- looming thoughts explores ideas of intrusive thoughts and overthinking during the night but when the sun rises again, those thoughts disappear, which gives off the illusion that everything is ‘okay’, but when it is night again, the loneliness and the looming feeling reappears. Our aim is for the protagonist to convey that with a changed mindset, you can escape this cycle.
The music video takes elements from the genres of drama, psychological thrillers and will be shot in an experimental way. We will present this loop through day and night, using cool and warm tones to convey these differences.
When the protagonist is in bed at night, they start having dark thoughts, they feed into them and then we jump into the montage in which the protagonist is feeling gloomy and down, When the morning comes, the protagonist wakes up in the realistic setting, facing the window as the sun shines on her face, the sheets are white, everything is clean and organised. It’s like nothing was wrong to start with.
But it’s a cycle, and the night comes creeping back in, this is when the harsh metal part of the song is introduced, and the lighting becomes dramatic, flashing in all directions.

As soon as we were assigned music videos at university, I was excited at the prospect and thought why not take the opportunity to make my own song?
Bad idea right? In hindsight, my advice is don’t direct, star and edit your own project. It was chaotic, but wow, what an icredible experience.
