I wouldn't even consider the GoPro personally, GoPro has known for years about their overheating flaw and STILL refuse to fix it. I'd personally get the DJI.
I used to owned a gopro hero 7, and it did well. Now i want to upgrade the camera and was planning to get the higher gopro, but all the reviews i watched always point to the overheating problem which makes me wanting an osmo action 3, i glad i found a reviewer who not only talk sh*t about the gopro overheating problem, but actually give a solution, which for me makes the gopro 10 and 11 as my first and second choice again now. very well done
Just got back from a vacation where I crossed the Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver, BC with a GoPro 3 on my hat. After viewing the unstabilized video, I'm in the market to upgrade! This video is comprehensive and answered all my questions, thank you for your research. Costco is putting the GoPro 11 with accessories on sale in Nov 2023, so you know I will be picking one up.
I watched multiple comparison videos for quite some time to help make a decision on updating my action camera, and I have to say WELL DONE!!!! This is by far the best review I found. You explained all the features and side by side comparisons in the things I care about. I am so glad I came here to confirm my decision, which for the record will be the insta one RS. kEEP MAKING GREAT VIDEOS!!!
It's good enough, the real strength of the insta360 is the software implementation. Better than the others by far! Also being modular sets it apart, plus it's very reliable, never overheating and great battery life (you can get a long life battery not featured in my tests)
This was a really well presented review man. I particularly enjoyed that you reviewed the mics, and you have a rig which records the same footage across all the cameras. Really in-depth with all the features as well. Loved it!
Great comparison. To see them side by side is great, but even more difficult to choose from. I mainly want to use an action cam as a better quality dashcam, so my main feature would be the various timelapse options with good video quality. I bought a GoPro 8 (because it was cheap) a few months ago, but it was faulty right from the start. Video shooting at 1080 was fine, but as soon as I wanted to film any kind of time lapse at 1080p, the camera crashes after an unspecified time (usually within 10-15 minutes real time), tells me it's repairing the video, and i have to start again sometimes taking the battery out, so it will boot. seeing as I'm driving during that time, I sometimes don't notice, and fiddling with it during the drive is really not nice, either.
I like the side-by-side as I'm contemplating dropping my GoPro. Unfortunately, you did not even briefly touch on my main issue, that being the fact that GoPro requires a bulky OEM adapter in order to use external microphones. I use wireless Lav when recording and it makes for a clumsy, awkward, noisy (it clunks against things when moving), Rube Guldberg. What, if anything, do each require to plug in an external mic?
Actually you can use the media mod. It's a case that adds mic jack, hdmi port, usbc port and cold shoe mounts. You can see it in action on my vlogging set up video.
@@Rush-Media I appreciate the effort, but the referenced link only addresses the GoPro, and misses the point of a side-by-side comparison on how 'all' these address the external mic issue. Perhaps I am an outlier and place more importance on sound than most. Dunno. I will be looking into what is required for the Insta 360, adapter wise, as well as batteries. Does it 'require' an adapter, or is it optional. What is the adapter like, and can one simply use an USB C Lav directly? As for why I am so focused on this, my personal experience was that I knew the GoPro Adapter 'existed', but literally spent months experimenting with bad sound, and other options, because I was unaware that the GoPro OEM Adapter was 'required'. I would prefer to not to have a repeat of that with another camera. I looked at the ULANZI G9-5 you suggested, and see that it is intended for GoPro 9/10/11. It looks as though it will solve the dangling, clunky adapter issue, but I have the Hero Black 5. Knowing what to look for now (thank you), I found the ULANZI V2 that says it works with GoPro 5/6/7. Like said however, I will be abandoning the GoPro soon for a variety of issues, many of which you covered in this video. Again, the side-by-side is good in all other respects. Thank you.
So which camera did you go for? I recently bought the hero 9 without known about the clunky adapter and even worse that it's costs an additional £50. Absolute rip off so I'm going to send it back. Do any of the other cameras have this or can I plug a lav mic into a small adapter ?
I would say the GoPro 11 is the best bet, I like the DJI Action 3 but with the close focus issues I can't recommend it at the moment. The ONE RS is good value, so if you want to save money you could go for that too.
I just bought a Go Pro 10. You live in England. Go to a warmer climate and the overheating is a much bigger problem. I get much more glitchy footage in summer than winter
I wish the go pro had 422 10 bit rather than 420, better audio, magnet locking mount, no overheating, and a 1 inch sensor. Fantastic in-depth comparison video. Probably the best I've seen for action cameras. Would love more low light comparisons for future vids.
