I always love seeing visitors show my hometown. Originals is a beautiful, small, well-curated store. Groove Merchant is good, too. The only other must-visit (next time) is Tunnel Records, way out west near the Beach (Pacific Ocean). It is my favorite newish store in San Francisco today. Great trilogy you made.
Lol. Got a huge kick out of all the different versions of future James chiming in. Glad you enjoyed your trip. Great part of the country you explored. Cheers!
Frisco has some great shops…sounds like your visit was full of good times!! Next time head south…we have some phenomenal shops in southern Cali as well! Lots of good picks my friend. I need to grab that Emitt Rhodes on vinyl…I don’t have it yet! 👊🏼
I didn't know that The KLF album so I sampled it and it was way more mellow than I thought it would be. My memories of THE KLF are pounding techno/trance tunes. Looks like that was from before your album came out. Sounds interesting, may give it a listen. Glad you had fun out west! Cheers, Tom
James - Excellent mix of site visits, recap, and online captures. Very well put together as a story and I respect the work put into this. You might consider adding chapters here or experiment with them in future videos when you go over a certain minute mark. Cheers!
Loved this 3 part Bay Area series. I think the bay as a whole has the best collection of record shops in the country with Originals, Groove Merchant, and Tunnel as my top 3. Glad to see you enjoyed yourself. Also digging the new name. Cheers. Edit: forgot to mention to check out Bar Shiru in Oakland next time. They're a vinyl hifi bar similar to the many Jazz Kissas in Japan - they host listening parties of albums you'd love
Glad you dig Kafef! I love it as well. I know maybe the vocals aren’t everyone’s thing. Blew me away when I first heard it. Haunting in the best of ways. I also really like his other new record. Very different but also great. Watermelancholia. Check it out if you haven’t heard it.
if you listen very closely to 'chill out' you'll recognize quite a few synth lines that were about to pop up in their stadium house phase later - especially on remixes and versions of the 'white room' album tracks.
Chill Out was my introduction to the KLF (in certain circles, it’s the album they’re most well known for, as it could be argued it’s the most well-aged piece of music they released). When I eventually did come around to listening to their bigger pop records, I started recognizing bits that were woven into Chill Out and it blew my mind 😅
When I put on Urkin Koray, my cat grabbed the toaster and jumped into the hot tub. That guy sounded like Borat and Zanfir were getting married in a cheap Kazak bath house. You owe me a new toaster and a cat. The cat can be old.
I was in Bradford via leeds today.
What a great trip you've had to San Francisco. Great pick ups!

Another great video!! Thanks for sharing
That Kadef Sounds quite intriguing. Just enough bottom to hold things together while they fly into outer space. Thanks for showing. Cheers!
thats a great description!

The 10 upgrades would be a great part 4.

Meal sounds yum. How did they turn out? The slow cooking meat season is almost upon us here. I’m excited.
the michelada looks solid

imho a lot of their stuff has aged quite well, in some way or the other. or at least is of historical relevance. @@hardfiled
@@bazedjunkiii_tv absolutely, didn’t mean to imply I thought otherwise.
