Ugh, the stereotypes. - Фільми й анімація
You don't have to be asexual to know there is a difference between love and horniness.
+Nathan Higgins What would you do if the guys & girls separated?
Commit seppuku.
Sadly most people can't tell the difference these days
+SWANKYORC Mysterious said it at 9:20
People who identify as special snowflake sexualities tend to try and draw attention about it by shoehorning it in conversations like that. I say that having once been one, myself...I do see the irony in what I just said.
Asexuality is having no interest in sex or sexual pleasure beyond reproduction. It's a real thing and it's not made up. If you think it is, your a fucking idiot.
As Garnet said "There's no such thing as love at first sight. Love is hard work and love takes time. You have to at least know the other person."
DW As I say: "There is no such thing as love at first sight. What this actually means is "Boner at first sight""
I'm only replying because she mentioned garnet.
DW Garnet is the greatest example of love for kids. I'm so incredibly happy she's in SU. I tried to explain love to my little cousin and used her as an example. :D
darkflame728 But she isn´t waifu material, so fuck it :v
Lonesome Gavlan What the heck is waifu? I keep hearing it but I don't know what it is. XD
"Like that episode where Timmy wishes nobody needed sleep, but it backfires because everybody needs sleep."
FINALLY, someone else who sees that flaw!
That always bugged me as a kid.
"Why do they need sleep? I thought he wished that they didn't!"
-My reaction.
That always bugged me too, because he said "I wish everybody didn't have to sleep", then they should have been able to stay awake without any of the negative side effects. What should have happened was that Timmy just said "I wish everybody didn't have to sleep", then it would have made sense. Add in the "have to" and the entire premise of the sleep effects happening becomes a big plot hole.
JoyStar exactly
+Carl Bloke I meant to put "I wish everybody didn't sleep", my bad. XD
Anyone else think the Simpsons had the whole idiot husband and wife couple had a romantic story do better than most shows?
***** The episode that they did homer meeting marge. I think Homer Lied about wanting to learn french.
But I mean in general. Peter from family guy is an idiot who can care less about his family (Meg), and honestly have little reason for him and Lois to be together
American Dad actually did good by this concept by having them both have their strengths and weaknesses. Stan was the idiot husband trope to a tee, but there were some respects where he was smarter or more responsible than Francine, and vice versa. The two really complemented one another well.
Zxzero36 Amazing World of Gumball actually also did a great romantic couple story with the idiot husband and wife couple
Yea at least homer actually CARES about his family
Zxzero36 Gumball did it better in my opinion
Moral of the episode: Cupid thinks that a yandere is the best pick for everyone

+Syakekosan tootie and in one episode trixie

That makes perfect sense to me.
Well to be fair, the original Cupid from Roman mythology was more about sexual attraction than true love, as was his Greek counterpart, Eros. He was only involved in deeper love when he was working with his wife/counterpart, Psyche. Using Cupid in association with romantic or true love is a more modern concept.
On the other hand, I wouldn't give Fairly OddParents the credit to think that they were actually referencing classical mythology.
It also doesn't help the fact that in Fairly Oddparents, he takes his job way to seriously.
Ya they did it wrong
Even when I was little I knew that Cupid was from Roman mythology

I can understand playing a sport even though I am not an athlete, since sports seem like the type of thing that can be fun to play. But watching sports is the boring part. It is basically watching two teams playing something that you could be doing and you're just watching it. It's like would you rather watch someone play a video game or play the video-game?

The last thing I ever want to do on this planet is getting involved in a sports fandom.

Oh good. Let's hope THIS replaces the overused Twilight meme. And yes, I'm serious- I'm tired of the Twilight one.

@@billykaplan9915 He didn't need to give them to her in public. Timmy has been alone with Trixy several times in the show, she's been nice to him most of those times before he was a creep. He could have very easily given them to her in a private setting. Even at her birthday party he could have waited till people left, pulled her aside, or even just left them up in her room in a gift bag. She had a giant mountain, she didn't open all of them while people were there. He could have just left it with a note or a card inside. She would have known it was from him and she would have loved the gift. Besides she was already hiding comics. Even if she rejected them and him, she still would have appreciated the gift and hid them with the others.

