I totally agree with you on this A340-300. I flew this last weekend from Manchester to Los Angeles flight simulator. Really enjoyed it the details are hit and miss. Hopefully they will update the texture. Great video by the way. Thank you 🙏
Was a little bored of flying the Fenix, so watched this. Looking at all the horrible shortcomings of this bird, it has made me love the Fenix even more! How i wish someone could have come up with at least FBW level of realism in this otherwise underpowered but beautiful bird in real life! If you can't do a basic DIFFSRIP, you should not be charging a premium for it at all!!!
I always play the A320sim pilot "but, there we go" drinking game, everytime you hear "but, there we go" take a swig, you get really shitfaced if a particularily lousy product gets reviewed. Another fabulous video chief!
I've always had a soft spot for the A340 (along with any quadjet). It was the right plane for the wrong time, a situation Airbus unfortunately seems to find themselves in sometimes. Great review!
I definitely think this was a fair review and one I was waiting for. All other reviews just seemed to want to rush them out there to say "LVFR, don't buy" and didn't really have any justification behind their words.
In 2002, while Steve Fossett was flying around the world in a balloon, an acquaintance who flew A340s for Air Canada joked that he wished his aircraft was that fast.
The physics alone look like a big no no, seems very balloony. Also under sensitive (like on takeoff) and oversensitive (when landing) at other times. Rather lazy and lackluster on the avionics side, let alone its fidelity.
If I'm not mistaken the cabin ceiling modeled is of a boeing aircraft, it's for sure not the one from the a340. So the modelling is very nice indeed, just occasionally of the wrong aircraft
I too have purchased this model, driven by a love of the aircraft that was enhanced by 26 trips over a four year period between my home in Australia and office in Santiago in what were then LAN Chile aircraft. I think your recommendations and conclusions are spot on. For me the value is somewhat a reminder of great flights in the real aircraft via lovely engine sounds and great over wing views from the cabin. If a better version came out I would also buy it but for now this will with all its flaws suffice. Now where is the 600? Lol oh and on a personal level 4 engines does feel safer than ETOPS twins, irrationally perhaps but that’s what I experience on long flights over the southern Pacific. Thanks for a great and accurate review, hoping Lvfr complete their planned further work.
Every flight sent developer is known for something. hitting the ball out of the park on the first try or selling a half baked product that needs a little bit of work. I think that’s something I learned the last few years of FS2020.
I too love the A340, those 4 engines are just the best (well, maybe not as good as a 707 or DC-8!), but the avionics shortcomings would drive me bonkers on Vatsim. I'll certainly keep an eye on it, and if they can get it to 'Vatsim standard', then I'll be in!
I enjoyed the presentation as I’ve been flying the LVFR A340 for a few days. Personally, I love the aircraft in sim and really enjoy flying it. I’m an X Box X user so don’t have the option of the Fenix A320. I have the JF BAE146 which I also enjoy flying. Do I think it is value for money? Yes, for me and my requirements in sim. LVFR recently updated the A318 and A320 CEO and I’m hopeful they will do the same with the A340.
I'll have to say. I think the price of the plane could be cheaper. I might get it on a sale, but there's nothing that's scaring me away from flying this plane. Sure it as issues, but they're not games breaking for me. I just want a working long haul plane that will get me from point a to b
In general, this value for money think is hard. I had the LVFR A320 because I'm on xbox and it was better than the default version that you get with msfs. (I know there's a new one coming) LVFR A320 was about 25 quid from memory, I had many hours of enjoyment out of it, it wasn't brilliant by any means. I got my monies worth. Its all very subjective I suppose. There's also the fact some don't have alot of spare income. (Me! Lol) Great video!
I really gave this airplane the benefit of the doubt all the way through your review but the combination of direct to, and no V nav for decent or at least an EFB tod calculator like the 320NX had is a deal breaker for me
Great video! All the airplane I have traveled with has made a hekk of a noice after landing when using the reverse thrust. Why can't MSFS simulate that?
Hi 320SP!, I hope you are well and flying straight and steady!, I have a quick question…in the Fenix A320 on multiple occasions now, when I load my flight plan in the MCDU I come across “flight discontinuity” (on the approach leg), when I try to clear this it wont allow this action and actually says NOT ALLOWED??, probably a simple thing I’m missing but any help would be really appreciated. Love the awesome videos as they are so helpful for simmers like me. Thanks 320SP 😊
As an Xbox user I use their A320ceo as it’s the only option we have other than the very basic default a320neo, it’s not bad considering our limited options. Their a321 on the other hand though isn’t great, it feels very floaty is how I can best describe it and extremely sensitive on the controls, I always end up tail striking it when taking off. Just settling in now to watch this video to see your thoughts on the a340. Edit, after watching this video I don’t think I’ll be buying this. Thanks for your review :) Think I’ll stick to the 787.
