The omni tool is a implant, something called spatial coordinates, you need a biotic implant to use biotic powers, mass effect has some powerful medicine and antibiotics, and laser eye surgery
I'm pretty sure Kaiden said that he born with biotics because his dad worked around element zero or something like that before he was born and went to brain camp to get the implant. liara does say all asari are born with it.
The codex describes them as handheld devices so I based it off the idea of that. Asari are born with biotics Yes it has powerful medicine and eye surgery, but was making a joke and having fun with the video
You know there are translators that are commonly implanted in the ear or weaved into clothes or even in common datapads, right. You don’t require just an omni for translation. Biotics babies would still need implants, amplifiers and training to do anything so no worries there. And there are treatments for the eyesight and everything else. I believe Ashley got treated for her eye problem.
It’s actually mentioned in the games that the human race ages to around 150 years and because of the scientific/medical advances in the world of mass Effect, nearly all diseases that afflict humans have been eradicated, so they shouldn’t really get sick or headaches, but only really serious and new diseases that is unknown to them will affect them
IRC biotic abilities are weak on their own. They get amplified by amps and such. Even Asari need to train and develope them. So I doubt any baby would have the ability to naturally lift an adult and similar stuff.
I'm thinking of that biotic Volos you can convince to fight along side you on Illium. His biotic abilities are weaker than a pea-shooter without training and an amp.
Omi-tools are likely light, and wrist mounted when not active. Probably no bigger than a bracelet, and are likely so common that each person (who can afford it) has a spare, or can be given one on loan. Also, who the hell hears an asari speaking gibberish and doesn't immediately suspect that they forgot their omni-tool? They're so much more a part of life than phones are that people probably even sleep with them on. Left of Jupiter? You realize they have not only distress beacons which can allow pretty much any ship in existence to lock onto their position, but that ships can also be targeted due to their heat signature. Hence the Normandy's top of the line stealth systems, which allows it to be thermally invisible for a long while. ON TOP OF THAT, I do hope you're aware that we do have astronomical measurements even now that can be used to pinpoint locations in space. Before a biotic can utilize their biotic powers they have to have to have implants put into their heads that allows them to control and shape the form of their attacks. Even if infants did have the capability to lift a table and throw it out of a window, I can almost guarantee that there would be come kind of biotic suppressant medication that prevents them from having access to their powers until adulthood. Lastly, you realize that not many people just walk onto a new planet, take their helmet off, and take a breath of fresh air, right? To do so you would either have to be Krogan, or stupid. An enormous amount of study would have to go into a planet before it would be inhabitable, and even then people would probably be set up in colonies with "protections" from said bacteria. Then again, it's Mass Effect, so they probably have some kind of immuno-shield medication that protects them from all but the strongest of diseases (like the one on Omega). In the ME universe, we've literally colonized dozens of worlds, visit others with no consequences, and basically live every day life among aliens who all have sicknesses of their own. So if it were a problem, I imagine we'd still be on Earth rather than dating Asari on the Citadel. Lastly, I leave you with this post from the wiki. Gene Therapy - Gene therapy is the insertion of genes into an individual's cells and tissues to alter the person's DNA. Gene therapy allows for the treatment of genetic disorders by replacing a defective mutant allele with a functional one using a carrier, also known as a vector, to deliver the therapeutic gene to the patient's target cells. Currently, the most common type of vectors are viruses that have been genetically altered to carry normal human DNA. Glasses aren't a thing because humans don't need them anymore. Eyesight can be fixed as easily as a cavity at that point. And I imagine that surgery regarding the eyes is better than ever before, so even people with fading eyesight with age would likely not have to worry about using glasses.
BioWareFollower I had no idea either and have been playing since release, numerous run-throughs, read and listened to the codex numerous times. I thought the actual “tool” was more akin to a wristband, with older versions being gauntlet or glove-like that worked *through* an implanted bio chip. Omni-tool upgrades certainly don’t resemble implants in the pictures.
if I recall the codex correctly Universal translators can also work via sub-dermal implanted. As for the sight issues the codex says that do to gene therapy "This has nearly eliminated everything from cystic fibrosis to nearsightedness."
I feel like most of these problems can actually be easily fixed and explained away... 1. I was always under the impression that the Omni-Tool was some kinda implant or part of their clothing or something. Every time someone uses it, they’re never actually holding anything, they just lift up their arm and boom, the orange hologram just appears there, almost as if they just turned it on with their brain or something. Also the only time the universal translator is referenced is when Femshep is talking to Thane. He calls her “Siha” and she’s all “oh, I think my translator’s malfunctioning” and when she says that he taps the side of her head, as if it was implanted into her ear...which, again, is what I always assumed was the case. 2. No, I don’t think that’s just a game mechanic thing, I think when a ship runs out of fuel there is an automatic pilot thingy that turns on and automatically takes the ship back to the nearest mass relay. And besides, astronomical coordinates are a thing you know. Starship computers always record them and have them available, yo could “ask your friend” to get you at the coordinates your computer says you’re at. 3. Ok this one isn’t even a maybe, you definitely need implants to use biotics. And I’m pretty certain they don’t give those implants to babies. Really, this only applies to Asari babies, and I don’t think their biotic abilities manifest until, like, adolescence or something. I mean Asari have elementary schools that have “Biotics Class” for crying out loud... 4. Remember in mass effect 1 where every time you got back on the Normandy, that....thing would kinda scan you and go back and forth over s few times? I’m preeety sure that was decontaminating everyone who got on the ship, which would in theory seriously lessen the chance of alien diseases. One problem I always think of is; what if Shepard is in the middle of a mission but has to use the bathroom?
Trying to find someone in space...this is why we use coordinates when we get lost. Further, so much of what you do in your day-to-day life is tracked it's not even funny. You would only be as stranded as it took for help to arrive.
I just remembered that the doctor who diagnoses Samara's daughters as Ardaht-Yakshi is near-sighted. Don't know for sure if she wears glasses or just suffers through near sightedness. ua-cam.com/video/iS7IvHcFkFA/v-deo.html relevant part around 7:20
One omni tool would be sufficient to carry out a conversation. Universal translators in science fiction tend to only require one party to have them else you’d be reliant on species you encounter also having a translator. Right?
I think video game makers and video game players both think way too much...we enjoy video games because they allow us to think as much as we want -- in both direction and magnitude!
Eric Ness It's not. It's so he can Snipe better. It's a turian version of a targeting visor. There's a human version of it you can equip on Shepard too.
Timothy 1395 I completely agree with you. I was trying to be funny (which doesn't always come across well in text). Though I've often wondered why he never takes it off. He even has it on in the romance scenes. Maybe the developers think we won't recognise him without it?
The Coolest thing is, some citizens of the galaxy decided to actually learn the alien languages, as a sign of respect for the culture. IIRC i read it on the wiki maybe.
Timothy 1395 Yeah that makes more sense. I mean you'd think the council would risk people forgetting omni-tools when there would be catastrophic consequences should a general or anybody lose it... implants of some kind would be much more smarter and effective.
They all speak English anyway :) and, well an Omni tool is attached as an implant in arm or brain or anything, so gl forgetting it. Ships are running on eezo and h fuel cells...that's enough power (hence fuel) for years Also babies can't use biotics. No one can (reasonably) without amps to focus it. Bacteria? No issue with their hard suits and advanced med bays and officers and ALL THE KNOWLEDGE IN THE GALAXY
Ships have distress beacons.
yes

