Mine is labeled "grimoire" but it's more of a hodgepodge collection of thoughts, spells, recipes, and workings. I keep it all on onenote (an electric notebook) so I can copy paste right I to it, move things around and most importantly be able to read it later. My penmanship and spelling are atrocious.
I have a ”Magickal Journal” more in line with ceremonial magick ( Golden Dawn, Thelema ). I see it as differing between the two types mentioned as a lot of the rituals mentioned in it are already known, so in that case less of a textbook/ recipe and more of a journal. More a way of noting and keeping track. On the over hand, any new rituals or exercises ( my own though based on Hermetic/ Kabbalistic knowledge for example ) are duly noted in detail ( while a ritual like the LBRP would just be mentioned with date, time and other relevant conditions ). I guess it is a mix of a diary, grimoire and lab report. 😉 I also include personal daily life as may seem relevant as well as dreams to see if there might be any correlations/results.
Agreed. In the keeping of one as a whole, the Grimoire would be the teachings in the front, when you flip the book to the reverse and backside you would find the book of shadows which would contain your personal writings and practices.
i guess mine would be a book of shadows, seeing as its my personal info on my spiritual practice but its not necessarily spells or rituals just information

Hello, I’m French and I’d just like to make a small, tiny, correction in an overall great video. The word grimoire originated from the word gramaire not grammaire (the second one mean grammar the first in means book of magic) it was originally translated to grymoire in 1165 - the 14 (cycle, era?? I’m sorry, English is very difficult 😥) but overtime became the word grimoire. In the Middle Ages “gramaire” became grimoire due to the belief that those who practiced magick and were witches were worshipers of the devil. The word grim comes from the word “grimer” or griffer. This can mean a couple of things like the devils claws and such. This word has sadly been forgotten through time. So basically the word grimoire is a mashup of the words gramaire and grimer 💛 Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. You speak very clearly so I find you very easy to follow along with compared to other English UA-camrs, keep up the good work
