This was reinforced when car pooling with a friend & her son had car behavior problems on the way to school, she played acid rock. On my day to drive he behaved like a perfect little gentleman, calm quiet etc. Watching this I did a brief experiment by switching channel to acid rock. Within minutes poor kid devolved into a rabid dog. Told the mom & she marveled at the bizarre changes. He was 4 yrs old. Not sure how long she played Christian or classical music but we saw it repeatedly. My fellow Christian mom's frequently 'teased' me for my odd refusal to play contemporary music, till they got older then said ""I wish we had never allowed our kids to listen to ______"". The reason I became so immovable on music was a new friends 3 yr old daughter belted out "Like A Virgin" and knew every single word. I can still remember my horror as that tiny girl sang a r*pe song in front of her mother & my face. I had infants & toddlers so easy decision. Ps music lessons also helped enormously and all play piano today.
