I live in Egypt as an Atheist. You Western people should just enjoy all the freedoms you have every single day. What you saw in that video is pretty much how life is in Egypt for atheists. People really *really* think we are mentally unstable people. It is better to say that you're a serial killer, than to say you're an atheist.
Ibraham Lincon trust me they are just as bad its like looking in a mirror. Its all about image christians hide theirs better while muslims don't give a shit. If you look at history when muslims first came to north africa they acted some what friendly. But once they got demographic domination well you see what happened. Make no mistake Christianity dose the same tactics. I am not say all christians or even all muslims are in on it but its in their doctrines to spread religion. Peacefully or by the sword.
Mammon Faust That's true, But I'd say the average Muslim is probably more fundamentalist than the average Christian in the sense that you are more likely to murdered for leaving Islam rather than Christianity.

+Aroon 5 I'd love to ask for statistics to substantiate that claim of yours. But even more so I'd like to ask in what way is that relevant to my concerns for the young man's safety?
Aroon 5 1. Atheism isn't a religion. 2. I know that there are many religions in the middle east. Sikhs, Jews, Christians, Hindus, and many others. I said it's not often you see people so open with other belief systems in these Muslim majority countries, because it is dangerous.
I left Islam 13 years ago. At the time I thought I was the only person to have ever left Islam. Now there so many ex-Muslim atheists who are public about their lack of belief. It gives me hope
there are many more, thing is, it's already hard enough for western muslims to admit in fear of losing their family, so imagine for the ones living in officially islamic countries.

Hbibh Jonquil if you know it’s going to go badly I’d start in very small steps. But just remember there’s so many other men and women like you out there, so reach out and build a support group because it’s a very heavy topic. So the one speaking his believes calmly is the one who needs psychiatric help. The people wearing silly hats and shouting are the ones fit to diagnose him, be on TV, run the government, the list goes on... This was the entire world just a century or two ago. And obviously it wasn't the entire world that moved on. (EDIT: This is also why atheists tend to be more educated and be better at debating. They have to be. Otherwise they'll be eviscerated by fallacies)
This is such a perfect example of what happens when a religious person meets their first non-believer. The religious person becomes angry and erratic and confused so all they can do is accuse the atheist of being angry and erratic and confused.
Nasser would simply purge most of the Muslim Brotherhood like he did back in the day, and reinstate a secular military government. It seems to be the only way in some nations...
And vice versa, muslims also use the internet, and youtube to spread the message of islam. So, if anyone has questions regarding anything in islam, they can find a scholar talking about it here, and increase their knowlegde. I do very much like this channel as well as a muslim. Peace.
Suleman Malik lol but religion isn’t based on facts... whatever they read from a religious “scholar” they can then use the internet to fact check with billions of sources that disproves whatever nonsense the religious person was pushing.
Conor Flaherty, brother, actually islam is different from other religions in that regard, because we actually have faith, but we also believe we can proove it with facts, because the quran hasn´t been changed since it was revealed over 1400 years ago, however what´s remarkable is that it has scientific miracles, all of them proven to be true in modern time. These clips are not long, they will give you an idea of why islam isn´t just faith based. Take care. ua-cam.com/video/7d16CpWp-ok/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/sYajKl-Xr6c/v-deo.html
Do you know why textbooks and research is constantly updated? Because it turns out the old "facts" were actually incorrect and inaccurate. The fact that the book came out over 1,000 years ago... that alone is a red flag. It does not contain facts much like the bible doesn't. These are stories made up by people trying to make sense of a very complex universe with extremely limited or no scientific understanding of how the universe actually works. They are purposefully vague and "open for interpretation" so that people can draw what ever conclusions they want from them and do mental gymnastics to make it make sense. If one of these books truly had proof and facts explaining why one faith is correct then that faith would very quickly dominate the entire planet and people would drop their religion and switch. But no religion has done this because they aren't presenting facts and evidence. They are presenting stories to try and teach people life lessons. Nothing more my friend.
I am Atheist and also have Egyptian ancestry from from my great Grandfather on my dad’s side. I have always been cautious to talk about my beliefs with Egyptians because a lot of them are very passionate about their religions and I just want to keep the peace.

