Daryl Coley is my uncle we really miss him Rev James Moore use to eat dinner at my house just about every week and Rev James Cleveland is my Godfather the king of Gospel I miss them all.

I was introduced to Daryl Coley by my mom. On October 29, 1991 (my 17th birthday), I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. There was no rhyme or reason to how or why this happened to someone young. My mom bought a boombox & the exact cassette featured in this reaction video. While in medical sedation because of the pain, she wanted the atmosphere in my hospital room to be filled with the Holy Spirit peace love & healing. After I came out of the sedation, I remembered the Daryl Coley songs I heard am I've been a fan since. I was supposed to die at 21yrs old. I'm now 48 yrs old & healed by the power of God.
Daryl Coley was a beast!! He is one of my favorites!! Growing up, I went to so many concerts of his!! The man could SANG!!! Not only could he sing, but he lived the word of God!! May he rest in paradise!!
My favorite male gospel singer. His greatest hits album is still in heavy rotation. He That Dwelleth is on repeat 😊.

I miss Daryl Coley so much! His passing signaled the passing of a gospel genius. He actually started off as a jazz singer before crossing over into gospel. The anointing was heavy in his music ministry and his amazing voice is timeless. His extraordinary ability to really "tell" the story of the song is by far second to none. He left us with such a rich legacy of gospel music greatness. He truly represents the best of the best in American gospel music yet, you hear the universality in his style.
I love him all he sings is anointed.

He has complete control of his vocal instrument and the emotion within the context of his singing is all HOLY GHOST! You can’t buy that in a school, it must come from GOD Himself! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Daryl Coley is my favorite gospel/singer. He was truly anointed. I can definitely hear his jazz/classical influence in his music. In my humble opinion, he will always be the G.O.A.T. He set the standard/bar so high that no one has come close to reaching it. You should listen to his acappella songs. To name a few: ‘Even Me’, ‘Victory in Jesus’, and ‘The Medley of Praise.’ These songs I mentioned will definitely showcase his true gift. Simply amazing +CharlieSmithChannel

In ref to your secular influences on this song, he sang background for many secular artist including legendary Jazz Artist Nancy Wilson. He was also a part of the Gospel Music Worship of America with Rev. James Cleveland who was friends with Aretha Franklins dad

What and who you are thinking of is Peabo Bryson bro! I know that Peabo Bryson and Nancy Wilson were Daryl’s great influences in his young singing days way before anyone knew who Daryl was. I heard him say that out of his own mouth. So yeah bro, it was definitely Peabo Bryson.
In some slow Gospel songs the vamp will be a little uptempo but it won’t be considered a praise break. They usually aren’t that uptempo to be an actual praise break.

You are correct in calling that little turn in the music a 'Praise Break" because you can call it what you will. Daryl Coley takes a song out of every common realm known to man and you will find yourself making up words and phrases in an attempt to say what you're experiencing. So there is nothing wrong with whatever terminology you can come up with. It's indescribably good (and so are your reactions). I pray that God continues to bless you to the fullest: He's just getting started!

I only wish that Daryl Coley was here to see how greatly loved and appreciated his ministry still is. Maybe in another comment at another time, I'll share my experience from attending one of his concerts; and also my sister singing with him and Daryl remarking how well she could really sing (I'm still grinning all over my face because of it ☺).
By the way, the words 'Praise Break' make up a slang phrase, so there is no official meaning for it. It's not like you're going to be put in 'Proper Word Usage' prison for not using it like some other people do. You just gave it an added meaning. Have a blessed day!
