@@Themadwollf inkshield would make as many bodies as damage was dealt, so it wouldnt be needed to remove the blockers. I think inkshield is still better, but Selfless squire is less restrictive in colours
Just to clarify the number of counters on Prime Speaker and the number of cards drawn at around 37:00 The Ability on the Great Henge is a Trigger NOT a replacing effect that changes the numbers AS the creature enters. Therefore Prime Speaker will enter as follows: 8 +1/+1 Counters (greatest power) -> Hardened Scales makes it 9 +1/+1 Counters -> branching Evolution (x2) and Primal Vigor (x2) each double = 36 +1/+1 Counter. When she enters the Henge will trigger as well as Prime Speaker herself. You can choose the order. When you resolve Henge first: - Henge will put 1 -> 2 -> 4 -> 8 +1/+1 counters onto Prime Speaker and draws A card -> Leaving Primespeaker with 44 +1/+1 Counters - Prime Speakers trigger will HAVE you to draw cards equal to her power which will be 45 (1/1 Base Power/toughness) -> Ending with a 45/45 Prime Speaker and 46 Cards drawn When you resolve Prime Speaker first: - Prime Speaker has 36 +1/+1 counters and you draw 37 cards. - then the Henge will put 1 -> 2 -> 4 -> 8 +1/+1 counters on Prime Speaker and draw you one more card -> Ending with a 45/45 Prime Speaker and 38 Cards drawn I hope this helps! :) In the End this did not matter that much. It would matter though if there were 37 or more cards and less then 46 cards left.
The end was just *chef's kiss* CGB saying "I just saw your hand last turn" is too poetic. This is why I don't play Blue in MtG much. You're often the problem.
As someone who loves his +1/+1 counter decks and risks drawing his deck with "non-may abilities" I totally understand the difficulty of figuring out those triggers.
Whoa, Vorel?! Hell ya, dude. SmallAnt continuously has the correct taste. I had a simic deck in standard back when that focused on Vorel. I've made a few versions of it with commander. I'm just starting with this vid, but can't wait and engaging early.
I think the counters wouldn’t be doubled on the squire because it’s a trigger on combat damage, if I’m not mistaken state based action says he’s dead before trigger resolves so primal vigor would be gone when trigger resolves. It probably doesn’t matter but I’m curious on the ruling on if that’s correct or not
That's my understanding as well: Small Ant would have died and all his stuff left the game before the counters were put on the Squire, but a crackback for 98 would still have been lethal so w/e.
Anyone else catch at 31:00 that the one Nazgul got an extra 3 +1/+1? Put 3 on, realized it was supposed to be 6, had already added 3, still added 6 more.
29:25 CGB didn't mention it, but killing the Nazgûl he just played in response to the tempting effect, prevents it from putting 2 +1/+1 counter on every wraith. Probably better than killing the biggest one.
CGB got foisted by his own potard: Math, numbers, and +1/+1 counters. AliasV, well played madam. I have a mono-white Myrel deck, and I'm glad she won. Myrel is way stronger than people give credit. And, that Martial Coup at the end was just... *_Chef's Kiss_*
"COVERT GO CONCUSSION" I AM HOWLING XDDDD Nothing against CGB, but I love when people snatch the win from him at the last moment - his reactions are great
Googled Soldiers, 2nd edhred deck that came up was Myrel(after Commander Mustard which might be the firs t time Mustard was ever first). I adore when you like accidentally stumble onto something thats really cool and it turns out that its already a thing 🤣
36:05 how bout that math: Zegana and Great Henge dont put counters on at the same time, first Zeganas effect which gets modified by the enchantments and then via the Great Henge ETB trigger (which couldve also been resolved after drawing the cards from Zeganas ETB in case he was actually about to deck himself; Zegana comes in with 8 which becomes 9 by Hardened Scales and then 18 to 36; afterwards, Great Henge puts one on her which becomes two which becomes 4 and 8 afterwards; 36+8=44 + 1 from her base power +1 from the the Great Henge trigger itself =46; couldve been 38 if he wanted to :)
not that it matters, but I believe the counters on selfless squire would not have doubled during damage the trigger goes on the stack, then smant loses due to state based effects, then the trigger resolves, the replacement effect is no longer there to replace the action of placing 98 counters with 196 counters
Small Ant is very big chill energy. It's quite nice. Also, I was playing the Hobbits precon and my brother played Primal Vigor; that game got out of control real quick.
On SmallAnts turn, when CGB destroyed his Seedborn Muse, did he not pay the extra for Thalia for all his spells? The same with the ponder in his turn? Or am I missing something?
Oh, it's Mesa Falcon guy!
MESA FALCON GANG LETS GO!
Fcuk Yeah! The Mesa Falcon Guy!
I need all the Small Ant Magic Content, this is the intersection of two of my favorite internet things
Same. I know three people at the table, and I think that’s the most people I’ve known in a commander video
Cgb as lord of Nazgul: No man can kill me!
