The Chiefs kicker told a bunch of college graduates at their commencement that women are better served as homemakers, accordingly I made the point that tradwife aesthetic is a new phenomenon as it is a reactionary response to women’s civil rights and cultural/workforce gains made over the last 70 years. The distinction between “true” old-fashioned women’s living and “tradwife” aesthetic is that the former largely had no alternative as they were dependent on the men in their lives, and the latter exists in a culture that is more accepting of women’s individuality - meaning “tradwifes” would rather surrender those gains women fought for because the aesthetic postures itself as a heightened set of ideals (when it is not) The idea of traditionalist values being elevated in some way is dangerously close to fascist rhetoric (modern living and modern art being ‘impure’ is a commonplace talking point)
