I think the line that allowed me to like War as a character, was the response to the Bat Queen Tiamats proposal for a bargin "you wont like my terms." I nomally dont like characters for being grim badasses but that one stuck with me. Probably because of how cheeky it really is.
Big fan of Darksiders, it sucks that the original devs weren't able to complete their vision, but I still enjoy what we got. Also, glad you touched on Samael, he's my favorite character and I'm pretty sure that they would have originally had you put him in charge of Hell at some point in the original idea for the series
Well most of the team that worked on the Darksiders (art team, level designers, story writers) are working on Darksiders 3 as well! So their vision might still be completed.
I believe what they meant, but poorly explained about the councils decision to frame War, was that if they sent the horsemen to slaughter abaddon, (and ostensibly azrael and ulthane but maybe not) to the angels (and possibly the makers) it would appear that the council had the horsemen arbitrarily execute a powerful and outstanding member of their denizen with no evidence to back up their reasoning. Therefore they had to wait until abaddon and co. actually committed their act before passing judgement. This of course raises a slew of additional questions, centering on the councils actual scrying or monitoring capabilities, and ability to act within a timely manner. Why not send all 4 horsemen while the whole breaking and reforging of the seals event takes place? If they were unable to determine the time and/or place of the breaking and reforging, how did they ever find out about abaddons plot in the first place? Do they in fact work for hell? Or perhaps a single member of the council does? But how does that work? The council doesnt seem to be able to leave each others presence. Like I said, many many more questions lol
"There is little you can keep from me Horsemen... once I have a mind to know it." - The Lord of the Black Stone, The Blood Prince, The Red Wanderer... Samael
This was an excellent Rumination. Always really liked this game and yes, I too play these games for the story. I come for the Story, stay for the awesome gameplay
it always gets me when someone said ""you're playing X game for the story"" well ye why else would i play a game, a good story well let me play a game with bad gameplay, but a bad story will make me put down a game with good gameplay.
Wow... This was an amazing watch! I had played the game before but never cared about the story. This time I am playing the Warmastered version and started paying attention so I searched for the lore and found this! Completely blew my mind! :o
actually I see Samuel loyal to "the dark Prince" sense in the comics he points out he is not the leader nor acts like it should be him despite all of creation see otherwise and he just didn't like a coward hanging around his master, he didn't do it cause jealousy or ambition just out of distrust in Abaddon and his conviction
It would be hard to make an action game for them though. Pestilence might be mage-like character, but what would Famine do? I, for one, don't like that they didn't make Death a female character.
Darksiders 1 is my favorite game of all time. I love the lore, characters, and the world. I also love the more casual hack and slash style of the franchise (never liked heavy complex combo games like the old DMC games... same reason I dislike fighting games).
While I like your work I have to point out on tiny nitpick. I feel like the 20 second intro in your videos is just a bit too long and unnecessary. You could easily cut it on half and get to the action far quicker. I know it's a small thing but with these long videos that you do, the faster you get into it, the better.
Is there anyway you could make yourself larger on screen for ruminations? I enjoy watching you talk about games but it's a little annoying that you are in just a tiny corner of the screen. There's so much room!

War is what I like to call "a badasshole"

I’d love to see you do this for Darksiders 2 as well. This was incredibly entertaining to listen to.
If God of War can move on to Norse mythology, I'm sure Darksiders can expand too. After Asura's Wrath Hindu seems pretty interesting.
Darksiders still has a way to go in its own mythos before expanding more upon it

I was just watching/listening to this again when at 1:50 you prophesied the future xD
So good, I love it :)
So short, I wish there was more of it :D
The Griever!
Can't wait for Darksiders 2 rumination
Great video! I love that others also have a god grasp on the lore and story like I do... it really is deep if you get into it.
i didnt realize while playing that the counile was who summoned and framed war

I did have Darksiders 1 and I'm pretty sure I finished it but I apparently didn't think much of it because I barely remember it now.

To be honest. I never liked how Famine and Pestilence were renamed Fury and Strife.
It would be hard to make an action game for them though. Pestilence might be mage-like character, but what would Famine do?
I, for one, don't like that they didn't make Death a female character.
Why should death be female..? Also, neither death or war really had powers specific to their names so it doesn't really matter at all.
Pestilence was originally conquest
No mention of Vulgrim!? :o
ZERO comments on this amazing game? Wow.
I dunno about Zelda. I guess its true, but when I first played Darksiders, I thought it was more akin to Prince of Persia. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Did you upload your Darksiders stream to UA-cam? I've tried looking for it but haven't found it

Warhammer 40k takes itself seriously?
