From what I remember Kiss 100 had only just become legal in 1991? For me, Kiss 100 was one of those stations that I would pick up now and then when it was a pirate. I moved a few times in those years. From west London to southwest London (Hayes, Slough, Staines, Kingston). I remember when it became legal it lost some of its credibility with many, but I always felt it was a strong station even after it's legal status. At least for the first few years. From what I can remember the DJ line up didn't change much with many of the DJ's continuing to play into the mid-nineties, when I left the UK.
I agree that Kiss was still good to listen to after it went legal. I had less time to do so but when I did, I still enjoyed a lot of the shows. As you say, it got more commercial as time went on. I was in the Kingston area for much of that time so probably had similar radio reception to you. Great memories of the early days though!
