    So, here my first impressions after one nicht in the Draumr 5.0. First of all: I can not imagine a more comfortable hammock! It's amazing that you can adjust it from completely flat to almost like an armchair. Very nice. Setup time with a bit more experience less than 10 minutes, I guess. Tarp seems to be sufficiently large to keep rain away (however I wonder if you still stay dry in a storm with strong winds).
    Here the negative points: taking food into the hammock, like a bag of freeze-dried stuff, not to talk about food on an open plate, is impossible because you need both hands to get in. Holding a plate with one hand and trying to get in will most likely end in a disaster and a hungry evening. I remember one evening in northern Finland were I NEEDED to eat inside my tent, otherwise I would have been eaten up alive by the bugs. Hardly possible in this hammock - big minus. I can even cook food in the vestibule of my tent, if I keep the mosquito entrance mostly closed and just stick out my arm. Some bugs might find their way in, but better than sitting out in the free.
    Second: how are you supposed to get into and out of your sleeping bag, without ending as a crumbled bundle at the foot end (or worse the head end)? And if you move while sleeping a bit too far up or down the hammock tipps over and you end up... well as a bundle at the foot or head end, with arms inside the sleeping bag. There is too little friction between the bottom and the sleeping bag. Then you need to get the arms out to pull yourself up again.
    Third: not easy to get the air out of the mat if you can't put it on the floor to roll it. That's easy in a tent, but you don't want to put it on dirty, wet ground. No problem in a tent however. Any tips?
    So to be very honest with you: great hammock for spending a night in the forest, were it is not possible to set up a tent, but a tent has several practical advantages that the hammock cannot offer.
    I will keep the Draumr, but it does not convince me 100% over my tents.

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  2 роки тому +1

      Thats a great sum up Kai Uwe! With practical You will get in and out easily, as well in the sleepingbag. I had same thought as Yiu an that part before I got "king" of it. I agree that it is not easy to eat something in it. The mug should be a one that could be closed or drink from bottle. I eat dry stuff like sandwiches, sausage etc. A dry freezer meal should be good. But I see your point. You can't cook in it. I have managed so far. If you prepare yiu way of making coffee at the evening Yiu can have that stove ready under close to your head side and turn over on the belly and light it up in the morning from the hammock. Best way to get rid of mosquitos is to make a fire. Then You can sit outside. Thats what i'm doing right now when i'm writing.

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  2 роки тому +1

      Iforgot to mention how I roll up the matress, fastnar way is to open the valve while the matress still is in the hammock sleeve. Ten grabb it in yhe foot end and roll it tightly, no need to exaggerate though, roll and pull out the matress at the same time. Now You have a too long roll in your hand but fold it eaven as a Z, then it fits into the bag easy. Try this, definitely the fastest, cleanest and dryest way. Grattis i efterskott K-U!

      Thanks for Your kind words Massadus! The 5.0 has the small improvements that makes perfect. A great combo is the Draumr 5.0 with Skjold 10 UL Multitarp and sleeping pad Fjøl UL. I was impressed by the Draumr UL as well, but I would only choose the Draumr UL if weight and pack volume is crucial, which it is many times. But it can't beat the 5.0 In feelgood.

    Here in California we have too many of us.
    Some individuals leave trash and other things in these types of environments.
    We have close to 40 million people in California alone.

    I think you set the standard for the video logs:) my heart rate was 79 while watching this video, very peacefull, thank you.
    Some questions:
    1. Would you consider taking the hammok for moto travels longer than 3 days?
    2. How do we protect the helmet, boots, protective gear, pants, jacket if we choose to go with the hammok?
    3. In the summer, we might have rain with heavy winds, how is the hammok handling that? Specially the tarp because I am afraid the wing might rip it off the ground, behave like a parachute.
    4. When you sleep, and you have only that bug net on top of you, maybe the body heat goes out fast. Is this the case? Because you know in the tent some, if not all if the heat stays inside
    Thank you Matias and I am waiting for you here in the Charpathians. If you're not comming to me, I will come to Sweden :)

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  3 роки тому +2

      1. Yes, I definitely would, but pends on what terrain that is expected.
      2. I store my stuff in the dry bags I have emptied, where the sleeping system is packed. In the hammocks sides. Helmet under or att bike.
      3. I have slept in sideways rain winds and storm. I would cut some extra sticks and reinforce the peg positions with. You will be dry.
      4. In summer and no rain in forecast, I sleep with only the burnet. very cozy. Body heat is kept in sleeping bag. Wintertime a tent will be full os condense if not left opened at all openings. This is not the case with the hammock. My Hilleberg tents will be a better choice when in storm and heavy rain or when no trees :) But the hammock handles everything great except when you can't hang it. Thanks Dragos! You are welcome. I'm sure the hammock is perfect for the Charpatian mountains. Easy to hang when ground is uneven.

