The neighbors around this home want to shut this landlord down. The grass is always a few feet high and the neighbors have to get together to help the person living there keep up. So, I decided to clean it up completely free and turn it from the worst to the best yard on the block!

I have to agree with the lady neighbor and her two cents about the Landlord. How can anybody be a landlord and not even care about the land that they're lording over? Plus, how can you be a landlord of a neighborhood block and live in a different city and state from the one that you're lording over too? I just don't get it..... It's really ridiculous that there are people who think that they can be a Landlord and an uncaring scumbag at the same time. Until somebody, who is a current landlord, can explain their process to me, I won't understand. If I was a landlord, I would at least drop by the property at least once every other month to at least check out the status of the property that I own. I would check if their is any overgrowth in the front lawn and/or backyard and check on the overall welfare of the house that's built on my land.

Scumlord...so much more accurate than slumlord. I lived next to a few homes like this. One guy on the street bought every home that wound up for sale because he could regulate who moved in next to him and his family while others wouldn't care who they rented to ... and those people were usually drug dealers and other criminals.

I’m kind of surprised that there isn’t some neighbor that’s retired or home from work that doesn’t come over and help or even the homeowners if they’re physically able to help.
I’ll never forget at my little house a new Westminster I ordered way way too much dirt nice big dump truck dumped in her back alley and the neighbors from five houses without me even saying anything came and help me put dirt on all my flowerbeds and I ordered so much dirt there was enough for everybody’s flowerbeds it was such a blessed summer night. Neighbors like that are precious ❤

What are you talking about? Most houses when you rent them means YOU are responsible for taking care of the lawn. Everyone is always so quick to blame the landlords. Why? How entitled and lazy are you? Most rentals unless condos or apartment complexes require the tenant to take care of the property.

Spencer, so glad to see that neck gaiter. No reason to put all of that in your lungs, mouth and nose. I live on a dusty property during those long dry spells, and it makes so much difference. As always this is absolutely the best class on how to reclaim a yard, it makes the occupants feel so much better about life in general and whatever difficulties they are living with. May God bless you and keep you safe, you deserve to be secure in your finances, you are a big positive mark in the ledger of life.

Unless the tenant was completely unable to cut the yard due to some type of illness or disability why just because they rent do they expect the landlord to do it? How is the landlord a scumbag for having the AUDACITY to expect his tenant to take care of the lawn around the house they rent? I rented a house for many years and I push mowed the yard. Are people really so lazy to say, "It ain't mine! Fuck it! Let the landlord do it. If he don't wanna cut it, he's a sumlord." They LIKE living in a jungle of tall grass and overgrown bushes? Ridiculous!

@@snowvix8902 No....IF the contract states that the landlord is responsible for the lawn maintenance. However, I don't know of any homes that are rented where the landlord is responsible to cut the grass. Apartments, duplexes, town homes, maybe. I can almost bet my salary that this landlord didn't have a contactual obligation to tend to this lawn.
@Saskinny if the landlord is sending someone around to do it once in a while, it's absolutely in the landlord's responsibilities. Try licking less boot and having more solidarity.
Plus, mowers ain't cheap, if I'm not responsible for the lawn maintenance where I'm renting, I'm not wasting my money on one

The majority of the time it seems like corner properties are the most neglected, which is so disturbing because they are the most seen and usually the ones with the most potential to be beautifully landscaped.
As a landlord I let my tenants know they are responsible for maintaining the lawn and bushes. I know it’s probably not always perfect but I’ve been blessed with good tenants. I’m wondering if that slope just makes it harder for them to mow. God bless you for helping out this neighborhood. It really is amazing how you transform properties. Hopefully the owner/tenants will keep it up.

As someone who has had to deal with landlords, a big thank you! I know the home owners and neighbors are much happier. Having a crappy looking yard can make you feel like everyone judges you and things you are trashy and it really not be the case

The amount of litter you had to pick up! The neighbours can moan but that particular mess is on them… Gotta take pride in and AS a neighbourhood.
We don't live in a big neighborhood but I regularly pick up trash in my yard left by people who don't live here. Just because there's trash on the roadside doesn't mean the people living around there are doing it. Most of it flies out of the back of pickup trucks.
The litter!! The tenants might not have the tools for the yard but they must have a garbage bag.

It’s crazy to see how much neglect these lawns get. But it’s so courteous and generous that we have people like Spencer who can go out of their way and mow these overgrown lawns that are neglected.

Those elevated yards are hard to cut. I know, I have one not that high but it's a real pain to cut. You did a knockout job. It seems like every neighborhood seems to have one of those houses where nobody cares enough to take care of it, that will never change. The lady from across the street was right, now she can sit outside and look across the street and not look at that hot mess anymore, well, at least for now.

Hi Spencer and crew! Do you know how many people you are helping? It’s not just the home your mowing/weedeating/hedges trimmed/edging, etc. it’s the community and also it’s people around the world. You’ve become such an inspiration to many folks. I’m in Madison, Indiana, about an hour from Louisville, Kentucky. I wish I knew you’d be this close ahead of time. I love this transformation! That pathway between the houses was my favorite. It looked SO GOOD after you got it all edged up and weeds knocked back. Spencer, you are seriously a gem. Kindness truly does pay off. Maybe that slumlord will feel bad for not coming and taking care of his/her properties (or at least hired someone else if they were unable to) after they see how awesome it looks now.
I doubt slumlords care about anything except collecting money!

I used to live two streets over from this house. As the lady stated, there are a lot of elderly people (and some people that just don't care) that live in this area. All it takes is one house to ruin the whole look of the neighborhood. Thank you for doing this for the people in the neighborhood. I know they appreciate it! ♡

My city has a landfill for yard waste you can dump it off for free so it can be recycled into mulch you can pick up and take, for free. Otherwise every resident has a yard waste bin that's collected every week during spring through fall.
I live just outside of Louisville we have Free dump here for whatever thrash guys won't pick up

Incredible transformation!! I'm sure some lawns may be difficult to upkeep especially when they are old or disabled, but I think it is a shame some neighbors don't help their neighbors in their time of need. It is sad when you have young owners won't take care of their own property. It makes you wonder about people. The before and after of this property you mowed looks very nice!!!
