I loved Baldo on it's initial release and enjoyed the difficulty, because so many games of this type were walks in the park, so appreciate the intention. I rave about the game, though I understood other's frustrations... it was still my top gaming experience of last year :)
I have a massive backlog, and don’t know when I’ll get around to playing it. But I’m buying it now and will play it eventually. I have a ton of respect for developers like you listening to solid channels like SwitchUp and trying to deliver the best experience for gamers. Good on you! And thank you!

Mark, you've done a fantastic job here at being an ambassador for us gamers. I was very hyped for Baldo, but didn't pick it up due to all of it's issues at launch. The fact that these guys, who'd already busted their rear ends making this game, were willing to listen to the criticism, then act on it and make the necessary improvements is such a boss move on their part. A round of applause for these devs. I will be picking up the game now.

This was the video I've been waiting for. It sounds like the developers addressed many of the harshest criticisms and made meaningful, positive changes. You're right in saying that large developers usually don't take the time to address feedback, so it's really cool that these guys did. I may have to give this a purchase now!
I've never seen a video showing how well a developer has done to improve a game. Digital Foundry is the only one but this is more interesting. I might even buy this game because it looks really good

Was looking forward to this game so much and then skipped it when the reviews came out. Downloading now! Props to the developers for doing this, even if I don't like the game, I am happy to know I am supporting the right kind of developers.

I'm so happy to hear the devs have been trying hard to turn this around. I really wanted to like the game. I will give it another shot. Hopefully after everything is all worked out with the expansion someone will pick it up for a physical. Edit: just noticed a physical for EU regions! So gonna preorder

The icing on the cake when I first played was the royal library dungeon where you’d be stuck in the mirror world and the ghosts wouldn’t spawn or the game would freeze constantly. I revisited the game and I’m also impress with the changes! Im glad they put in the effort.
I said this when you did your review of deaths gambit rebirth, but I think it's really important to support developers that put the effort into putting massive improvements into their game. I know there's often the argument that this is how it should have been at release and I don't disagree, but there are so many devs that would never look back and put in the effort to make the improvements. Especially for a small developer like this!
Firstly... thank you Mark so much for this video and for taking the initiative in the way that you did. I was thinking at the end of the video that I might e-mail the developers to thank and commend them, but if they'll be reading the comments then I'll do so here. I was so excited by Baldo when I first saw its initial reveal, but there were so many issues raised in various reviews that I chose to let it pass me by, at least, for the time being. As a 40+ gamer these kinds of games really appeal to me, and as an old school gamer we had to learn to accept a game's nuances and foibles as a part of its challenge and, dare I say, charm. It's my limitations as a 40+ gamer, i.e. family and responsibilities, that mean I have to be selective with my games as time to play is restricted. I am so pleased to see that Baldo has been given such a huge ammount of post release support and fixes, and as it has a certain special charm I have bought it on my PS4 (yeah, yeah, Im sorry!) but I've also pre-ordered a beautiful physical copy. Many thanks to Mark and to Baldo's hard working developers.

So refreshing to see a company actually care about its customers. You talked me into picking this game up.
I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite videos thus far that I've seen on the channel. What an informative and insightful return to a game that originally had so much promise and that I feel has now delivered on that promise. I never gave up on Baldo and have been waiting for this moment. It shows just how much pride the devs have for their game and the respect for us gamers that they went back and made so many changes that were recommended to improve the player experience. Combined with the added DLC, I have no reason NOT to take this journey with Baldo now and I look forward to that adventure.

I too wanted to love this game and was hyped for such a long time. I gave up trying to beat it about 15 hours in. This video and these fixes are huge and I will gladly pick up the Switch and play this again. There were so many great moments I experienced in it, just marred by a couple of the game's quirks. I'm excited again, thanks devs and thx Mark & Glen.

This is why Switch Up is the only Switch channel I still regularly watch, so few channels take the time to revisit improved games like this and props to the Devs for the effort they've obviously put into the patches, definitely considering getting Baldo now, when I was originally put off at release ❤️

When it finally became available I was bummed out to hear about all the frustrating problems with the game. So I heeded the warnings. But after watching this video, I purchased the physical edition of "Baldo The Guardian Owls and The Three Fairies"on Amazon. Thanks again, Mark, and Merry Christmas to you and Glen! And a big THANK YOU to the developers who worked so hard to make this a great game and an artistic masterpiece!

And I've just seen there is a physical version being released in August..... Yes quite a bit more expensive than current sale but still tempted.
Preordered this and played and loved it even with the bugs. Then lost hearts and still played until that was fixed. Got really far and had a lot of items and orbs collected and then lost most of that in a bug so I quit and haven’t picked it up since. Great game tho!! Will probably start over now

Very nice to see that this game has improved a lot. I might get it now on the next sale. I have too many games to still play atm and the next sale might offer a bigger discount.

