- Akira Nakai - San returns to Portland Oregon for his third build! The car is a 1997 993. It has a Rothsport built 3.8 with upgraded gear box. Wheels by Vossen, Tires by Nitto, Exhaust by Borla, suspension by KW, seats by Bride, headlamps by The RetroFit Source. Paint and body by Sandy Auto Body. And of course assistance and preassembly by 503 Motoring. This is my first RWB build i have ever filmed! It is truly an amazing experience seeing a master artist create his art in person. He is one of the most modest and insanely-hard working craftsman. He builds each and every RWB Porsche and ensures quality by controlling nearly all the variables, all the way down to installation. He circles the globe several times a year, Nakai- San visits garages, homes, and events installing his kit on any variety of 964 or 993 Porsche 91. I look forward to filming more RWB builds!

Yeah all while trying way too hard to act like they’re part of his crew afterwards for the grotesque amount of attention grabbing going on there. Haha he looked like he’s only hanging around them because he’s waiting for that payment so he can head on out.
I had almost the same impression... TOTAL disrespect for the Artist and his hard work / masterpiece... and it doesn’t matter that everyone is saying about „love” and „cult” of the work, they behave like they dont...

F Z if I were having an RWB build, it would be a closed invitation. If I wanted pictures taken I would hire a professional photographer so me and my party could just enjoy what’s going on and let the single photographer do their thing so there’s not a bunch of people tripping over each other with phones and camera ruining the scene.
I feel badly for Nakai-san.
If I had the means to have him build a car for me, I'd firstly ask him how he wants it to go down, and what I can arrange to make his experience the best that I can.
Its called being a good host.
Unless he would be offended by a lack.of people around; Id have myself, my wife and like 3 others maaaybe.

Also I'd let him choose the color, wheels, and body package. I'd give inputs as to what I sorta like, but HE is the artist, not ME. The experience is about him, not myself.
The art (car) at the end is for me to then share with everyone else.
They are a poor representation of human beings, standing there taking credit for someone else's hard work, even whilst he's still working on it as if he's insignificant. The only positive thing is they are paying him alot of ¥¥¥ to be there...bunch of donut eating, beer drinking fat loosers.

Someone brought one of his builds to the Petit LeMans in 2016. It was one of the most amazing builds I have ever seen. It was parked next to gt3 and no one was interested in that one. All cameras and eyes were on the RW...so so sick
I love the flexible rubber bumper bottom lip. Probably the most functional modified from bumper I’ve ever seen. Made to be driven 🤘

Been a fan of Nakai's work for over 8-9 years now. He is truely the epitome of an artist. Imagine chopping up a 993 in front of a crowd of spectators and media.... Hands down a pioneer of the automotive industry, and thats honestly an understatement.

Here's the thing. If he actually built proper cars, not one person would comment. But he doesn't. Those cars have zero value to any person who knows what a car is. Want an actually good car? Go in Italy, ask around central and find the guys who build proper cars, not this hack who butchers the car and leaves raw metal inside.
This isn't a good product, this is a good business.
Fellows in Italy, South Germany, middle and North France, those are the guys who are master artists of their craft, because you have to be referred to even so much as touch their door step, let alone get to see their work.
This guy? Pay enough money, and you'll get his junk.
I'm an Icar gold certified collision repair tech. The ONLY thing he did wrong on this build was leave the cut edges exposed, which will almost certainly be fixed later as this was a timed build. And the fact that he builds these cars by eye and they come out straight every time is dam near a miracle. This guy is a journeyman, or master body tech. If you think otherwise you've either never done the work or you simply lack respect.

I was just about to Reee all over the place. But then thankfully Mr Nakai smoothed out the RTV and I calmed down.
I truly have mixed feelings about this, yes it makes me cringe to cut into a Porsche to install bolt on flair but the finished product is just amazing...I'm so divided! Great video!

Uhhh thats a non numbers matching 993 and its not even a Turbo S, there's about a dozen of them if them on my local Craigslist as we speak. They roughly trippled the value of that car. RWB Porches regularly sell for well over a hundred thousand dollars. And btw, how many people agree with you doesn't mean a single dam thing, facts do. And the fact is the car is worth much more now. Even if you don't like it. 🤷♂️

Hab ich mich auch schon gefragt. Der dengelt einen Fiberglas Kit an den Wagen und das nichtmal besonders gut. Ich bin ja Laie, wenn ich sehe wie labberig die Schürze vorne ist (ich meine nicht diese Gummilippe sondern das Teil da drüber) dann frage ich mich, ob das dem Winddruck von 200 km/h standhalten würde. Und einfach bar Löcher ins blech bohren, dann ne Schraube rein und hoffen dass das nicht rostet... wäre nicht mein Style.
Er hat sich halt selbst zu einer Marke gemacht. Das muss man erstmal schaffen aber hätte ich einen Porsche, würde ich den keine hundert Meter an ihn ran lassen 😅😂
