"I want more shows like Frieren" I see it often, and even tell it to myself, but what exactly are we asking for? We go on about the character building, the pacing, etc. But, when it comes down to it, I think all we're really asking for is story telling for an emotionally mature audience, that doesn't patronize, is balanced, isn't over-the-top melodramatic, doesn't try to be "deep" in a contrived way, with good animation, voice acting and a sound track that draws you in.
Totally agree on the direction and music. I don't understand how is it possible that there aren't that many people gushing over the amazing work done by Evan Call. The OST is perfect, damn
Music is so vital for me to connect to something that extra level. Like I do with Vinland or FMAB. Frieren with Evan Call's score is like a direct gateway to my heart. I feel bad for not even talking about it that long. Evan Call deserves so much praise.
I've seen that image of Frieren floating motionless in the river dozens of times now thanks to all these UA-cam videos on the show, but actually looking it beyond the quality of the art it really does serve so well as a visual metaphor for her character. A calm, unchanging body caught in an unceasing flow. It's certainly a pleasant feeling in its own way, but also pretty numbing.
For me, one of the best ever, for sure. Right up there with Cowboy Bebop, Violet Evergarden, Durarara!!, Your Lie in April, Bocchi the Rock, and The Apothecary Diaries (imagine both of these gems running semi-concurrently! We live in amazing times). And yeah...at 65 years old, the time just flies by any more. Such is life...
I havent seen a single one of those anime that you have mentioned. Even though in the past 2 years I have made a conscious effort to catch up. I still have so much to go to really experience what is out there. Thank you for the comment. And for watching this video.
@DareToEntertain they are all amazing. Violet Evergarden is what convinced me to finally give anime a shot. Frieren just hits me with a nostalgia for friends that I had forgotten, but my experiences with them shaped me into who I am today.
@@IamDrShizno Violet Evergarden is one of my all-time favorite series in _any_ medium. I've never been so absurdly pleased to find myself with tears streaming down my face multiple times (and even straight-up ugly crying...Ep10).
Really appreciated the shout out to Mallorie Rodak's portrayal of Frieren. I, of course, love me some Atsumi Tanezaki, too. But she gets enough praise for her portrayal, I don't need to add more to it. Mallorie was my first introduction to the character and she did such a phenomenal job with it. She deserves all kinds of love for it.
People have mentioned some really good ones in the comments already: Cowboy Bebop, Violet Evergarden, Your Lie in April, and so on. I'll add a few that, while they aren't always great (some are), are still very much worth watching I think. A Place Further than the Universe, The Ancient Magus' Bride, Shadows House, Fruits Basket, A Sign of Affection, The Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts, Oshi no Ko, Chihayafuru, and Princess Jellyfish. Quite a bit different in tone than all of those, but also one I think about often, is Dirty Pair. There are others, but these are what I thought of immediately as ones that keep coming up in my mind as time goes on. Plus, I didn't want to overload this comment with shows.
Thank you Mate. Really means a lot to have you check this out even if you haven't seen the show. We also gotta talk about the most recent Xmen episodes. Unreal.
Frieren Ousama ranking and dungeon meshi are definitely my top 3 new fantasy anime they're all such wonderful stories with such great characters they all surprised with how much I fell for them
Me too man. At this point it’s just too expensive to do that. My ideal length would easily be avg 20min. Then longer for longer videos. But I yeah just can’t afford to.
Okay this is insane. I have NEVER heard of this Apothecary Diaries. Then under this video youll see just SO many people talking about it. I will try get to this asap. Ill be going in blind.
That spelling mistake will follow you for the rest of your life. Your children will know, and all future generations hence forth. Pepperidge farms will remember... and so will Frieren.
Yeah, i think im not into Frieren because i lack this soulcrushing feeling that you experience when there's not much revealed. I just don't feel anything when i'm presented with a tragedy without the details. I mean, in To Your Eternety for example, you first have some wholesome moments with characters before they die, but i do grant that their deaths play out in a heavily forced manner. Still, at least it made me feel like i cared somewhat about them, where as in Frieren, they give you a few lines to create a concept, which is supposed to be enough, to make you care about them. Like nah bro, if Frieren's party would have died at the academy, i wouldn't have given a f***.
When I say Need more like Frieren. I don't mean more anime's that are about little elf's that are mages. I mean the exact second sentence. Anime or anything that can be watched the same way we watched Frieren. Its such a slow and plodding journey that makes you look inwards in a way I havent really done since ATLA during my covid binge.
What Anime have you seen that has surprised you? Let me know down here and maybe I’ll check it out and cover it
Pokemon
Vivi Florite surprised me.
Leon...
Havent heard of Vivi Florite. Very interesting.
to your eternity

Yup. Just all of that, at the same time, and perfectly balanced.
So Apothecary Diaries basically 😉
i also want a lot more visual/audio story telling and less exposition/dialogue
SO many comments saying this. I NEED to get onto this.

Back to back frieren videos, let's go!
An anime so good I had to talk about it twice.

Another great watch, good job guys

@@DareToEntertain they are amazing
Strangely enough almost all of kyoani does this to me, from clannad, k-on, haruhi suzumiya, violet evergarden... heck even nichijou
This is a good point. And Nichijou is amazing.
violet evergarden is on my "Charles you need to watch this asap" list. But I will absolutely try and get to the others.
Nice vid man, you got a new subscriber
Frieren Ousama ranking and dungeon meshi are definitely my top 3 new fantasy anime they're all such wonderful stories with such great characters they all surprised with how much I fell for them
I need to watch dungeon meshi. When I first heard about it I wrote it off. But no one I know has disliked it and has said nothing but great things.
She frie on my ren till I go beyond my journey's end
Its honestly impressive at this point.
Kinda wish these videos were longer 😭

We are DTE subscribers, of course we are going to watch the video in the first 10 minutes
Your support has always meant so much. Thank you
Check out Apothecary Diaries, Maomao is easily one of the best new gen main characters alongside Frieren
Okay this is insane. I have NEVER heard of this Apothecary Diaries. Then under this video youll see just SO many people talking about it. I will try get to this asap. Ill be going in blind.
@@DareToEntertain I've seen it and it's good
If Witch Hat Atelier adaptation in the future.
There is one spelling mistake in this video. It’s minor but know that I know. Let’s see how many people actually notice.

Such blasphemy, unforgivable.
I think the author also changed our life with telling he wanted to tell

Frieren score on MAL just went down from 9.39 to 9.38. What's wrong with those FMA weirdoes? Why can't they enjoy the success of other shows?
Heyy its still number 1 baby. Hopefully it can stay there.
Letssssss goooooo new vid
Hype!!! Big month ahead. 3 videos in 11 days so far. More to come!

समझ में कम आया पर मस्त लगा।
My little monster is such a good anime but it is painfully underrated
We do not need more anime like frieren. Let freiren shine and stand alone. Im sure someone else will captivate us in a new and spectacular way again

No, we don't need any more average anime like Frieren.
Have fun watching it win anime of the year 😂
