    Sorry to hear about Sandy, my condolences. Haven't watched any fuel system vids, but really enjoyed your fuel system review. Brilliant design for the 40 gal supply in the fuel system. I used to have a 36 ft sailboat with a diesel aux and with a very basic fuel filtration setup.

    Thank you so much for this video! I love seeing the actual workings of your boat. I love these boats, and your model in particular, but have accepted that I will probably never own one(not for lack of desire...)! You make videos that have real world application, they are interesting and I really love learning more about your boat. Thanks again, I'm a big fan.

    As for US Coast Guard, and Transport Canada, all new vessel builds, likely for the last 20 years, require fuel delivery from the top of the tank. No valves or hoses with a full tank of fuel behind them, to drain into the bilge, in event of failure.

    I would suggest fitting spring-loaded cocks to the lower side of the fuel Sight Gauges. In the event of a sight glass fracturing - your current set up would result in losing the contents of the tank down to the fracture level. The idea is that you only push the lower cock open in order to take the reading- release it and isolate the sight glass when reading has been taken. On a commercially-classed vessel you would have to have this arrangement.

    Great explanation of the fuel system! I have a question, as a novice. Flying aircraft, esp w jet engines we use a fuel additive called Prist. It prevents fuel from freezing and kills bacteria. The bacteria is where my question lies. Do you or others put any type of addictive in your fuel to prevent bacteria from growing if the fuel you buy is contaminated?
    Thanks, I love these videos. They are helping us learn so much before we buy our boat (Nordhavn)

    • @mvfreedom
      @mvfreedom  4 роки тому +2

      Michael Jackson we don’t put anything in the fuel. Some say the addictives can crystallize and cause issues. We use the boat frequently enough so it’s likely the fuel doesn’t have time to have growth. That’s likely a concern for boats that sit idle for longer periods.

    • @michae8jackson378

    As the holiday season draws near like to wish you and Elizabeth and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. One question about the fuel system, is there a filter or primary catch apparatus at the deck inlet that could or will try to prevent or filler contaminants in the shore fuel supply from making its way into your storage tanks.

    • @mvfreedom
      @mvfreedom  4 роки тому +2

      Harvey604 Journeyman no however there are funnels you can buy to help with that. We don’t use them, we hope for the best. We’ll probably get one though when we start cruising to countries where fuel quality isn’t as reliable as US & Canada.

No oil changes, oil filters, fuel filters, etc. (See my Twitter page under the same name as this comment to see just some of what this world is doing with Hydrogen). And the by-product of a Hydrogen fuel cell is basically pure water. Solar and/or wind power to split the water into Hydrogen and oxygen. Your water supply is your fuel. "Freedom".
