    Whether hitting the slopes to enjoy some of the world class skiing available or taking in one of the best folk art museums in Europe Innsbruck has a lot to offer. It is one of our favorite cities to visit in Central Europe. The Alpenzoo, Golden Roof, Historic buildings, friendly people and quaint old town make Innsbruck a must for any traveler passing through central Europe.

    Innsbruck was a big surprise in our trip last may. It was a fabulous place with a lot of charm. Very beautiful old town and is true that in the night it is magic.

    Just went to Innsbruck. Cant wait to go again! Marveled at almost every sight in the town and just imagining how awesome it’ll to be to visit during the Christmas season with all the Weinachtsmarkt’s around. Would definitely recommend to go to Hafelekarspitze, the top of Innsbruck with the cable cars and the funicle. Best part is since it is a compact town, you can explore a lot on foot and not get tired. Hofkirche, Congress Station to visit top of Innsbruck, Hofburg palace, Golden Roof are within 5 mins of each other by walking. Lovely ❤️

    great. I really like Innsbruck. nice calm city with some nice sites and good food. not as overrun by tourists as Salzburg, not as hussle and bussle as Vienna, but still super nice.

    In the Hofkirche is also the tomb of Andreas Hofer which was the leader of the Tyrolean Rebellion against Napoleon

    I enjoyed your presentation. I have been to Innsbruck twice, but did not know about the museums. I just found it a breathtakingly beautiful place to visit. It sits in an Alpine valley, along the River Inn, a real Alpine stream with a swift current. You go out into the street, and look one way, and there is a magnificent mountain. Turn around, and look the other way, and there's another mountain! I happened to be there one late spring, in time for the festival of Corpus Christi (second Thursday after Pentecost). Completely by chance, I witnessed a procession of locals in traditional costume processing to the Jakobikirche, where there was a beautiful High Mass. Innsbruck is a very Catholic town, and there are images of the Virgin and Child, or the saints, on almost every building.

    As an Austrian, Innsbruck is also one of my favourite places. The food at 6´18´´ is called "Kiachl". I like it most with Sauerkraut. Damn, I´m getting hungry thinking about it ;)

    The dish at 6:15 is a "Germknödel" (Yeast Dumplin) served with papaver and powder sugar in vanilla sauce.
    6:20 shows "Kiachl" in its sweet version.

    I think Innsbruck is a city for everyone! And i think it's not possible not to say it's a great city, when you are in the mountains and see the town with the mountains around.
    You tell it in the video, but when you are the next time in Innsbruck or on the country i would say to you - go up to the mountains with your family and enjoy the nature, the silence and normally a traditional cottage with food, wine and beer.

    • @woltersworld
      @woltersworld  8 років тому +2

      +Kriegsverweigerer we went up to the alpenzoo and it was so nice but you are right, next time we are going up up up into the mountains. we all loved Innsbruck.

    • @nordpark
      @nordpark 7 років тому +1

      you need to check out the "zirbenweg" next time when youre here in summer. a nice hike - but more like a walk, not too high changes in altitude. the hike is around 4 miles long and you got nice views in all directions. also, the nordkette is awesome - its on the same mountain as the alpenzoo, just way higher. and it somehow got an urban flair because you are so close to the city.
      if you wanna experience 'truer' Tirol, I'd suggest going for a hike in Stubaital, Wilder Kaiser (very beautiful and a littler smaller mountains), Zillertal, Sellraintal or to a place called "Eng" ("Vomp"). But mostly the regions are very well frequented by tourists as well - without a local it is harder to find more quiet trails...

    I can't believe that you mention Bergisel and not mention Rundgemälde. It is one of the more amazing paintings you will ever see; 360 degrees and more than 1000m2. It used to be located at Rennweg - Erzherzog-Eugen-Sraße, but has now moved up to the Bergiselmuseum, so you will be able to see the view from where the painting was done at the same time.
    So, I agree, go to Bergisel, but not for the skiing, but for the history and art.

      I always advised all Tourists to visit Hall (instead of Innsbruck if they didn't have much time) - the "Altstadt" there is way more beautiful and less touristic than in Innsbruck - in my opinion. If you have not been there - make sure to go on your next trip to Innsbruck (it's just a couple of minutes away by bus ;-) )
