Or, if there were a parallel runway, it could be alerting of traffic on that runway taking off/landing The ATC would make sure that there was no traffic issues during an approach like this. Thats why the pilots did nothing about it.
Nahum Strickland Warnings of proximity are common, what you do NOT want to hear is "Climb !, Climb !" (or "Descend !", Descend !"). If those go unheeded you will get a '"INCREASE CLIMB !", or "INCREASE DESCEND". Look up "Air Crash Investigations - Deadly Crossroads".

Its pretty incredible the engineering and fine tuning process over the years have now made it possible to these kind of things. As a passenger it is my dream to get an opportunity to ride the cockpit jumpseat. Would be like a kid in a candy shop only NO PRESSING BUTTONS !

+danahan01 Not really, there's very little room for error in an Autoland approach. Also crews have been trained specifically and are extra cautious and alert. Kind of the same reason why there never were any serious accidents landing in Hong Kong Kai Tak.
jibeneyto So I looked it up and a total of 195 people were killed at Kai Tak before it closed. I guess if you don't count death as being "serious" then there were no serious accidents at Kai Tak.

It is absolutely amazing how those planes can land them selves dead center on the runway all by them self. Even tho I know the system works, it would still likely skeer the crap outta me the first few times using it.
I find myself stumped at identifying the rrrrrrt rrrrrrt rrrrrrrrt sound at 3:22. Thrust reverser engagement perhaps? That would be about the right timing for it.
