My girlfriend and a business partner were involved in a New Years' Eve party in St. Catharines. At the time, Honeymoon Suite had a song on a Toronto radio station album, and my friends decided to hire them for the gig.
The band was setting up and warming up when someone told them I saw Jimi Hendrix at Maple Leaf Gardens.
When they asked me about it I said I have something else to say, about this gig. The band had never played Auld Lang Syne, the New Years' song, or a polka, talking to them as if this was a wedding band gig. After getting into
that the one guitar player said I could try his equipment out as loud as I want, trying a few riffs. They also said if
I'm ever out there in the audience I can get up and play with them any time. Yes, that was a long, long time ago.
The next time I saw that guitar player he was driving a Ferrari down Clifton Hill.