Stability? Customer support? Software updates?Software corrections? Inbred microphone standards? Bleed GoPro, bleed. Hope you feel the points where you lost your market share. Superior products are being delivered. And the customers cannot be fooled for ever.
Many thanks for this. I do standup comedy and am looking for a camera to film my sets when performing in a comedy club. (I currently use a simple camcorder but would like the addition of something like an action camera.). Which would you think is the best for a comedy club setting. (I’m not thinking huge clubs but ones that hold maybe 250 people max with the camera maybe 20m from the stage.)
Well, if you want the ability to record the audience too, a 360 camera is a good option. To give you a more helpful answer I'd like to know the purpose of recording the sets.
@@Rush-Media I tend to record my sets to get a better sense of what works and what doesn’t. O I post these to UA-cam but not often and also use them to send booking agents, clubs and festivals in the hopes of getting on. At the moment I use a simple camcorder which does a fairly decent job. I figure if I can have an action camera it would be less weight to carry around but alternatively I could have it running from a different angle to what my camcorder is and then can make a more interesting tape. THe 360 interested me for recording the audience but recognize that with the GO3 I could wear and record the audience that way while my camcorder records me from the back of the room
how well do these cameras stitch together the several different files? I'm concerned about buying one andit being unfit to record live performances to which I need it to run for at 1h maybe 2. but I have no need for stabilization
great vlog. Can I know what is the model and type of tripod you mounted Insta360 One RS in the video? Also, is Insta360 One RS easy to view photos or videos taken on the spot? if not, which model is a better option?
I enjoyed the video - I am looking to get a camera for motorcycling and making content. I like the go pro 11 but I am torn between the insta 360 or DJI ACT 3
Can I use an external mic with the Hero 11? I am looking at a camera which will work well shooting a motorcycle video journal and I wondered if you could recommend any of these camera's with an external mic, and if so which mic? cheers
To use an external mic with the gopro 11 you'll need a media mod or Pro mic adapter. Then you'll most likely want a wired mic that you can feed into your helmet
This is the exact kinds of videos I want to make. Giving the problems people face but also explaining why it's happening rather than just giving the problem and like covering up the solution. Can't imagine how long it took to edit this.
Which camera do you think is better for close up shots. When I’m out metal detecting and recording on my GP 8, I usually switch to my phone to get close up shots on some of the old coins I find, to get the finer details.
New to the “GoPro” world so never heard of the other brands. Dji was mentioned in another video and this was a great review. Looks like a dji is in my future.
On DJI action 1 and action 3! Yep!! I do that with my action 1. Works great. I remove door and then put the little frame case thing on then I put on a "mic adapter" from Amazon.. worth it even if you don't use extwrnal mic because it seals it better and makes for a right angle USB C.
Yea buddy!!! That is 100% true. I've been researching for a good action camera. I play guitar and other instruments as well. But for any videos or if I'm teaching I would like a camera with really good quality to mount on my head stocks for down the neck shots. I use a few DSLRs for the other angles.
@@JM_Tech I love the quick magnetic mount of the DJI, and the front touch screen. but the GoPro has a better quality image and you have to love the new light modes!
Nice video comparison! I have the GoPro hero 9 still going strong 😁 My only complaint is I wish it could handle low light conditions better but otherwise it's great!!
Can you charge insta 360 one Rs while you were streaming at the same time? So I want to buy a camera for my streaming purposes and daily use so can I charge the insta 360 one rs while I am streaming or recording something
Well, you can use the ONE RS as a webcam without even having the battery attached so it can be used indefinitely. When you are recording normally you can also charge the camera from an external power source.
The insta360 ONE RS is relatively outdated, and the image quality shows it. It was released during the GoPro Hero 9 era, right before the Hero 10 was released. They are miserably overdue for an upgrade.
Why GoPro is there? You didn't check it more than the allowed 15 minutes before overheating?😂😅 It was working for the whole duration of the test? 😂😂 No reset was needed?? 😂
Warning! The DJI Action 3 has a major flaw: ua-cam.com/video/Qrfu4jn5CdE/v-deo.html
There have been major firmware updates way back in December so don't beliieve everything you hear or read, thank you!
Yeah, I tested the firmware update and it wasn't much of a fix i'm afraid. I made another video about it. Anyway, the action 4 is much better!
