It's a crime p that Patriots point Naval museum allowed the clamagore to become such a wreck and not take care of it properly. Really makes you wonder since they almost lost The laffey the same way because of neglect and deteriorating below the water line how long it'll be before we either wind up risk losing The laffey again, or even the Yorktown. This museum needs to start stepping up on its maintenance and care of these vessels. There is no excuse that they have not kept up on them or that they allowed the clamagore to become the derelict that it became and had to be scrapped. If the battleship cove museum in Boston can keep up on their warships why can't Patriots point keep up on the maintenance of theirs? This was a sad loss as the clamagore was the last of her kind. And have been chosen to become a museum only for the museum to let it deteriorate, and have to be scrapped.

patriots point doesn't receive any money from the state or federal government. they really don't make much money and probably the majority of it goes to keeping yorktown in good shape.
with that being said they probably could be more aggressive at seeking out donors, but probably a hard sell still.