      I can understand that, but they have thought about that to, that’s the reason of the beer holders. You are not supposed to leave the hammock unless you have to do the number one or two, isn’t the 6.0 they solve the number one problem 😂. For the number two I think Adria has a solution, they have a lot of solutions that can be hard to implement in a hammock. 😂

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  Рік тому

      The Amokequipment tarp Skjold 10 is designen to fit this hammock. You can adjust the guylines tighter to the hammock or wider, what fit you best at the moment. I have been in storm weather with swaying trees, not bothered at all sleeping in the hammock. The sleeping bag protect you as well. At wintertime, I have not had tough winds yet but felt very comfortable with a proper sleepingbag and preferable the WinterLight Amok sleeping bag. Amokequipment always develop their products and release new products as well, something enclosing may be in the pipe 😁👍

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  6 місяців тому +1

      It is! Both the set up and beer pocket 😂🍺. To be transparent, I am an ambassador for Amokequipment. Before I started to use the Amok Draumr Hammock system, which was before this vid with the release ofcthe Ultra Light version, I have used conventional gathered end hammocks for 10 years. As well tents ofc and have a couple of Hillebergs. The Amok Draumr system become a gamechanger to me. It is a very comfortable system and I use it on all trips in our boreal forest landscape. I have used the UL version most since this release but have have the standard version in limited edition color that I use now and then as well. I had the opportunity to try the prototype UL version almost 1 year before release to give input before Amokequipment finalized the production version. Honestly, I really like the system because of the sleeping comfort compared to both tent and "normal hammock". It requires more training to get into, especially after some beers and whisky with friends. Thats the only drawback 👀😂🍺. I have a video from last year where I compare the two versions more back to back. Happy Trails! 💪🤠🔥

It will be my company on all adventures where hammocking is better than a tent and I don't plan any mountain trail hikes this year with overnighters. Day hikes maybe. I agree! I have both options but like this better. This axe is the Gränsforsbruk Otdoor Axe. Designed by Lars Fält to be a multitool. I have it with me pretty much always as a multitasker. Forme more to the tomahawk side, butvthe profile of the head is great for splitting. Still light and feels like a combat axe. Perfect for outdoor tasks but hide the combat aspect. Razor sharp. Can't say enough good on it. R

      Hey, Yes I lay on the side mostly, but also on my chest down and back down. You can sleep as at home. Yes, compressed, the UL is 2/3 of the 5.0. If you don't compress the UL it is more "squeezable" and easier to pack as well. I have comparable photo's at my instagram braapncamp 👌. I plan to do a video as well later on.

    Var ni vid Härsvatten? Var mycket där i min ungdom (klart är ju fortfarande ung), ja runt hela svartedalen när jag bodde i Kungälv. Bor numera i Dalsland.

      Tack Jan! Ja det var vid Härsevatten. Fint där och i Svartedalen. I detta system har jag bara sovit i lättare vindar. Inget man känner alls med tarpen väl peggad. I en konventionell hammock har jag sovit i total storm och även i den sov jag skönt och tort. Sen är det ju så att är det starka vindar kan man ju hänga hammocken längre in i skogen istället för vid sjökanten, då har ju vinden brutits rejält. Dalsland är fint!

    Tjena Mattias - fantastiskt trevlig video som vanligt! Lite nyfiken på Draumr - om man står i valet mellan den vanliga och UL - vad skulle du säga är kompromisserna man får ta om man väljer UL? Och - hur funkar pinnarna man väljer till vid köpet, dvs vad gör de för nytta?

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  3 роки тому

      Hej Daniel, kul att se dig här! Jag kommer att använda UL mestadels detta året på mina äventyr för att få svar på det. Jag provade en prototyp förra midsommaren och var redan då imponerad av vad man kan göra med material. Jag är säker på att jag inte kommer att uppleva någon kompromiss i mitt användande. Skillnaden är ju mer i hur robust en 5.0 känns, det är mer substans. Om användandet är mer "heavy duty" i både tid och miljö så kommer 5.0 klara det bättre. Den känns mer ombonad med det tjockare materialet, å andra sidan var det rätt mysigt med det lättare material man ser igenom på UL. UL har starkt material så den är inte vek men i jämförelse kan den upplevas som det. På grund av den mindre packvolymen (och lägre vikt) kommer jag att uppskatta UL. En kombination som också är vettig är att välja 5.0 i kombination med Fjøl UL och Skjold 10 UL, framför allt Fjøl UL har mycket mindre packvolym än de andra Fjøl. Jag har ju båda hemma, hade vi haft korsade vägar kunde jag demonstrera dem.

      @@Braapncamp Topp, tackar! Mycket möjligt att våra vägar korsas framöver och då kan jag ju fråga mer. Men det är inga större skillnader i funktion i övrigt med montering eller fickor etc.? Och de är helt kompatibla, dvs man kan välja alla tarpar till båda och man kan t ex välja ett rejälare liggunderlag pga värmen även om man skulle välja UL etc.? Svara bara om du vet på rak arm, annars kan jag luska - men jag vet ju att du är klok. :) Och förresten - de pinnarna man aktivt väljer till - vad gör de?

      Ul och 5.0 är helt kompatibla med kringutrustningen så länge håller isär XL eller standard storleken på Draumr. En XL madras passar inte i standard Draumr och en standard madrass kan inte hålla upp strukturen på en XL. Annars är allt helt kompatibelt. Funktionerna är identiska, upphängning, fickor etc. Jag har XL Draumr's pga att jag vill ha mer utrymme. I hammocken. Jag har också en standard Draumr 4.0 om storleken behöver jämföras i en demo.

      Thanks for the question! Materialwise I'm impressed or happy with the Nordwand Pro and functions as well, the sizing is more difficult or different though compared to Lundhags Authentic that I also use. The Lundhag's is the benchmark for me when it gets to pants regarding comfort, that holds up and keep the fit great. I bought a pair of Nordwand Pro to my daughter as well. A Norwegian friend (Thomas Hansen) bought a jacket from Revolution Race and seems super happy with what he got and bought more from them direct after the delivery of the Jacket. He might do a review if we are lucky on what he's experience is in the "infamous" Bergen's weather 😂. I'm really happy so far.