I'd say that the best cartoon that breaks stereotypes is Bob's Burgers.
Bob isn't an idiot dad; he's arguably the most level minded character in his family, apart from becoming overly competitive at times.
Linda isn't the perfect wife that is obviously too good for her husband; she's very quirky and doesn't act as serious in situations when needed.
The kids are all totally unique; they don't make their differences black-and-white like Bart and Lisa Simpson. Gene is goofy, Louise is an overbearing insane genius, and Tina is an award boy-crazy girl. They are all very well rounded when they act together.
It's nice to see a cartoon where personality traits aren't determined by gender.
And people wonder why that show lasted this long.
Boy do I love that show, what a legend.:)
@@Reapermaskhybrid because it broke stereotypes
@@dwainsimmons3447 I was being rhetorical. Still, Bob's Burgers makes the Belchers feel more like actual people than the Simpsons do nowadays, they're not pleasant zombies like in shows you'd see in the 1950s but they aren't staring daggers at each other 24/7 like they do in shows in more modern times either, it's like a perfect middle-ground.
I'm a guy who isn't interested in sports, and makes a token attempt at hygene

The world of Shipping in a nutshell.
Sure, I do some shipping myself, but I keep it in moderation, and between characters where it actually makes sense.
+RazorRaven619
I seriously hate shipping. It annoys me to the core. I also hate stereotypes unless they're used satirically. like in the movie Trading Places.
I stand by the idea that ANYTHING can be funny if you make it funny. This episode didn't, it stating things like "men must sports" likes its a fact, and any jokes they did make fell flat.
+Lucky Ducky The worst kind of ships is the ones with REAL people.... Also 95% of shipping is "Hey Joe guess what, These two people _______ and both have ______ in common, THEY SHOULD BE TOGETHER!" Yup, kinda creepy. Also I really get annoyed by the whole stereotype game, when its stated like fact.
i hate shipping unless it's cann/official. once, during this jumprope activity thing, my entire gym class shipped me with my friend just because we were HOLDING HANDS. i was SOOOOOO mad at them.
I hate shipping too sometimes. Besides that I ship some cartoon couples myself, I'm personally annoyed what kind of shit people ship. Best example: Jelsa.
They basically take a 21-year old QUEEN of Europe and ship her with a dead 14-year old peasant in America. And they completely ignore the fact that they are made by two completely different studios, and guess what, the studios hate each other, so a crossover won't happen.
But they ship them because: They both have ice powers. Wow! Other than that, they have barely anything in common. The internet just wants them together because they have ice powers.
Additionally, Frozen was once the most successful animated movie of all time (until it got replaced by Zootopia, which to be honest deserves this a bit more), while Rise of the Guardians was one of Dreamworks's biggest flops and almost got them bankrupt. So it's almost (no, not almost, it is) comical that these two characters are the victims of underaged girl's shipping.
RazorRaven619 like for example I would ship Italy and German because it's actually cannon within the series.
The Boy who'd be Queen was not only a better episode because it tackled this concept better, but it also made Trixie into actual character instead of being the usual stuck up rich girl stereotype.
"I really love those stereotype-centered cartoons for my children! It shows them exactly how the world works, it leaves them no place for individuality and makes sure they must be how everyone else is and if they are not they are forced to hide it to be accepted by strangers and society!" Said no parent ever (I hope because if one actually thinks so I feel sorry for the child/children)
That child would grow older, & disown the parents.
@@ExtremeWreck Or not give a shit, and grow up to distinguish reality from fiction. Which is the more plausible option.
@@DiegoAmateur Or both.
I actually have a friend who's a girl who is a tomboy and claims that she was never a true definition on what this episode says what a girl is. The Boy Who Becomes Queen is one of my favorite FOP episodes, mainly due to its excellent moral. This however, feels like its purpose is to outright ignore that episode and generalize males and females. Gotta love generalizations and stereotypes... -_-

