    This safe-cut one costs about $18, which was $4 more than the other modern one shown in the video. I’m so glad I picked this one, the safe-cut works like magic, and the lid came out with the opener itself. Very clean and neat! Thanks for sharing!

    I picked up one from Walmart about a year ago. It works great but since I don't use it often, I spend a good 5 minutes trying to figure out the correct placement for operation 😄 I was raised in a 70'/80's household with the mandatory electric can opener. Funny how they're almost obsolete now.

    • @IWantToCook
      @IWantToCook Рік тому +4

      Ha! I see those older electric ones at thrift stores now and then - along with all those bread makers. 🤪

      My mom doesn't even own a regular can opener. And if you say "can opener," she assumes you're talking about an electric one. I hate the things. They break, half the time they don't do a good job opening your cans, and the magnet can't support larger cans. A normal manual can opener works just fine for me.

    Had I not seen you successfully use the thing I was sure it could not be done.
    The instructions that came with it were useless and I took ~10 minutes my first time, before I watched the video, getting just enough slack so I could tap the rest open with a little wall hammer.
    Thank You!

    How long does it last? All my can openeders last 2 months average and I only open maybe up to 2 cans a week. They all start failing. Teeth start wearing out then you have to squeeze harder and harder until it's completely dead. These new ones you are talking about, I've read the reviews on Amazon, and people say they start failing after 3-4 weeks. So if this also a problem with this style, what other option is there for a can opener that will last a year or more?

    • @IWantToCook
      @IWantToCook 2 місяці тому

      Good question and thanks for asking. So about a year after getting it I notice it’s not as easy to operate.
