I've been thinking about getting a ham radio. I know it's not needed for the license but I'm interested in sending and receiving CW, so I've been studying for both the license for the ham and practicing CW on a simulator. Since I've gotten excited about new hobbies in the past only to lose interest in it later, I just thought, maybe I can use a website that allows me to listen to real ham radio transmissions live, that except for joining in the conversation I can use a ham radio-like dashboard. If I use it for a year at least once or twice a week, then I'll take the test and start the process. If I find after a few weeks I know longer use these sites, I'll stop the pursuit. Is there a dashboard that is modeled after an analog shortwave, maybe even tube radio, that we can use to get the feel of using something vintage that we might be able to pick up on ebay?
Hello, its possible to recieve SSTV with websdr? I just download sstv decoder, is there any special settings ? is necessary download vb cable software ?
Can you find a numbers station on a WebSDR? You probably have to be monitoring the right frequency from the right location at the right time I imagine.
These are cool. I'm thinking of setting up a private version of something like this with a Raspberry Pi and an RTL-SDR. If you've ever experimented with something like that, I would (selfishly!) love to see a video on it. :)

I would love to set one of these up but the only thing I know how to do is mount an antenna on my roof. Literally everything else on the software side, I'm completely ignorant of and I think I still wouldn't be able to do it even if I had a tutorial.

Nice video. Audio is improved. Have you thought about doing a video on building a MMDVM raspberry pi zero hotspot, or some of the other MMDVM hotspots? I know there's some other videos out there on it, but it's something I'm going to try and do myself. I don't have my general yet, but it lets even folks with technician licenses use DMR/D-Star/System Fusion etc to talk to people around the world on VHF/UHF bands over the internet. Thought it might be something you'd like to check out if you haven't already. 73
I've thought of buying the board for my pi zero, but did an awful soldering job and ruined the pins last time with another project. I have a fusion radio in the car so I may do this in the future!
Hey! Is there anyway I can monitor this frequency “451.1125” located in Douglas County Colorado? Like is there a way to monitor it online with a computer if I don’t live in the state? Thank you.

Not sure what is wrong, but no matter which site I use, I have no audio. Audio works on all other websites, but none of the SDR sites have any audio. Am I missing something?
I find trying different browsers is the answer. For instance I mainly the Dissenter Browser. When I try to do a search for something in the Joann Fabric website, it just hangs. I use Brave and it works fine. I have Chrome, Dissenter, Brave, and Mozilla loaded on my computer and switch whenever I have a problem with Dissenter. This has never Not solved the problem for me.
@@ModernHam thanks I went on there and checked it out. It's mostly HF with everything else sprinkled in. Did like that I was able to listen in on a Germany station in 2m!

WOAH! Small world, I finally got back into the SDR community today and the nearest antenna to me is N4BUT. Love the five straightforward frequency blocks. Thank you so much for this local contribution! Near you now is K4NDZ (Ocala), they receive a very diverse set of frequencies but across like 30 blocks so switching between all those isn’t as ideal for surfing. Thank you again, I’m still legit shocked at the coincidence of finding your comment. lol

Don't know about your usual videos but your audio sounds smooth
I'm new to ham radio, and I very much enjoyed your exploration of web sdrs. Subscribed.

SSTV is what that signal is. I have capture software for capturing SSTV images. I also have cw capture software too.