In an old episode it actually showed that Trixie was actually a tomboy at heart, something Timmy should know. So the show ignores its own continuity.
I mean he can't offer her a bunch of comics and expect to work since Trixie gotta keep her appearance "although if the plot was about Trixxie dealing with her perfect maski would have love it " so Timmy should have wish for the most precious gem or something for her
Actually, it really is hysterical thinking about Tara Strong saying some of these lines. I imagine she hurled in the bathroom afterwards.
This made me remember many reasons why I hate society nowadays, especially teenage society. So many teenagers define their relationships by how much sex they have, or how good looking they are. Seriously, a relationship is not defined by sex, in fact, sex can break relationships before they're already started or destroy ones that have been going for a long time. I'd rather just have someone to talk to, someone to play video games with, you don't need to have big breasts or a nice ass to do that.
And no, I am not asexual, no offense to anyone who is, but my stance on sex is purely my choice, not an orientation I was born with.
I agree with you but not all teens are like that, well atleast I'm not for starters :P
***** Sorry if it sounded like that's what I was saying. I really didn't intend it that way.
I don't think this is just an issue with society today, sex has always been around and people (especially hormonal teens) have always been obsessing over it. I agree about sex and romantic relationships not inherently being linked, but then again i am asexual ;p
CelestialScribbler Yes, sex has been around since the first sexually reproducing organism, and has been a big deal for thousands of years. But we live in a time now where sex is not as necessary anymore. There's over 7 billion people on Earth, and people are living to be over 80. It's not that I think its something new, I just don't see the point of losing your virginity at 16 in this day and age.
Fornicate is a sin don't you know

"Love is the point at which you care for another person's well-being more so than your own."
It's nice to be autistic sometimes. You can accurately and logically define things people think are too abstract to define.
The Vicious Drifloon
And yet poets and philosophers and even some sci-fi writers still don't seem to get it.
In the original mythos Eros (Cupid) was the god of desire, erotic love, attraction, and affection; so his definition of love isn't out of character.
Cupid was also immoral as he would often shoot one person with a golden arrow to make them fall in love with another person, then shoot the other person with a lead arrow so they wouldn't love the original person. So if Cupid shot Tootie with a golden arrow to make her fall in love Timmy, and Timmy with a lead arrow so he hated Tootie this would be completely in character for him.
In conclusion ancient Greek/Roman morals were very different to current ones.
Yeah, the Greek gods and goddesses were kind of dicks. Makes me wonder why Hades (who was by far one of the least dickish gods, especially compared to some of his siblings) is always portrayed as an antagonist in media about Greek mythology....
ElectricMayhem87 Probably because in early Bible translations they translated the Jewish world for Hell as Hades. This is ironic given that the underworld was where everyone went when they died.
+ElectricMayhem87 Seemingly the worst thing that Hades ever did was kidnap Persophone, and even then, he did it because he was genuinely in love with her. Albeit he acted selfishly on that love, but ironically, Hades probably portrays love (and not lust) better than any other god in the Greek mythos.
+uanime1 Actually, his Mother, Aphrodite was the one who was purely about physical love. Eros could do both physical and spiritual.
+YamatoFukkatsu Fun fact: Kidnapping Persephone was Zeus's idea....and Zeus was Persephone's father.
It takes far more than wanting to bone to have a relationship.
Example: I'm asexual as well, and I still have a happy, stable relationship.
Sometimes I wish more people would be Asexual because of how shallow relationships based purely on sex appeal can be. (And I'm not even Ace)
@@R0-83-RT No.
@@R0-83-RT I know this comment's 10 month's old, but I'ma say it anyway
I don't think you have to be asexual to know that relationships based on sex appeal alone won't last
@@ciberkid22 True, though there's a lot of idiots who try it regardless.
You know when the Greeks did Cupid or as they called him Eros they portrayed him as a being both great and terrible, also the arrows are arguably nothing more then symbolism as the tale of Eros and psyche shows them clearly being attracted before getting an arrow into them, I wonder if modern Valentine’s Day specials suffer because they draw inspiration from a society that mostly saw love at first sight as a mental illness.
Timmy seriously needs more love interests (available). On one hand he has a rich, popular girl he likes but can't have. And on the other he has an obsessive stalker who he wants nothing to do with.
You know, it'd be interesting if these two girls actually interacted. Or maybe an episode where Timmy falls for another girl and in result to this, Trixie drops in popularity and... you can probably guess the rest.
I wonder if I'd be a better writer than most of these "writers" who make these episodes. I write fan-ficiton, but based on what I see in these episodes, I'm sure I can write better stories.
I never get why people complain so much about Tootie being a stalker, yet Helga from Hey Arnold is almost universally praised (yeah...and I don't think Tootie has ever made a statue of Timmy out of *his* chewed bubble gum....yeah). That just gets me.
And really, I don't see why a 10-year-old kid needs a love interest anyway. Crushes are one thing, but love interests?
Helga is universally praised? That doesn't seem right at all... Maybe people see her as a tsundere. And you know how bias people are with tsunderes...
A statue made of what?! Dear God... I've abandoned this show long ago and didn't know that. Timmy seriously needs to make a restraining order.
Meh, I won't argue that last part because you make a valid point...
ElectricMayhem87 Mainly because Helga has more to her character than just the fact that she's in love with Arnold. They also acknowledge that her obsession is an actual obsession, isn't necessarily healthy, and is a result of pretty much everyone else in her life not caring about her and not paying attention to her.
Paul Dunbar Uh, yeah. Helga has a huge fanbase (who get pretty defensive at times). And the gum thing isn't something Tootie did (I was referencing something Helga made as part of her stalker shrine of Arnold (it was seen in a first season episode; I think the one where Arnold loses his hat), which I think is a million times creepier than anything Tootie has done). And people defend Helga because "OMG, Freudian excuse, neglectful family!" and don't acknowledge that Tootie has a similar situation (nasty bullying older sister and parents who don't do shit on her behalf because *they're* scared of Vicky, too). I don't know, I think I'd be looking for someone to cling to as well...

