Fascinating walk with great info 👍...I live in Middleton Freshwater, I've just subscribed to your channel- it's wonderful to learn more about our beautiful island !
Excellent video. It has inspired me to complete my own trek/scramble/fight aling the trackbed east of Wellow 😊 Thank you so much for posting, very timely
At the old bridge before Betty Haunt land was a bad crash, that resulted in carriages veibg cut up site. On the private section is one of the rare concrete bridges
Thankyou so much! I've walked a short part of this line and found Watchingwell and found all the other stations or what remains of them, if anything, on this line but its so lovely to see it walked from start to finish. I'm over on the Island next June (can't wait) and think a trip to Newport will be on the list of 'to do' things so I can explore in a bit more detail. Thankyou again...I look forward to the next one.
There are still artifacts behind the cricket ground. The last prison break in the 1950's resulted in the escapees hiding out in the then closed Carisbrooke Station they had broken into a newsagents and stole booze and cigarettes........A local bobby went on his rounds and thought he.would check out the old station found cigarette packets outside and the prisoners within. The old FYN offices used to stand where the Ambulance roof is now at Newport..there are still some.FYNR buildings left in Newport. The old buildings that was once CAB are old FYNR store housing
Nice carriage find, looks like a brake van