Karl Rove As a Bosnian atheist, I think you're talking out of your ass. Our Muslims are as secular as it gets. Hell, it's almost taboo NOT to utter blasphemies over there, and nobody but a few old women from the villages would give a shit if someone quit believing in God. In fact, they hardly believe in Islam's core doctrines. Perhaps they wouldn't be too pleased with you converting to Christianity, given the bloody history of the war, but that's about it. Why did you think that Christopher Hitchens himself stated that if he had to live in one Muslim country, it would be Bosnia? Small world.
Why did they even invite him there? What did they expect to happen? Even if they expected to completely disprove atheism, he would still have needed to explain his "wrong" views first...?

I'm reading a book on mindfulness and there's a part where the author is talking about how a man who has been sentenced to death is sitting in his cell waiting to be executed. While he's waiting he is completely in tune with himself and life and is being mindful of his last moments and praising life like he had never done before. It isn't until his execution date that a priest comes by to receive a confession and administer his last rites. He refuses the priest and tells him he only wants to be alone. The priest kept insisting and wouldn't leave. The man finally got him to leave. After the priest finally left the man couldn't help but notice how the priest was living like a dead man. More lifeless than the man about to be executed.

How many times has an Arabic atheist been dragged out of his home and killed by a lynch mob, or had to flee his/her country? Too many to count.
That’s not as uncommon in Muslim world as u might think lol. Religious leaders have a level of status and authority in society and they’re expected to take arguments against Islam seriously and able to respond to them since Islam claims to be the final message to mankind from God and perfect for all people from all cultures and races and tribes and is the superior political, cultural, etc system which would unite all of humanity and so it’s expected that they be able to respond to arguments and criticisms without Being emotional. But the tv hosts are wealthy celebrities who have more in common in their daily life with westerners than working class Arabs so they go out or their way to be super conservative. And what's worse, the Deputy Sheikh works at Al-Azhur university, which is supposed to be one of the greatest seats of learning in the Muslim world....I don't think it can claim that anymore, not with this guy there. Honestly, as a believer myself, I can understand why some atheists, when seeing this, think some religious people are loonie, and I agree these guys are off their rockers. This man had a right to speak about his beliefs, and you can tell he wasn't trying to offend them, just trying to give his side of things. Ultimately, this proves why Church and State need to be separated, and why all people, regardless of religious beliefs, or lack thereof, should be able to speak their minds freely, without being treated like this.
Apparently there's something wrong with the atheist because he doesn't believe stupid shit for which there's zero evidence. It looked to me as though the host was afraid that, if he didn't denounce the atheist loudly and strongly enough, he might be a target.
Clint Holmes 1)the Quran is not any old holy book. it's the final unaltered word of God. 2)Besides that, Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and will soon become dominant while Atheism is dying out. What more proof do you need????
I have never met a theist that respects atheists. I just haven't. There is always condescension and arrogance. We need more "new atheists" like Dawkins. More people that are forthright about their atheism. More people that stop giving religion respect. Being respectful is only going to get your rights trampled on. Religion is BS, not worthy of respect. Am I supposed to respect people that believe in the tooth fairy? How long are we supposed to humor these idiots that keep pushing their agendas into schools and politics.
You know, the West's been there in the past... we should probably try to help them with this. You know, send people to talk with their religious and secular leaders, who might not listen, but it will show their people that it's all right to think differently. 'Cause, you know, it's pretty bad right now.
Ironically the mufti was probably trying to protect the atheist by suggesting he needs psychiatric help. Internet = religion killer. Lmao. I love it.
Religion requires ignorance to flourish. The internet needs to be provided to every part of this planet.
Take care.

ua-cam.com/video/sYajKl-Xr6c/v-deo.html

While he's waiting he is completely in tune with himself and life and is being mindful of his last moments and praising life like he had never done before. It isn't until his execution date that a priest comes by to receive a confession and administer his last rites. He refuses the priest and tells him he only wants to be alone. That’s not as uncommon in Muslim world as u might think lol.