Pretty sure what we saw in this episode was lust not love. If they were going to do an episode on the importance of love it shouldn't just be a romantic type of love.

I can clarify that I'm a male, and that I don't like sports. I'm kind of a slob though, but that's only because I don't really care that much, not to mention that even though I'm a slob, I atleast try to keep the area I live in clean.
I'm a guy and I don't like sports either, except basketball and baseball. I prefer the arts and music
David Timmer basketball is such a manly sport . I like soccer
David Timmer same
Same here, i've always been more into music. Almost everyone of my friends watches and talks about football (soccer not american). Do i care? Hell no, just because it's something most people like doesn't mean i have to too. Hell, even my girlfriend likes sports and videogames more than i do, and that's fine because it's normal that other PERSON likes things you don't.
"Viacom is owned by Viacom and I don't even care"
Viacom: *So you don't wan't your money then huh?*
Viacom should not be allowed to own anything, given how it's treated UA-camrs...
Huh, I'm actually liking your take on gender portrayal in cartoons. It's not one sided or even goading for "political correctness", it's very egalitarian and showing flaws in both sides of the writing spectrum.
Also, I believe this episode was intending to make love antagonistic, rather than have a clear message. That's how I interpret it at least. I'm definitely getting an evil dictator vibe from Cupid
If I could like your comment twice, I would.
1 like for the sensible comment, and 1 like for that Sad Cat avatar.

