The Portuguese Empire lasted until 1975. The time from 1578 until 1975 would be more like a long decline for the Portuguese.

The same is true in East Africa. The slaves were exported to places like Oman by Arabs and African muslims. This is basic knowledge that is taught to school children. You shouldn't blame all the Westerners and ignore the blame owed to people of your faith.
