    Mr wranglerstar I would like to thank you for all the time you spend making and editing these videos. I'm a 16 year old kid that has learned a great deal of knowledge from your channel. Even though I have never met you in person you have impacted my life in so many ways. I've been wanting to leave you a comment for a while now but didn't know if you would have the time to comment back. If not I understand as you have your own life and many things to do but I really appreciate all you have done for me. Thank you

    These portable saw mills are built in the state where I was born , Indiana. Every year at our State Fair, they set several models of them up on the fairgrounds and demo them for the two weeks of the fair. It's always one of my favorite things to see, AND TO SMELL. They really are very high quality, and the company has always GIVEN BACK, to the local community, and have even helped build things as far away as Africa and the South Pacific. They donate to our local Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Zoo also. Great people, who make a great machine, in the good old U.S.A. God Bless America.

    I just love the endless projects that can be done with this American machine. America makes excellent machines that can even go to the Moon! I think it is because we can count past 10.

    Funny how NASA has used metric since 1990. Even during the Apollo missions NASA used a mixture of SAE and metric.

    i had an uncle that had a LT35. He sawed mostly oak and sold it to a local flooring plant. He made good money with it, He was able to recoup the cost of the mill in less than one year. I loved running the mill with. I learned what hard work was that first summer he bought it.

    You be surprise how much the metric system is used in the USA especially at NASA, and military actually it is quite easier to figure out smaller measurements then using the fraction

    • @mdbigman
      @mdbigman 9 років тому +3

      2012spacetraveler We are not surprised. We all know where in the US industry it is used and why. We do not need Euro Elitists to dictate to us on what unit of measure we should adopt. we use both! We use whichever system we deem best for a given task. Most Americans prefer to use Imperial but that does not mean we don't understand metric. It is amazing that it creates such a "panty twist" for Europeans. LOL that is why we emphasize our love for Imperial!

    • @eltorrisimo
      @eltorrisimo 9 років тому +4

      2012spacetraveler True. Everything in aerospace is metric. Actually everything in any serious engineering discipline is metric. We do all have to remain competent in Imperial stuff as well, since many parts, nuts, bolts, and so on are still available or even more common in Imperial measures. I know Cody is partly just trolling, but his comment is a common one---for example, in Michigan I hear people constantly say the "this is the USA, we use 'American' bolts." But every car, even those from Detroit, heavily use metric everything, and in some cases are entirely metric. It's a silly argument. It's in the same category as "I'm an American, I only speak English." Like that's impressive? We should be impressed that you don't use a high-quality engineering standard like ISO nuts/bolts? It's quite the opposite.

    • @kinkywombat2388
      @kinkywombat2388 9 років тому +1

      +mdbigman It's not only Europeans, the US is now the only country in the world still using Imperial (except for road signs in the UK). I find it funny that Americans are so protective of the Imperial system - I thought you got rid of the British a few years back? :0)

    • @mdbigman
      @mdbigman 9 років тому

      Paul Roebuck We are not necessarily protective of "imperial" over Metric, we are opposed to being dictated by Europe on how we should live our lives. We use metric and we use Imperial units. We also appreciate the beauty of language that would be sterilized by Metric equivalents. We choose not to loose that in our culture but again, why is Europe so obsessed with our preference?

    • @kinkywombat2388
      @kinkywombat2388 9 років тому +1

      With respect, I think you may be overestimating how much the rest of the world cares how you measure things. And it is the rest of the world, not just Europe. Even Burma and Liberia are moving to the metric system. Oddly enough, all countries had a way of measuring stuff before metric came along, and they had names for the units they measured stuff in. The USA had a way of counting money before it went decimal. People got over it. But hey, it's your country and your rules. And while you keep using imperial the UK can still boast that it's empire shaped the modern world :o)

    Woodmizer makes a great mill. I strive to be able to afford one. I purchased a new Woodland Mills bandsaw mill four years ago for $4000 (Canadian) taxes and shipping included. It has paid for itself several times over. Everything except the blade motor is manually operated but it is a fraction of the price. Quality is decent. Lots of fun getting work done! Have a look at Norwood as well if you are in the market.

    I would be happy with an lt10 or an lt15 and would specialize in thin wood ,1/2 inch ( .0127) or smaller,cutting fallen wood that no one else would bother with. Wood mizer should think about lending you one for a couple months (even a used one) The videos you make would be great for advertising and just might persuade me to buy one after seesawing on the idea for 20 years or so.The nice thing about the basic starter is that youwould easily find a place to storeit,out of the way when your notuseing it and you could use your pre-existing trailer. The ability to take it into the woods ,without tearing up the woods is a valuable trait.

    Hi,when i see this makes me sick
    why?
    I'm from Romania,right now Germany, Austria,and Hungary are stealing wood from us,tousands of cubic meters/day the worst thing is that they steal from virgin forests(one of the few in Europe,if not the last),and national parks,imagine that hey pay politicians alot of money so they don't do anything.
    as well with the tire company Continental(who is doing alot of damage in a big city called Timisoara)when the people got there to protest,the cops came outnumbered protesters like double (this was in 2013),the company officials said "we think we might do something by the end of 2015 about the pollution"

    Are these easily serviceable?

      +Havilah Gold Yes. And so long as you don't abuse them they really don't need a whole lot of servicing, just some normal maintenance issues like keeping them lubed and not leaving them exposed to the weather all the time. I've got a 1995 LT40 Hydraulic that I bought 3 years ago. Had to replace a fuse,he feed gear sprocket and some parts on the engine. But with over 4,000 hours on it I'd say that's no big deal. Still cuts perfect lumber so long as it is fed good logs.

    I do agree with tradition, but just thought I would leave this funny quote here.
    “In metric, one milliliter of water occupies one cubic centimeter, weighs one gram, and requires one calorie1 of energy to heat up by one degree centigrade - which is 1 percent of the difference between its freezing point and its boiling point. An amount of hydrogen weighing the same amount has exactly one mole of atoms in it. Whereas in the American system, the answer to ‘How much energy does it take to boil a room-temperature gallon of water?’ is ‘Go fuck yourself,’ because you can’t directly relate any of those quantities.” Wild Thing by Josh Bazell.
    Tradition in some cases can be overcome? Thoughts?

      +FPSAmerica A Harley runs $12-15 thousand and up, and doesn't put a dime back in you pocket. And, the WoodMizer will still be earning you money 20 years from now. Guns or butter, take your pick.