Mecha-san
Wait, you're a Mass Effect fan? I regularly watch your videos man! Guess your Red and Black colour scheme makes sense now ....

I always thought Omni tools were implanted in the arm.
it is, I don't know if the guy in the video knows though
The codex describes them as handheld devices so I based it off the idea of that.
Oh okay. You just always see people with short sleeves in the game.
me too
you forgot, there are no babies or kids in MEU... have you seen a single one? except that one in brief on ME3?
IRC biotic abilities are weak on their own. They get amplified by amps and such. Even Asari need to train and develope them. So I doubt any baby would have the ability to naturally lift an adult and similar stuff.

2:50 COORDINATES TUCKER, COORDINATES
Good video. Nice to see some people still talking about this game series while it's on Hiatus.
I thought biotic ability didn't express itself until puberty?
Been a long time Tucker. Sound different. You sound more confident and more energised in this vid. Good to hear from you again.
Big situation changed in my life. Had a hard time with it but now realizing that my life is better with this.
if I recall the codex correctly Universal translators can also work via sub-dermal implanted. As for the sight issues the codex says that do to gene therapy "This has nearly eliminated everything from cystic fibrosis to nearsightedness."
I always walk outside with a hat on.
I'm sure I'd be one of those that never forget his Omni tool
"adn your volus boss sounds like Darth Vader wtih a bowl of spaghetti in his mouth" LOL
I feel like most of these problems can actually be easily fixed and explained away...

