I didn't see a reason to get a 24mp Leica, til I bought the M11Monochrom. I have my Major MP cams. SL2S was just on sale for $3k, with extra battery, etc. So I bought mine last week, early Jan25. Mainly for M lenses I have. No intention of getting Leica glass. Not against it, just not needed. So far, the retention of highlights is indeed, impressive. Easy to UpRez files, and MultiShot for food, etc. Used on weddings already. It delivers a different image, that is very smooth, pleasing, flattering, balanced, uniquely so. First camera in a decade that is less than 42mp, for me. But it really does make so much sense. SL3S will not be more MP anyway. and I think at $3k it makes a lot of sense, esp bc I have 12 M lenses. Can put 2 bodies, & 12 lenses in a briefcase. And saving highlights is the next holy frontier for sensor tech, but available here. For me, this fills a gap, I didn't realize. Saving clipped highlights, great for wedding and photojournalist work. Have to see how it is for portraits. Unexpected Bonus: it's amazing for BW, the conversions are uniquely different, as the sensor is different. Haven't quantified those exact nuances yet, but with the M11M, which is stunning, yet this still offers unique value for BW. I'll try and make a video about it :)

Sl2-s hands down one of the best cameras. Love it tremendously. I sold it for the sl3 and I miss it.

In late November 2024 I bought a brand new SL2-s for just $ 2,700 here in Denmark. It's a joy to shoot with. Great camera and welcomed supplement to my M240 and M240P. Thanks for sharing and keep on rolling.

I’ve just seen this on the way to work. Not watched the video yet, but I will of course.
I bought an SL2-S on Dec 20th as I craved a Leica but I know that the rangefinders weren’t for me.
I’ve been a professional wedding photographer for 15 years but gave it up due to the fact I started to hate weddings. So I’ve had many cameras, from the Fujifilm finepix, Nikons, canon 1D’s, a dabble with Sony and when I retired from weddings I got a GFX. All gone now.
The SL2-S isn’t the best camera I’ve ever used but it is the only camera that makes me happy when I shoot with it. It is built like a tank on steroids, it feels amazing to use (but try a prime before one of the massive zooms) the EVF is incredible, the ergonomics are wonderful… it’s heavy but it never feels heavy and the low light performance is breathtaking.
There’s more, but I’d be here too long. All I’d say is if you’re thinking of getting one…. Do it, it’s an experience to behold.

What is the close focus adapter you’re using? Thanks. I appreciate your channel so much.

You make me want it. I do have a Panasonic S5 right now and although the images usually turn out great also in low light, the EVF of the SL2 series is plainly just better. :)

Have a question if you don't mind and I think you are in a great position to answer. I have a SL currently. I originally bought it to shoot with vintage lenses but I find it difficult to use for manual focus due to the focus peaking not being super accurate. I did buy one of the Panasonic 1.8 50mm lenses and I've been primarily using that on the SL but the AF just doesn't quite cut it. The eye/face tracking doesn't really ever work and if you try to switch to more of the focus grid it just seems like it clutters up the screen and gets distracting. I wish you could shut off all of the focus grid boxes on the screen when enabled. Also you can't have the composition grid and focus peaking on at the same time on the SL which is a bummer. That being said are those things on the SL2-S any better? Really I'm just wondering how the autofocus works, behaves etc. I've found no videos showing it in action. On all other cameras you can always find someone screen recording the AF at work but with Leica not so much.

For stills the af of the SL2 is very good, and you have stabilisation on top

@@webersteve1547 I find the SL's single point AF pretty good but the face tracking is pretty much worthless. How well does that work on the SL2? Also how much of the sensor area is available for an AF point? with the SL you only get a grid in like the middle 75% of the sensor.

Best sensor ever. Unfortunately the cam is too heavy.

I could see how you would think so. It is a heavy piece of kit.
