Thank you. I found you by searching for "how process Gotland fleece" - you were the first to come up. I'd love to see the result of your spinning from those batts. I'm sitting here using combs to open up the locks and will spin from that, I think.

Thanks for the peek into all the work that goes into making great yarn. I had to laugh while watching you turning the carder, it almost looked as if your hair was going into the carder also! And right after that thought you reached up and pulled your hair back I guess you thought so too LOL

Thanks for sharing this interesting process, Cia. I was feeling a bit down this morning with my cup of coffe and needles, trying to shake off the working week... but after this video of watching you craft the wool, my heart feels much much lighter. Really enjoy your podcasts!

    Great video !!!
And maybe some people can learn, that good products need a knowing hand to work with them to make them shine...
...not only copy and paste or brainstorming in an office - only good old handcrafting, knowledge and patience. 💚

That was lovely Cia, so interesting. Good to see you outside in the Spring sunshine. Your weather is so like ours here in Norfolk, UK. Gotland sheep are beautiful! Thank you so much.

I have been prepping wool too lately. I have one Gotland fleece I was looking for yesterday to wash and process. Hopefully I will find it today !

Thank you for sharing that. I have combed Gotland and was disappointed that it just wanted to felt without any encouragement! I will try drumcarding instead. I'd love to see you spinning it as I spindle spin some and felt that it was very 'chewy'.

What a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing this. I've not drumcarded Gotland but I have done other fibers. I also pick out the small bits. I felt them to make them into buttons which I can use for many things! Thanks again for sharing! Kat

I was very pleased to watch the process. I would love to try it myself, but I don't think the wool of our sheeps is good for making yarn, must read and learn more about that...:) thank you!

the sort is autoctone for isle of Brac called "Bracka pramenka". They are well known for cheese and meat.I would guess that their wool will be a very rustic one..

I’d love to process my Gotland wool as you do. My concern is about the lanolin in the wool clogging the plumbing as it goes down the drain. Has that been an issue for you?

  • @Ravencall

I am enjoying your video as I spin. Gotland is a wool that I very much want to spin but, like many spinners, I have quite a lot of wool prepared and waiting to be spun into yarn. At this moment I am spinning Chow wool for a friend who rescues elderly Chows. 🐕 Your drum carder seems to have very long teeth. Do you use that specifically with Gotland?

  • @paulapasveer2657

Hi Cia, thank you for sharing your knowledge about preparing gotland wool. I have one question: Which drum do you use, 72 or 120 ppi?

  • @cyndidaves5313
    @cyndidaves5313 Рік тому

Hi Cia ! How long does it take you to wash, and card the wool from start to finish. Does it take you days or does it take weeks to spin your wool into yarn.
