Only true Elantra fan will appreciate the car,, 6 speed auto, always better than cvt and I am not a cvt fan,, anyway, thank you uncle Khong for test drive the Elantra, but off cause I can't drive as awesome as you, cheers 😅✌
Hyundai msia usually does zero marketing for their products , its like if u dont end up in their showroom , most people have no idea what they are offering...its just a sad situation ... on a different note , have u tried a Suprima S on a Genting hill Climb? i know its an old and discontinued car but apparently its a great drivers car as well ...
Hi Uncle Khong, with the ongoing promotions Elantra 2.0 and Cerato 1.6 seems to be pretty similar in pricing. Which would you recommend and is there a big different in power of the car between the two?
I've tested this car on the used market. Power on the transmission is great with the 6AT, feels somewhat like the Mazda 6AT. But handling wise, i wasn't sure as I didn't like the feeling of the steering due to it being light. I was told that by the salesman that it's an electric steering wheel. Being someone who drives cars with heavy steering, how do you get used to this feeling? I lost confidence in the handling due to the steering feel. Can someone advise me? I'd like to try Korean cars, but certain things kept me from doing it like the steering feel
YS.......observation....firstly ,the speed was maintaining well between 80/110 kmh. Secondly , the revs were kept high deliberately at above 4/5k rpms. Is this the technique in bettering the driving control of any vehicle ?...& would this be detrimental to the transmission ?
Hahaha, I was not consciously maintaining the speed, nor the RPM. I was just feeling the car, and no, this is not detrimental to the transmission. Too low rpm will cause the car to bog down, too high rpm will also slow the car so we try to keep it in the power band.
Keeping it in high revs keeps the engine on the boil, where max power is. Normally a driver drives with his ears on the engine and eyes on the road. Cornering is by feeling the balance, the tyres, the grip and the G forces acting on the car. That is how one becomes fast.
Sifu YS...thank you for the prompt & enlightening reply, confirmation that there is no substitute to the application of old-school driving skills even to current high tech assisted vehicles. It is a real pleasure to be associated to a true driving champion like you.
It was just recently launched. The previous model was quite popular here, I was told, but it apparently fell short on global sales so I heard they switched to this styling. The real reason I believe is the switch over to SUV.
Wahhh... Uncle... you really tekan the car... RPM hardly go down... and driving follow "racing line"... 😂 Question: final verdict...is this car good for small family (of 4)?
Well, that's 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Repetitive information, disturbing mic qualities, I don't see myself getting more information out of this review. Although the car is RM110K, the latest Merdeka promotion for this car is RM99K. This makes someone, who is interested in high spec Vios or City, can look into this car as a potential option. Savagegeese's review is more profound. Same car, left hand drive, all things covered. Information is more accessible and I wouldn't waste any more of my time understanding repeating things from the brochure.
@@KakiMod what is wrong with you? Are you being illiterate? Mr. Khong was upfront about his mistakes, being a gentleman and apologizes, and we've moved on. Yet you are here trying to make unreadable comments.

Thanks Gerard - you still have not confirmed if you are the CH Gerard.

I understand where u are coming from in the Suprima, but with so many new cars, it might not be so relevant any more. Unless I do a used car review.
You should , at least for the more popular models , Kia Forte / Preve / Vios / Suprima S . The sub rm20k-30k for a decent first car buyers.

If there is a sport mode, that would help. Set a bit of toe out for the front.
@@YSKhongDriving i agree on this. That's why i preferred mazda 6s steering feel for newer cars. It's very driver oriented

Good nite YS. Not Cameron Gerard. I replied prior nevertheless thanks for asking. Keep well.
I would love to own 1.6 turbo version, sadly it's discontinue, will hunt for it later..
Yes, it's sad.
Uncle YS, would you do a genting hill climb with Sonata LF 2015 one day?
Can I get a car?
This car handles better or corolla ?? Please answer I'm choosing between these two.
The latest Corolla has the TNGA platform that provides some very good handling characteristics.
@@YSKhongDriving thanks sir 😎👍
How is the NVH compared to the recent Cerato?
Quite good.
Very good car. Looking forward for comparison of this kimchi against all the Japanese
This Kimchi is actually on par with the sushi.
Cerato 2.0 was discontinued sadly...wish you did a review on that.
New one coming soon. I heard it's going to be great! Stay tuned.
Hi Ys Khong, can u do a review on Toyota Yaris Genting Drive?
I already have a video on that. And Vios
How about the new 2019 proton saga up the genting?
Trying to arrange. Someone else also asked. Seems like a good idea - stay tuned!
@@YSKhongDriving yup the bell was always on! Thanks
Inside cabin noise are that really loud sir?
We were climbing a hill. On normal roads it is quiet.
came back from Seoul in April, even in their home country this new Elantra is not as common as the previous MD.. wonder why 😒

nice rolex submariner!

Yup, very good. And affordable. I have some not-to-be published footage further down the hill which shows this car can be quick.
By the sound of the engine, it will need a turbo....
Actually the engine does have decent power. Not as much as a turbo, but enough.
@@YSKhongDriving wow, shall test drive
The price/value package is excellent.