Love vs. lust - I've had that argument so many times, and I totally agree with you.
Like they don't understand "love at first sight" doesn't exist and lots of cartoons use that poor excuse to make two characters love each other ok the most shallow way
Knowing what we do now about Butch Hartman makes some of these implications really uncomfortable.
Also, there are a billion episodes with the rule of "You can't break up true love" making it so Timmy can't just wish away the problem because they're in love with someone. There is no way his "world without girls" wish should've worked because it would be breaking up countless relationships, hopefully at least one of which involving true love
Is that you're icon because Pip dressed up like a pirate on Nightmare Night, and Luffy claims to be a pirate even though I'm pretty sure he's never shown pillaging anything?
Cody Hines They "stole" gold from Skypiea one time, well, at least they intended for it to be stealing. But to answer your question yes
It seems Da Rulez is pretty lenient. You can't wish for anything that would cause harm to specific people, but something that would cause worldwide pandemonium is just fine.
SuperMarkerComicBro
except when timmy wished it were christmas everyday. they added a rule against that to the book.
"Timmy tries to beat the shipper in the sky-"
So, Da rules lets you make wishes that separate genders entirely but forbids wishing for am omlette after a specific time? Cartoon logic everybody!
This isn't even the worst Cupid act, he once hosted a scavenge hunt with a rule free wish as a reward. Turns out he lied and had everyone do his grocery shopping for him. Luckily he got punished for it in the end.
One of the reasons I don't like Fairy Odd Parents is because its kind of humor...
The:
"Yay! I have something good, only *Something* could ruin it!"
"OH NO!!! The thing I just said happened! At least I still have this thing..."
"OH NO!!!! The thing I had also was lost forever!!!"
Also random references/parodies... Something about how they use them angers me...
The humor on that show is really lame. It also has this type of humor. Remember in that episode where Timmy got a dog? Where Timmy's dad was stupid enough to dive in a barrel of push pins? That is an example of "HA HA! He did that stupid thing out of no where cause he is stupid". That could of been funny, except there was nothing to build up to it except he was scared of his wife thinking she is a monster, but that still isn't enough build-up. A stupid character just doing a stupid thing out of no where is not funny.
to quote Garnet, "Love takes work."
Cupid was introduced in the season one episode, "Apartnership," when Cosmo and Wanda miscommunicated on the theme of their anniversary, Cosmo went home to Mama Cosma, and they ended up on Cupid's dating show. He also appeared in the episode where Timmy wished every day was Christmas, along with the other holiday mascots.
This episode ofended me when i was a kid!
"All women are nags and all men are idiots" isn't just a phenomenon that came up in the newer episodes though. It's what literally every character in the show has always been based on since day one.
That's exactly what I was thinking.
God damn, I know! Every time people talk about Wanda they say she "nags" too much. That's literally the only word they use to describe her.
And the reason I think TFOP was awful from day One. That and the fact that everybody but Timmy (but ESPECIALLY his parents and Vicki) deserve to be put in an inescapable Saw trap but never are.
And the fact that Timmy's Parents, as well as Dexter's parents are just "Mom" and "Dad" 😩
SCREW THE SPORTS STEREOTYPE IN THIS EPISODE! Seriously, that thing got me picked on _relentlessly_ when I was a kid. I hated sports, and seeing people like that didn't exactly help. This episode may have actually made me hate them more because of how people feel sports are the best thing ever. Screw 'em all.
-Plus it doesn't help that people in my secondary school got in a fight over ultimate frisbee-
I don't hate sports, but have no interest in them. Aside from maybe MMA.
Yay someone who agree with me (i really cant stand football and fifa seasons)
The only sport that gets me pumped is medieval jousting. Like the kind you see at Renn Faires or the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament.
Other than that; football, basketball, baseball even golf is worthless to me
Sports, Cars, and Women. Three things that this guy has little to no interest in. Marching Band and Chess are my favorite sports, I don't care what car I drive, and my girlfriend is the only woman I truly care about.
In the eyes of the world, I'm no guy. But that doesn't mean I'm not.
maribakumon
I'm one of the few remaining sensitive, chivalrous and loving men in this world
"According to the episode "The Boy Who Would Be Queen" of Season 2, Trixie secretly likes boys' comics, which was found out when Timmy turned into a girl by Wanda and became friends with Trixie (only as Timantha, he/she was friends with her). She enjoys her time with Timantha because "she" is a girl who is willing to do both girl and boy stuff"
So that also makes it pointless too
I think the one think that has bothered me the most about this, ever since I was a kid, was that while Timmy's mom missed her husband, she didn't miss Timmy, her own son (and yeah, while both Timmy's parents are very neglectful, they still love him!). Timmy didn't miss his mom much or Wanda (who is just as much his mom as Timmy's real mom). Almost every character didn't really care about being split up from a loved one of the opposite sex unless that loved one was in a romantic/sexual relationship with them. Imagine single parents raising children and infants of the opposite sex suddenly finding themselves on one side of a wall, completely separated. You'd expect tons of mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and just billions of people breaking through the wall immediately to get back to their families, but no, instead they all just kinda stay where they are.
the reason os that they forget what at girls/boys, so for example single parents would feel the void left by there children, but wouldn't know why
"robots, action figures and sports" went to school with about 27 gals who liked that stuff. not sure where they're at now.
I personally consider the song "Great To Be A Guy" to be the "What Made The Red Man Red" of Fairly Oddparents!
A giant wall... This episode predicted Trump before he even ran for president.
*+Lā hauʻoli* Question: Why does every single moment with emphasis on walls need a Donald Trump joke? It's been beaten into the ground thrice over at this point.
Cause it's ridiculous but true. How can trump think a wall can stop airplanes, tunnels, ladders, or illegals from hundreds of other countries.
it can't. of course, it would significantly decrease the number of illegals able to get into the US.
Dragonstar
Because it's an adult seriously discussing an idea that a kid would think of
Securing our southern border. Yeah, only a kid would think of that crazy idea!!
Didn't AJ and his dad, as well as Dinkleberg care about cleanliness?
Even Timmy's dad, to a certain extent, he tried to have a neat lawn and garden.
It was to compete with the Dinklebergs, but still.
The Fairly Odd-Parents always bothered me because I was never really sure what they were, the show came out around the time that I stopped watching most TV in general so I didn't get a good answer to that question for a while until I looked it up many years later. But before I did, I always kind of assumed they were ghosts, I vaguely remembered an episode where dinosaurs were mentioned, so in the back of my head I had this notion that they were dinosaur ghosts that just maintained a human appearance to not frighten people. It always sounded a little off in my mind, but then again it was on the same network as a talking sponge that was attracted to a talking squirrel, so I just wrote it off as being a strange show concept.
That dinosaur ghost concept is miles better then the fairies.
but spongebob is never shown to be attracted to sandy. what exactly are you talking about?
This is literally the best comment in the ENTIRE page. 10/10, fucking HILARIOUS!
AND THEN A SKELETON POPPED OUT!

