Joke or not, i feel there's a more serious undertone to his speech when he "joked" about it. He always says something bad and defends himself by stating its a joke, which would be like someone punching you in the face and then telling you they were only joking, at the end of the day they still hit you and it shouldnt be an acceptable defense.
If the filipinos are complacent with how he acts and just accepts his desicions without thought then the philippines will no longer belong to the filipinos and will be given to the highest bidder, in this case china. Most chinese people do not care about any other people or culture so if you arent a natural chinese citizen you are beneath them.
While it may seem to some people beneficial to partner with china it really isnt. china is on a very tight rope economically so their current economic power will only last so long, you can see how desperate they are through their actions, trying to grab as much power as they can while they can.
On top of that their government is still fighting each other over who belongs in charge, the normal citizens have almost a complete lack of freedom, unable to do things others may take for granted. And half of the population lives in poverty. A "partnership" would in the end benifit china and the only return would be desolation.
If that sounds like a stable future for you then you may be blind and ignorant to facts and i would suggest attempting to open yourself up and seek out higher education, learn whenever you have the opportunity to or just try to find where you lost your common sense and logic.
If you can't afford schooling then the internet can be a great tool for learning, try using it. Try reaching out of your comfort zone and removing yourself from any ideological echochambers, it is truly freeing.