Thank you so much for this video! I think it's important to give (indie) developers a second chance when they're taking feedback and generally show a willingness to improve their game. And especially when they improved it as much as these devs did with Baldo!

I've been anxiously awaiting for this video. Its truly amazing to hear that the developers not only considered but implement all that feedback. I wanted to love this game so badly and played it quite a bit. It was the save bug that eventually turned me completely off. I also felt the need to play this along with a guide which takes so much of the fun out of it. After watching this video I want to thank both you and the developers for breathing new life into this game. Its so beautiful looking and I cant wait to jump back in to give it another go!! Cheers!!

These kinds of videos and the "All patched up" ones are my favourites, kudos to SwitchUp and to the developers of Baldo.
This was my first "blind buy" in years, and I was so disappointed. This update has made me decide to redownload the game and give it another go.
THIS is why user testing is so, so important. It's too bad they didn't get someone like you to test the game before launch, because I imagine the reception would be far better if they had.

I didn't play this game at launch because I had heard it was such a mess. After the patch, I cautiously picked it up and am in love with it about 20 hours in. It has its foibles still for sure; in my opinion, exploration works in 2D, and with a camera that allows a full 360 degree view of your environment- but isometric cameras, not as much. I've had to look a lot up on the Internet simply because investigation of areas is so hard. But honestly, I will play this game through. It's so charming! And I'm slowly learning the language of the game and am getting better and better at figuring what is worth looking at and what I CANT FREAKING PUSH, THANK YOU RODIA PALACE. Can't speak for what it was, but I very much find this game worth my time. Much love to the devs for this passion project (and I mean that in a good way).
Hey Mark, you are absolutely right. I remember hearing you in another vid that Baldo has been worked on and as soon as I saw it on Sale I pulled the trigger. Really enjoying it, deserves more attention now. Great vid and fair play to the devs for not abandoning the game.

Also, I want to show my appreciation to the developers! This must have been a massive effort to rework and update. Thanks for this video. This always looked like it had so much promise and your original video lead me to just put it on my wishlist and hope for improvements. Big props to the developers for the additions and tweaks. Looks like it plays much better. Might have to grab it now.
I played through the game before the patches and beat it. It took me 68 hours and I enjoyed it. Some of the best dungeon puzzles. It was a feather in my cap saying I beat Baldo knowing how difficult it was for others. I played the 3 Fairies content and beat that in about 7 hours this past weekend. I loved revisiting the world of Baldo again and doing the puzzles I missed. I did notice the enemies were almost too easy as compared to my first experience. I’m really glad I played it early and had the challenging version.
I've been waiting for a redemption video since Baldo's initially came out and received all those awful (but well deserved) critics, specially since you guys did the same with Immortals fenix rising on switch. What a jolly surprise!! when that bell rang, nice to see what was done and the dev's original intentions. Gonna wait and buy the game at full price just to show some appreciation for trying to pull a "No man's sky". Thank you switch up, this channel is a treasure.
So thanks to this video and all the improvements you've made ill give a second chance to Baldo, I love the game from the moment I saw the trailer but then I quit playing after all these problems, thanks for making it better it really is a good game, it just needed to be improved.
When I first heard of this game I was very interested, and then after watching your review I was disappointed to hear about how frustrated you were with the game, but based on your initial review I decided not to buy it. A great recap video. I’ll be honest your original video put me off picking up the game, but this made me just head out and purchase it - but on xbox (sorry). Just like with no man sky. We gotta give big props to these small developers rolling up their sleeves and fixing their games. Its one thing for a big company to do it but a whole other for indie people. Its takes guts to admit you drop the ball and the getting to work to make things right. I really hope this game is a success because of their extra effort.

I did get the game and beat it when it came out, but it was such a slog to get through. So it’s so nice to hear that they had fixed so many of the issues that really bogged down a game that should have been great. I’ve redownloaded the game and plan on playing that expansion and possibly playing through the game again!

I actually added the game to my Deku Deals wishlist from your "Interesting Games" video recently, and based on this update video and the sale I'm definitely going to check it out now. Agree that big props are due to the developers for taking the feedback and making such sweeping updates.
There is also a print of physical versions coming out. This version will have all the improvements on the game, so it would be a nice addition to your switch library.

Thank you for the video update! I had put this on my wishlist prior to the game release but the criticism after release made me hold off. I'm glad to hear there have been so many improvements. I'm going to download the game today to give it a spin. After coming off Tales of Arise's nauseating camera view and the This War of Mine's atmosphere, I'm really excited about the looks of Baldo and the gameplay.
I am so happy that there’s been improvements I was really stoked when I heard about this game and so excited but I also watched your review and heard the rumours on social media that it was going to be a disappointing experience. So glad that things look like they all have been updated and improved I’m gonna give it a shot.