I think that's his way of saying he's mesexual. Lol I don't know what he means.
the more you know.shooting star dadadadah.
Raven Hexenia He doesn't hate everyone but himself and I'd question whether or not he's attracted to himself in that manner. "Mesexualality" is a form of narcissism. If you mean metrosexual, that's a straight person with traits stereotypically associated with gay people. Asexuality either is the lack of sexual attraction to anyone, or it means he's someone who practices abstinence.
According to Da Rules: fairy magic cannot interfere with or create true love.
That, along with the fact that Trixie Tang keeps rejecting Timmy, it makes me wonder why he kept pursuing her? (At least until the show stopped focusing on her, I believe after the Wishology special) And why does Timmy reject Tootie when she seems to genuinely love him in some episodes?
And Why does the episode and the show act like there's no middle ground when it comes to love? Either women have to love guys, and vise versa; but same sex relationships apparently never exist in the show's own universe (unless they do and we just never see it).
Because Timmy is a dumb kid remember when he grew up he started to fall in love with tootie not because she was pretty now but she was different not knocking him for a kiss or creepily stalking him saying I love you obsessively she became approachable
Butch Hartman is a fundamentalist Christian who literally thinks you can pray away autism. No way in hell he was going to put openly LGBTQ+ people in any of his works, sadly.
"There's ways to make stereotypes funny, there really are."

Yeah.
How these type of cartoons describe love: Love is wanting to be with someone for eternity
How the really good cartoons describe love: Love is having a connection that you just know is more than anything you've felt before
Cupcakeluver0204 Exactly. Love isn't just about wanting to be with someone, love is about deeply caring for someone else, putting your needs above theirs, knowing them better than anyone else, etc. Simply wanting to be with someone is just romantic attraction. And yeah, that can turn into love, but it's not _at first._
Like the simpsons did in the episode where Homer Marge meet for the 1st time
I'll tell you what deserves an episode of 'admirable animation'... The recent episode of Gravity Falls, called Northwest Mansion Mystery. Completely brilliant, especially in it's characterisation and ultimate reformation of one Pacifica Northwest...
i second this.
Gravity Falls truly has been on a roll this season with one possible exception ("The Love God" being that exception for obvious reasons if you have seen the episode). so what are your guys's favorite episode of the season so far? mines "Into The Bunker".
OH MY GOD YYYYEEEEESSSSSS
I agree. Every single episode of GF is amazing, with the exception being Love God and Boyz Crazy.
As for my favourite of this season, probobly soos and the real girl.
Every episode of this show is a gem in my eyes... It is the most consistency brilliant TV show in existence right now in my eyes. My favourite episode of season 2 would be... The one I just mentioned. (With Society Of The Blind Eye, Blendin's Game, Golf War and Into The Bunker also being in my top 5). My least favourite (But still great) would be Soos And The Real Girl... I'm not into all that Japanese dating sim crap, so a lot of those jokes went over my head. But, as I said, the whole show is BRILLIANT... The codes... The secrets... The way each episode follows chronologically with references to past events... I love it. I love IT. I LOVE IT. GET THE PICTURE YET?!31