Welcome back tucker :) great video
Can't forget your omnitool, it's how you unlock your door to get out of your house in the first place...
Its stated in the lore that humanity has achieve immunity to almost all kind of disease. Healthcare mostly for trauma related case
I noticed that there are no overweight people in the MEU, like literally no one. Everybody slim and sexy.
that last one actually happened with the Angara in Andromeda
Stuff like ur ship breaking down is actually quit common. All u need to know it what system ur in then rescue teams can easily scan that system
Trying to find someone in space...this is why we use coordinates when we get lost. Further, so much of what you do in your day-to-day life is tracked it's not even funny. You would only be as stranded as it took for help to arrive.

It's good to hear your voice again, Tucker! Great video.
hmmm.... well a big problem would be that due to air cars being a thing. car crashes are now a LOT more deadly.
There is and only has ever been one damned child in the entire franchise and he ended up being a Reaper pawn. WHERE ARE ALL THE CHILDREN AND BABIES???
Logan C They didn't make models for them so it would fit their budget. That's why we see no females of other alien races accept in Andromeda.
Great video! Good to have you back
i would imagine one of the alien races would pick up on the obvious mistake pretty quickly and realize he cant understand them...
kittyfoxkitsune Like the Angara when you first meet them.
One omni tool would be sufficient to carry out a conversation. Universal translators in science fiction tend to only require one party to have them else you’d be reliant on species you encounter also having a translator. Right?
I think that the omni tool is some kind of subdermal implant mate
I think video game makers and video game players both think way too much...we enjoy video games because they allow us to think as much as we want -- in both direction and magnitude!
Jaal has a monocle, which is half a pair of glasses...
That is in Andromeda
BioWareFollower then I guess Garrus's visor probably doesn't count as a monocle either.... lol
Eric Ness It's cause the visor holds personal significance to him apparently. As for the romance scenes I have no clue why he keeps it on then.
The Coolest thing is, some citizens of the galaxy decided to actually learn the alien languages, as a sign of respect for the culture. IIRC i read it on the wiki maybe.
Learning alien languages is mandatory in the Alliance (opposed by Terra Firma)
Deseases can't cross species barriers.
welcome back, its been a few months
George NoX Happy to be back - Tucker
I expected something along the lines of "Bruce is an asari. Bruce needs to drop a deuce, where is she gonna go?"
Tucker is back! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
I actually never thought about the spread of disease.
There's a translator implant. Omnitools come in wearable and implant form
Jared Masten The ones you use in Mass Effect are hand held though for Omni-tools.
Wait, the universal translator was inside the Omni-tool this whole time?? I could have sworn it was somewhere/thing else...
I'm pretty sure it's an implant in their ear or something cause they press it when talking sometimes.
Timothy 1395 Yeah that makes more sense. I mean you'd think the council would risk people forgetting omni-tools when there would be catastrophic consequences should a general or anybody lose it... implants of some kind would be much more smarter and effective.
Dayvo The omni tools aren't implants I'm pretty sure they're hand held.
...i know.
Biotics r actually quit weak with out biotic amplifiers. With out amps I doubt a full grown adult could pick up a simple golf ball nevermind a child
Where.Is.the.podcast.
great video Tucker, had a good laugh
do the star wars movies exist in the mass effect universe?
...... Do they?
Probably since it's just supposed to be our future.
This was precious 😆
Its the future ... all OF this Will be solved basically
Uhhh....really?
All the facts you pointed out are not flaws... You are just not knowledgeable enough about mass effect universe... No offence...
They all speak English anyway :) and, well an Omni tool is attached as an implant in arm or brain or anything, so gl forgetting it.
Ships are running on eezo and h fuel cells...that's enough power (hence fuel) for years
Also babies can't use biotics. No one can (reasonably) without amps to focus it.
Bacteria? No issue with their hard suits and advanced med bays and officers and ALL THE KNOWLEDGE IN THE GALAXY
PutaPaiPer Omni-tools are actually hand held according to the Codex. I just looked it up to be sure too.
Timothy 1395 yes, that's where you use them, in your hands. Otherwise the Omni tool's projector is implanted or fused on a suit (quarians etc.)
