❤️
It's ironic when you realize that Mr.
It probably would've happened that way if they actually had the choice and not forced
The sequel is AMAZING. One of the best Pixar/Disney sequels in my opinion💜
Fun fact: the kid's names are derived from their powers.
Violet: ultraviolet rays that make her invisible
Dash: his super speed
Jack-Jack: "jack of all trades", as they say.
29:44 "Oh, so she's like an artist."
Yes, Edna prefers that title.
“Everyone’s special” “Which is another way of saying no one is”
“When everyones super, no one will be”
Edna is definitely a fan favorite character.
I'm 48 years old and this is one of my absolute favorite movies!
The Incredibles was my childhood! Thanks for this Nick! 🎊🎉✌
Geez what a confuse comment
Loved your reaction on when Jack Jack went ”flame on!” You were so not prepared for that 😂🤣
18:15 He's actually humming his own theme song!
Fourth wall broken moment.
This movie is full of action and adventure and family i really love this movie
This movie reaction is, dare I say?... INCREDIBLE!! I'll see myself out...😂😂😂
My favorite lines from this movie and they are both Edna lines:
No capes and Go , confront the problem, fight, win.
"It's a super car..!" and "She's probably right" (with the expressway exits) had to be my favorite reactions of yours this video, hahah!!
Can’t wait for number 2! Ahhhh good job! Hope you loved it!
I'll always love animations! Disney/Pixar has always been one of my favorites and I'm 26 😎
Still my favorite Pixar movie. It just hangs together so well, and the family is so relatable and lovable.
Edna Mode is the best thing that has come out of the fashion and animation world! She is easily almost everyone’s favorite and has the most quotable lines!