Interestingly, an anime called vandred touched on a world of men and a world of women. It was kind of cool cause they lived on entirely different planets and lived entirely different lives without being all the same. There were gay men and those who weren't interested in men and vice versa on the women's world. The coolest part was the fact that each knew of the other but thought of them as monsters. So when they meet, each side thinks the other is either a barbarian or a freak but both are prejudice. Both sides have aggressive people and soft spoken ones. The most fun part is that it takes months for them to be comfortable around each other, though it's three guys on a ship full of women. Then they later find out that men and women used to live together and freak out like 'omg, we can make kids with men?!'
+jolliapplegirl That show was awesome (and Dita is my waifu). But yeah, this anime was basically "will they or won't they?" done right, mainly because they give the characters actual reason to dance around the whole idea of getting together (which is a lot more than I could say for the average tsundere romance). Also, when I got around to rewatching it, I LOLed at how the mecha fusions were basically symbolism for "just fuck already!"
***** Huh, that is a good point. I never noticed it when i watched it as a kid. Personally, i liked the blue haired chick (Can't remember her name right now). Moreover, it even does the harem aspect right. Rather than a bunch a women in love with one guy, it;s a bunch of women curious about men and wanting to bone him purely out of curiosity. I can't fault them on that. I'd probably try to. Also, they had lesbians in it, if I'm not wrong.
*****
Meia was her name. Or Misty, if you're talking about the darker blue-haired, ponytailed girl that debuted in season 2. And yes, there were lesbians.... kinda to be expected when an entire planet's only one gender that reproduces via artificial means.
No, i meant the pilot one, so i think it was Meia. I was legit surprised about them being gay. It was the first time i ever saw a gay person in media. At first i thought they were just close but soon i got the feeling that there was more to it. And then there was that pregnant woman. I still don't get how she conceived a child. Now that i think about it, they had a trans person too. Shit, I'm noticing so much that i missed when i was a kid.
Funnily enough, my response when reading the Vandread synopsis on TvTropes was literally “Oh my god, they took that one bad episode of FOP and made it a whole anime?!”
Fairies have rules about not interfering with "true love" but how is forcing someone to love using arrows considered true love? For that matter, how is unrequited love like between Vicky and Chip Skylark considered "true love"?
Apparently it only has to be one person who feels that way since it was Vicky who felt that way. But that was not love that was stalking.
+fubukifangirl I'm pretty sure if Chip loved Vicky back he wouldn't have written Icky Vicky.
Well Chip did call her "Mrs. Skylark" in that episode, but that doesn't have to be a romantic statement. It was probably just Chip being the nice guy he is and supporting Vicky, even if it's not going to end up well for him.
Not to mention when Timmy's parents find Poof , Timmy couldn't return him back to Cosmo and Wanda as Mom and Dad fallen in love with him , and when Sparky became human he fall in love with his new form ie vain
i just realised that cupid is vocied by the nararator in power puff

