Megan Morris yes, very understandable that you're upset. It upsets me as well to a high degree.. I see someone said "progress takes time". Yea that's easy to say from your computer chair. Meanwhile people are actually DYING just for not believing in an established imaginary friend. If you can sit back and be cool with that, then something is wrong with you. It is completely understandable why someone would get upset watching this. And to think that so many in the U.S. are legislating based on their religious beliefs (opinions) makes situations like this ever more likely in our future if we don't fight back.

Imagine if they put a Christian or a Muslim on Egyptian TV they would of accepted that but Egypt would charge a Atheist if they attack Christianity and Islam and Judaism and they would consider that a felony and blasphemy charge that’s why you have to be careful what you say out of your mouth when you go to Egypt or are in Egypt.

Vic as much as I think their beliefs are batshit crazy I do understand it to a certain degree. People want to be able to explain things. They want to think their life has meaning. They want to know what happens when they die. They want to think they don't die. They want to think their family and friends don't die. And they are willing to play mental gymnastics and believe otherwise insane things to explain those things and get the answers they want.
There are also lots of societal pressures. People want to be a part of a community and sadly more people are religious than not.
Times are slowly changing thou. The more we are able to understand the world we live in the more it contradicts religious doctrine. But sadly I do not ever think humanity will rid itself of religion completely. There will always be some believers among us. And as much as I think religion blows I will let them practice their insane beliefs as long as they are not hurting others because I also believe strongly in freedom. Even freedom to be dumb.

I even think, that most people in power are atheists. They just pretend to be very religious and use religion to subjugate the common people.

JTR to be fair, from the host's viewpoint, the atheist is the dangerous extremist. It's very scary how growing up in that ultra-religious environment warps one's thinking.

    • @jtr7377
      @jtr7377 6 років тому +2

Indeed, that is true, and this is why I do not subscribe to moral relativism most of the time (when I do, it is mostly looking back in history). Despite the host's warped thinking, he is still a douchebag for going out of his way to harm someone who is likely not going out of his way to harm other people.
The difference between the Westboro Baptist Church and this Atheist kid is that one of them is in legit danger due to the stubborn stupidity of the larger society that often leads to violence, and that right there is what truly fills me with anger. No wonder ignorance is bliss, just knowing about this crap ruins my mood. I can only imagine how miserable that kid is feeling though.

Conor Flaherty, brother, actually islam is different from other religions in that regard, because we actually have faith, but we also believe we can proove it with facts, because the quran hasn´t been changed since it was revealed over 1400 years ago, however what´s remarkable is that it has scientific miracles, all of them proven to be true in modern time. These clips are not long, they will give you an idea of why islam isn´t just faith based. Take care.

    • @coinborg8305

Do you know why textbooks and research is constantly updated? Because it turns out the old "facts" were actually incorrect and inaccurate. The fact that the book came out over 1,000 years ago... that alone is a red flag. It does not contain facts much like the bible doesn't. These are stories made up by people trying to make sense of a very complex universe with extremely limited or no scientific understanding of how the universe actually works. They are purposefully vague and "open for interpretation" so that people can draw what ever conclusions they want from them and do mental gymnastics to make it make sense. If one of these books truly had proof and facts explaining why one faith is correct then that faith would very quickly dominate the entire planet and people would drop their religion and switch. But no religion has done this because they aren't presenting facts and evidence. They are presenting stories to try and teach people life lessons. Nothing more my friend.

While he's waiting he is completely in tune with himself and life and is being mindful of his last moments and praising life like he had never done before. It isn't until his execution date that a priest comes by to receive a confession and administer his last rites. He refuses the priest and tells him he only wants to be alone. The priest kept insisting and wouldn't leave. The man finally got him to leave. After the priest finally left the man couldn't help but notice how the priest was living like a dead man. More lifeless than the man about to be executed.

Religious leaders have a level of status and authority in society and they’re expected to take arguments against Islam seriously and able to respond to them since Islam claims to be the final message to mankind from God and perfect for all people from all cultures and races and tribes and is the superior political, cultural, etc system which would unite all of humanity and so it’s expected that they be able to respond to arguments and criticisms without Being emotional. But the tv hosts are wealthy celebrities who have more in common in their daily life with westerners than working class Arabs so they go out or their way to be super conservative. It’s actually similar to republican campaign strategy.... rely on social cultural issues since you have no pretense of fighting for the average working class American

Apparently there's something wrong with the atheist because he doesn't believe stupid shit for which there's zero evidence.
It looked to me as though the host was afraid that, if he didn't denounce the atheist loudly and strongly enough, he might be a target.

I have never met a theist that respects atheists. I just haven't. There is always condescension and arrogance. We need more "new atheists" like Dawkins. More people that are forthright about their atheism. More people that stop giving religion respect. Being respectful is only going to get your rights trampled on. Religion is BS, not worthy of respect. Am I supposed to respect people that believe in the tooth fairy? How long are we supposed to humor these idiots that keep pushing their agendas into schools and politics.

You know, the West's been there in the past... we should probably try to help them with this. You know, send people to talk with their religious and secular leaders, who might not listen, but it will show their people that it's all right to think differently. 'Cause, you know, it's pretty bad right now.

Ironically the mufti was probably trying to protect the atheist by suggesting he needs psychiatric help. The punishments for professing atheism in public are extreme, upto and including the death penalty I believe. Not to mention vigilante 'justice'. By saying he needs psychiatric help he is giving the guy a plausible defense.

Actually in Egypt being atheist is viewed the same as insulting the president directly. In fact they officially made a law against atheism there just couple weeks after this incident. I hope this young man left the country because otherwise his very life may be threatened by now. No wonder in such a regime the host would react like that : he had no choice himself. His career and possibly life were on the line. Both regime and population mentality need to change, and i don't see that coming.