Eilideh with Selfless squire: I am no man!
As foretold in the lore... Sorta.
I love Selfless Squire and how no one expects a Fog in white that comes with a BODY to hit back with.
It's a much better Inkshield
@@Themadwollf inkshield would make as many bodies as damage was dealt, so it wouldnt be needed to remove the blockers. I think inkshield is still better, but Selfless squire is less restrictive in colours
Also the inkshield tokens would be doubled just like the counters on squire.
That squire and cgb's face. Priceless.
SmallAnt :D glad to see him in more MtG stuff
That selfless squire transformed into Exodia real quick.
Get outta here
That was, in fact. a lot of math.
And triggers being resolved correctly.
I never would have guessed the ending either.
Looks at the time for video something is up it should not take 5 to 10 minutes to kill all players. Then uno verse 1 2.
That ending was brilliant. The fog meta is real!
Love the in person games! And once again, super cool guests. Huzzah!
Dude the look on cgb face was priceless and Olivia was just stirring the pot which made it even funnier definitely made me laugh so hard.
Just to clarify the number of counters on Prime Speaker and the number of cards drawn at around 37:00
The Ability on the Great Henge is a Trigger NOT a replacing effect that changes the numbers AS the creature enters. Therefore Prime Speaker will enter as follows:
8 +1/+1 Counters (greatest power) -> Hardened Scales makes it 9 +1/+1 Counters -> branching Evolution (x2) and Primal Vigor (x2) each double = 36 +1/+1 Counter.
When she enters the Henge will trigger as well as Prime Speaker herself. You can choose the order.
When you resolve Henge first:
- Henge will put 1 -> 2 -> 4 -> 8 +1/+1 counters onto Prime Speaker and draws A card -> Leaving Primespeaker with 44 +1/+1 Counters
- Prime Speakers trigger will HAVE you to draw cards equal to her power which will be 45 (1/1 Base Power/toughness)
-> Ending with a 45/45 Prime Speaker and 46 Cards drawn
When you resolve Prime Speaker first:
- Prime Speaker has 36 +1/+1 counters and you draw 37 cards.
- then the Henge will put 1 -> 2 -> 4 -> 8 +1/+1 counters on Prime Speaker and draw you one more card
-> Ending with a 45/45 Prime Speaker and 38 Cards drawn
I hope this helps! :)
In the End this did not matter that much. It would matter though if there were 37 or more cards and less then 46 cards left.
I was going to post an explanation , but yours is more clear and complete, so I don't have to write it anymore, thank you.
The end was just *chef's kiss* CGB saying "I just saw your hand last turn" is too poetic.
This is why I don't play Blue in MtG much. You're often the problem.
WHOOOO SMANT
I’m always happy to see him wherever :D
Eilidh had the Heart of the Cards this time for sure. ;)
that end game was EXTRAORDINARY!!! what a fun game, i love these in-person games and this was a spectacular pod!! ❤
Mesa Falcon guy, and Smant? in one video? how can i not watch? Honestly, I love seeing when Tanner plays Magic.
Eilidh created a new mechanic: Tempted by the Attacking Thalia.
The ending… I’m speechless! Alias, well played!!!
Always love the banter at the beginning of an episode lol
I LOVE the TV thing you guys have, that must be super useful!
"Oh look, it's the consequences of my own actions..." - CGB
Great game everyone!
As someone who loves his +1/+1 counter decks and risks drawing his deck with "non-may abilities" I totally understand the difficulty of figuring out those triggers.
It's so funny to me that Olivia and Eilidh can't not bicker, even when they're teaming up. 🤣
That’s the mark of true friendship
Whoa, Vorel?! Hell ya, dude. SmallAnt continuously has the correct taste. I had a simic deck in standard back when that focused on Vorel. I've made a few versions of it with commander. I'm just starting with this vid, but can't wait and engaging early.
46:05 Olivia singing some Linkin Park to set the tone for what was about to happen was perfect!! ❤😂🤘😁🤘❤️🫂🙏 Great game guys and ladies!! ❤
WOW! Did NOT see that ending coming! lolol
Omg so nice ending. Can just say karma accumulated for CGB and exploded in a very nice un crunchy timing.
It's so kind of Kyle Hill, the Hearthstone player to make Olivia's deck. Such a kind hearted soul
That was the best ending to a game of commander I've seen!
Awesome! CGB with EDH! Love this collab!
Hey, it's Tanner Minecraft and Mesa Falcon guy on that show with the queens of chaos! This'll be good :D
Great ending! Great episode! Love to you all!
Wow! You never really know how a magic game ends, until it ends that is!😂😂😂
I think the counters wouldn’t be doubled on the squire because it’s a trigger on combat damage, if I’m not mistaken state based action says he’s dead before trigger resolves so primal vigor would be gone when trigger resolves. Oh wow they sure gathered that magic
Great video... hey I like the view with the television above table 😉
Can I just say did not expect that ending. That was awesome.