I disagree. If Spain was a more accurate personification of his (My) country he would be VERY different character.
.....I did not know that. Apologies. I was basing my comment on the accuracy of America and (according to a friend of mine) Canada.
america's not accurate
at least to me
RockManOki x Eh, he's loud, strong, and eats alot. All the other countries find him obnoxious and annoying, and while that may sometimes be true he just wants to be a hero and help everyone he can. Sound pretty American to me.
+Yami Chick most Americans dont act like that
honestly when i was a little girl this episode confused the heck out of me. i am a girl but ive always had what if thought to be a "boys personality" so i didnt know where i fit in because i was not a boy but i did not act like the girls.......stupid episode made me feel like i wasnt a human. also i agree with the way that you see romance stories (im also asexual, straight asexual)
Cool story no one cares. Now GTFO
FathomLordKarathr i know that you dont care but im saying it anyway so shutup
Ignore the stupid comments and this episode. You didn't have a girl or boy's personality. You have you own personality. Express it and be proud of it. :)
Egie Asemota thankyou so so much. that really means a lot to me :D

If I find the guy who came up with this episode, I will drop the heaviest bowling ball on his face
+Sergio Jurado Well said.
+Sergio Jurado Two of them wrote The Boy Who Would be Queen and the other guy went on to create Johnny Test.
I remember hating this episode as a kid because of how disgusting the concept of the world being perfect eithout men was to me. As a *KID.*
I mean there they practically treat males like pigs like woman are anything but perfect they're probably more ambitious than males
This Episode has Aged Incredibly Horribly
Wait, so where did all the gender non-binary people go?
This came out before tumblr, fake genders didn't exist then
I repeat, this episode came out before tumblr existed, therefore fake gender identities did not exist
+William O'Dell
Trying too hard to troll
+shrimoteii tbh I thought my comment was deleted cause it wouldn't show up before. Oops.
+William O'Dell
Hey! Fake genders are important. Men, women, schmees and blorgorgs should all just get along.

"For some reason, I wan to call you DAD!"
Wait, she calls her husband 'dad'? This lady has problems.
If that's not enough, Timmy's parents are nicknamed "Mom" and "Dad". Let this sink in.
It actually may be funnier if this line had nothing to do with the story at hand and she just has unsettled frustrations with her biological father.
What makes me mad, is when I hear things like; if the sex isn't good or the sex isn't compatible…whatever that means…then the two people are not meant to be…
Now, I'll straight up say it, I'm a virgin, and never dated, but I am straight, that said however, I feel that sex is the very last thing that a true long lasting romanic relationship should be about. Hell, I think that if sex is the most important thing to a person, then they are shallow.
IDK maybe I'm asexual too…
Although sex isn't top priority, you should make sure you both know how to do it right.
"If they're bad, teach them; If you're bad, learn".
Zinervawyrm Im in the same boat agree
Zinervawyrm people actually think that? I'm not even surprised at this point.
Australium bacon I see comments like that all the time on relationship articles and things of the like. I personally think its as shallow as one can get. When I read about articles about a 90 year old couple married since they were 18, I doubt they lasted that long because the sex was just that damn good for that long. Things like sex and ideal looks fade. I think the real test to love is time itself, time to figure out and learn what the other person likes or dislikes, not how good the sex is or how hot someone is.
Zinervawyrm you are so right
Cupid as a concept being utterly terrifying actually isn't all that far off considering the fact that the older Greek myths about him (where he was called "Eros") claimed that he was an ancient eldritch abomination who even the other gods feared. Not even kidding, his siblings included the personifications of the Earth itself, darkness, night and _the Ancient Greek equivalent to _*_Hell._*
Take that Vacation man, you deserve it.
See ya...whenever.
Brandon Roberts
My response to Cupid is, "A world without love is a world with hate!" I didn't really see that much. I mean, the women and the men seemed to get along just fine without each other, aside from them crying about how they don't have their significant other.
Brandon Roberts
Yeah, I guess, they couldn't go into any other type of orientation that wasn't heterosexual, because Nick might have 'A Million Moms' knocking at their door. At least, 'Good Luck Charlie' tackled that type of orientation, and at least they made a good episode out of it.
Who cares about 'A Million Moms?' They were nothing, but a bunch of hate-mongers along with the other jerks that sent death threats to the cast, especially the little girl that played Charlie.
So, being with somebody that makes you feel like crap and treats you like dirt is acceptable as long as it somebody that is a different sex than you? What the....I am probably getting off topic, but ugh...
Brandon Roberts
Yeah, I wish that wasn't the case.
What, why does he need a vacation? All he does is make 15 minute reviews of kids shows. Not exactly several hours of in depth critique of artsy filmography.