Will these bugs and inops be updated in further development or is this the final livery and you can check your creditcard? Or will it get better as FENIX did with the 320 but the 340 maybe an early bird bringing in and let the community fly with it an cope with the problems sthose who are the most present?
In my opinion, not allowing horizon sim to make mods for their aircraft was a terrible business decision for latinvfr, LVFR make great models, but the systems and realism are so low in fidelity that it's just not really enjoyable. I do get that latinvfr only wishes to make entry level easy to operate aircraft, but it's genuinely uncomfortable operating any latinvfr aircraft. The a320 family was saved only by the free add on horizon sim provided for it, I still to this day have absolutely zero clue why latinvfr suddenly didn't want people to make addons anymore, considering how many people were buying their aircraft because of the addons.
Great video but a bit long for us that cant watch that many hour+ videos. Would be lovely to get a 'Conclusion' at the end with pros/cons. Thanks again!
I was hoping you'd review the A340 for a real pilot perspective. There are some unfair myths about the A340. One being that it's 'underpowered' . It was adequately powered nothing more nothing less. It has four engines so, unlike a twin, an EFATO results in only a 25% loss of thrust. Hence, it doesn't need the power to fly on one engine.
The A340 will fly on 2 engines, don’t ask me how I know! My 747 colleagues were teasing me that I was flying an aircraft with hair dryers as engines, but when I experienced a two engine failure just after takeoff, she kept me alive and I’m still grateful for the A-340
As botched as LVFRs planes may be, Airbus makes such good looking planes that it's still so cool to see them in the sim. As others have said, bring on the Fenix renditions.
Yeah not for me, it hard enough in sim with sim issues - I know the “cheaper” payware sometimes sell well but I’d rather have an excellent product with all systems & avionics working correctly for more than not.
I honestly had pretty low expectations for this release. I am pleasantly surprised by some of things. Ultimately it is pretty typical of LVFR. Good visual model, but systems lacking depth. It's built to a price point and that's fair enough. Although it is a little hard to tell what are bugs and what are just "not implemented". You made a comment about 1/3 into the video saying that these issues annoy you more if you know Airbus's really well and it's more suited to people who don't care as much, but then at the end you came to the same conclusion that A330Driver did in one of his videos, which is that beginners should really invest in high fidelity addons like the Fenix, because beginners will get confused by all the little bugs and the workarounds that you needed to do to "babysit" this plane and get it to behave. It's counter intuitive, but it makes sense.
Utter pants. Quite frankly. It may have been okay 20 years ago, but in this day & age? Don't know how they can justify it being a chargeable product. This must be a great source of entertainment to Fenix and FBW. We do appreciate your time though Captain, as always.
Thanks for the rerview. I find this a bit disappointing. Simplified airliners are targeted at people that are new to flightsimming or don`t want to spend hours reading through manuals, but it seems those are exactly the kind of people that shouldn't`t fly this plane as it will confuse them. I am with you that it is very beautiful, but I think I will wait and see if all the bugs get addressed.
LVFR really shot themselves in the foot big time by alienating themselves from Horizons Simulation. The FBW mod would have been the only saving grace for this aircraft. Otherwise it’s just not up to standards at all!
I mean, great to have a 340 in the sim but I think it’s slightly laughable to make it payware considering the headwind a330 is freeware along with the fbw A32NX. I won’t be purchasing
The fair tracks on the plane’s wongs are not accurate😢 they copy pasted the A330-Neo’s fair tracks. Hopefully they fix it to have a more accurate model.

If only put time into proper screens, knobs and systems nobody would be talking about them as much. But what I’ve seen from UA-cam is, a lot of flight sim content creators have been using CapSim planes since MSFS 2020 has been released. I haven’t seen many videos with LVFR planes being used. Just my opinion
I’ve got it and it’s a handfull, climbs slowly, a lot of bugs but it flew. Hopefully an update soon . I am not unhappy I bought it, 😂not sure if my review helps you

I thought that we have to do with a real pilot, an expert that can tell us on professional level more about this model. Wrong!
