  • Seasonally-themed songs and verses are a wonderful way for children to experience the rhythm of the year. In this week's "Sunday with Sarah," I share a few of my favorites for autumn. Enjoy!
Words to the songs and verses are posted below. Have your own favorites? Share them in the comments!
WAY UP HIGH IN THE APPLE TREE
Way up high in the apple tree
Two little apples smiled down at me.
I shook that tree just as hard as I could
And down came the apples, and "Mmm," they were good!
    JACK-O-LANTERN
    Jack-O-Lantern, Jack-O-Lantern
You are such a funny sight
As you sit there in my window
    Looking out at the night.
You were once a yellow pumpkin
    Growing on a sturdy vine
    Now you are my Jack-O-Lantern
    Let your golden light shine.
    LANTERN WALK SONG
I go with my bright little lantern,
My lantern is going with me.
In heaven the stars will be shining,
On earth shines my lantern for me.
The lights grow dim as we go in
    La-bimba-la-bomba-la-boom
The lights grow dim as we go in
    La-bimba-la-bomba-la-boom.
    MEAL TIME SONG
Blow winds blow, and go wheel go
That the miller may grind his corn
That the baker may take it and into bread bake it
And bring us a loaf in the morn, bring us a loaf in the morn.
