I think he meant tone texture/quality. There are singers with peculiar tones like Mori, Lyka, etc. but she does have one of the best vocal techniques! And she make sure to leverage on it. Kat is more comparable to Jona and Jessica.

Also Morissette in Akin Ka Na Lang on the Wish Bus, but her tone has changed since then. Nothing wrong, just different quality, now it's a bit rounder & thicker. Same thing with Regine when she was younger, her tone was very clean, light, thin, but it changed as she got older.