Hoped to see SmallAnt again. Thanks for bringing him in!
What a win!!! Great game, great plays
Olivia and SmallAnt being the Math Ghosts at the end was hilarious. Well-deserved win by Eilidh!!!
This was one of the most fun to watch games I’ve ever seen ❤
OMG, what a surprise blowout! Kudos to the victor!
This may be the best ending to a commander game ever
Selfless Squire's flavor text "Call an ambulance! But not for me!"
Selfless Squire crackbacks never fail to put a smile on my face :D
Ive been watching a ton of videos of commander games lately and this may be the video that has the best ending to them all!
SELFLESS SQUIRE LETS GOOOO
Now I just need to see a comeuppance win XD I love these cards
Yay! Smallant playing more magic I loved him on the professor video a while back!
That’s a hard fumble 🤦🏼♂️😂 amazing game.
Spectacular turns for almost everyone this game!
that sure was some petard hoisting. gg's!
Anyone else catch at 31:00 that the one Nazgul got an extra 3 +1/+1? Put 3 on, realized it was supposed to be 6, had already added 3, still added 6 more.
That ending was unexpected. Great episode!
Absolutely love, the Meredith Brooks reference!
I had no idea Smallant was a commander player! That's awesome!
Wonderful game and wonderful ending!
I love smallant and seeing him play magic always excites me!
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. This was a fun and hilarious episode.
29:25 CGB didn't mention it, but killing the Nazgûl he just played in response to the tempting effect, prevents it from putting 2 +1/+1 counter on every wraith. Probably better than killing the biggest one.
I legit didn’t know who Tanner was, so I’m glad you introduced him.
CGB got foisted by his own potard:
Math, numbers, and +1/+1 counters.
AliasV, well played madam. I have a mono-white Myrel deck, and I'm glad she won. Myrel is way stronger than people give credit. And, that Martial Coup at the end was just... *_Chef's Kiss_*
Smallant! Also Olivia's deck intro made me laugh hard. Engagement!
Got em!!! Nice, love it. The look tho. So worth it!!!
SmallAnt handed everyone a stick of dynamite and said have fun
"COVERT GO CONCUSSION" I AM HOWLING XDDDD
Nothing against CGB, but I love when people snatch the win from him at the last moment - his reactions are great
that was some top shelf unhinged NONSENSE. kudos to all
Smallant just delivers and is so humble yet so fun to watch xD poor one to sit next to evil cgb xD gonna keep on countering
I love when Small ant comes on and plays magic
I never knew SmallAnt could play MtG. I thought he was utterly detached from these kind of games.
Fantastic game, and love that ending! Haha. One question, the archidekt links for the decks (specifically CGB's) isn't working, anyone else?
hey! thanks for the heads up. should be working great now.
I love Olivia's black mana 8 hoodie!! Where get it??
Googled Soldiers, 2nd edhred deck that came up was Myrel(after Commander Mustard which might be the firs t time Mustard was ever first). I adore when you like accidentally stumble onto something thats really cool and it turns out that its already a thing 🤣
I enjoy CGB's content. I enjoy seeing CGB get the rug pulled from under him more though lol Solid win for soldiers
36:05 how bout that math:
Zegana and Great Henge dont put counters on at the same time, first Zeganas effect which gets modified by the enchantments and then via the Great Henge ETB trigger (which couldve also been resolved after drawing the cards from Zeganas ETB in case he was actually about to deck himself;

That is an AMAZING ending.
That ending was hilarious.
I need to know where Olivia got her sweater! I love it!
I always feel like Lux Cannon is about as effective as Picollo’s “Special Beam Cannon.”
Oh my God that was the greatest ending!
SmallAnt! Glad to see him again, so cool.
OMG, what an end to the match. I just wish I knew what the plus-plus guy had that could have won the match with.
Smallant was dope on professors show can’t wait to watch this episode 🎉
Quite the ending! Turns out their were good reasons for Selfless Squire to be a $$$ card back in the day!
and this is why primal vigor is absolutely insane
not that it matters, but I believe the counters on selfless squire would not have doubled
during damage the trigger goes on the stack, then smant loses due to state based effects, then the trigger resolves, the replacement effect is no longer there to replace the action of placing 98 counters with 196 counters
Oh my lord what a finish. I need a cigarette after that.
CGB: I'm so jealous...
You won with that alone!
Getting to see selfless squire pop off .. beautiful
Seeing SmallAnt on an episode of Shuffle Up and Play is actually what got me into MTG UA-cam, and and that caused me to find EDH and CaH
That's so amazing to hear!
CGB flew too close to the sun, and did it to himself! GGs Eilidh!
Oh god the pantsing on this game! Poor CGB! Go Eilidh! Nice win!!!
this game was a rollercoaster
The simic dream! Only to be foiled by hand size! 😂
I need to see more MTGAnt because it’s such a cool addition!
Them just lowering Brians trophies is alway hilarious
So would this be Canadian highlanderjinks?
Not the ending I was expecting lol
