I agree with you about the skid steer. They weren’t made for a full grown man to operate. It’s tough to operate with your knees hitting your chest. 🤣🤣🤣
Hurry up and wait. ✋️ That's the way it always works. Just when you think you're catching up, nope, something always happens to keep you from getting ahead of the game. From the looks of it, based on the last video, I bet you have plenty of work you can do inside while you're waiting on it to dry up a little bit. 😉
Love the videos thanks for all the effort to post. Question, I was wondering if you post the actual day you made each video to keep up with where you guys are on the calendar with timing, weather and etc. Thanks and a speedy safe harvest. Sorry if I missed it somewhere.
Well, I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. I try to put them out as fast as I can but that’s kind of hard because I’m also farming. I am about a week behind on getting the videos out. But now that I’m in a tractor all day, I am trying to get them out faster to catch up.
Good.luck with harvest We started a week ago and have not accomplished much Engine went on other tractor on 2nd day going My digger blew fan belt and had to wait for new one next day Then tractor fan belt blew Then new tractor for other digger had issues Then he blew drive chains out Now we been rained out last 3 days Fun times 😂
Oh man it sounds like your harvest is becoming kind of a nightmare. I’m sorry to hear that. That’s always the worst. That sounds like our harvest from last year. We had a lot of problems so far everything‘s running pretty smooth this year.
We start harvesting potatoes a few weeks ago (North of Germany) and rain is comming at the end of this week. Hopefully not that much as last year 🙈. Keep up your great work I’m very curious about how your new equipment is running! 😃👍🏼
Fitting chains/webs in the U.K. 40 years ago they were endless so you had to remove the complete side of the machines and slide them on, and being an apprentice guess what job you were given
I wonder if a bale hook would help in threading those belts??? do you get pinched fingers from the belt articulating? maybe not a bale hook with such a big hook but I think you get the idea, a hook to reach in and grab the steel bars of the chain to help thread it. IDK just a thought for ya :)
" How many farmers does it take to put the chains on"? I'm glade we had 2 row harvesters and windrowers, but we had hook chain not belted. Are your pipe movers Peruvian?
Put the star rollers in a bucket of hot water they expand a little and makes it easier to put them on the shaft
That’s a good tip
This reminds me of my erector set when I was a child. I knew then I would never be good at mechanical things. You and your team are awesome!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. We do have a pretty good crew.
Watching you guys put those chains on. Makes changing a feeder house chain look easy
It definitely can be difficult.
Little tip. Unhook the speed chain so you don't have to pull the chain over the sprockets. So much easier.
That would be easier
Learned my Spanish just like what you're doing working along side with them
Good way to do it

Yeah they don’t design things for big guys.
Wow that was a major job.
It is a big job.
When those are hooked up and running in the field, they do not look as massive as they do with you guys standing next to it! 😮
Yeah, it’s kind of deceiving how big they are.
Jeez wiz............changing feeder house chain is a snap compared to your potato harvestor !!! Greetings from Illinois
Yes, changing the chains on a potato harvester is very difficult. Glad you enjoyed it.
Your video is really impressive, I like it.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it

Yeah, we still have a lot to do
Hand cleaner is best for the rollers
Interesting

How many brothers do you have. 🤔
I have two but one of them doesn’t work on the farm, my brother and my brother-in-law work on the farm

Great awesome video, looks like fun bud , i would help doing that
Glad you enjoyed it
Next time Use a 12volt electric Winch for the pulling power!
That would work
Looks like the chain improvement has made things harder than they were before. Still need engineers to do the field work
It is a little difficult to put on, but it runs better

Yeah, I know with potatoes it’s always a rush to get them out of the ground before the rain comes or in our case the snow
Fitting chains/webs in the U.K. 40 years ago they were endless so you had to remove the complete side of the machines and slide them on, and being an apprentice guess what job you were given
That sounds pretty awful
Dang to much work all I wanted was some French fries 🍟
This is what you have to do to get french fries
Use Bacon grease next time for Lubricant!
I bet that would work pretty good.
How many family members work on the farm? How many employees? Seasonal employees? Noted people speaking Spanish.
👍👍🇺🇸
During harvest, we have probably 15 family members working and another 15 that aren’t family as well as all of our pipe movers from Mexico

That would probably work pretty good maybe a custom-made tool similar to that would work.
@@RockyMountainFarmer exactly my thought, maybe as simple as a bent piece of rebar used in concrete
Luckily, we don’t have to do that very often.
" How many farmers does it take to put the chains on"? I'm glade we had 2 row harvesters and windrowers, but we had hook chain not belted. Are your pipe movers Peruvian?
The pipe movers are Mexican. It would be hard to dig 1300 acres in 2 weeks with a 2 row.
Most the framers around hire South Africans. I’m driving Corn silage truck and they have 2 of them working for there feedlot and farms
I think we were digging about 500 acres of spuds , the early ones we trucked to Heyburn.
Holy crap hes very short
Yes, he is
@@farmshoffman8475 and they are really tall brothers!
Yeah, I think he’s not quite 5 feet tall and I am almost 6’6”. So my camera angle doesn’t really help him.
