In this video I’m finally testing out the Minwax Polycrylic Clear Gloss Varnish as the varnish for my PM mixes. I know I’m late to the game with this, but better late than never! I really liked how it worked and that it helps to thin out my Behr/Glidden mix just that little bit more. I hope you enjoy watching this half as much as I enjoyed creating it! 😊 Thanks so much for watching! ❤️❤️
A lot of what you see being created on my channel when ready will end up in my Etsy store. Some pieces if they translate well to digital will also make it to my RedBubble and Society6 shops so if you see a design you like please check out my links below.👇🏻😊💜

NOTE: If you can’t find these brands or are in a different country the components you want are an untinted base house paint (base c or d, base 3 or 4 whichever is lowest, deep base or ultra deep base or neutral base) plus a water based polyurethane gloss varnish to make up your Pouring Medium. If you want to try a more traditional pouring medium base because you can’t get certain components, TOTALLY go for it and give it a try 😃 it’s YOUR Art after all! 💜
The colors are so crisp and deep. Love them.
Your descriptions are awesome, reflects your previous vocation as an IT analyst. Very useful for beginners like me. Thank you
You’re welcome Linda, I’m so glad it helped 🤗🌺
Jodie you are the best! I’m so getting that red gold!!! You are not alone with experiments. I’m n it for an adventure!!! Thank you!!!
Awww thanks Marina! That red gold I just my absolute favorite orange, to totally get it you won’t be disappointed! I’m so glad I’m not the only one that likes to get a little crazy with experimentation, I think it just makes it that much more fun! 😃😃💜💜
You have such beautiful results. Wow the colors are amazing.. thank you
You’re welcome Pam 🤗 thank you so much 💜
Awesome comparison! I was holding breath because I’m a Glidden/Behr/MW poly girl and swear by that recipe. Regarding the ever so slight squiggles, I would attribute that to the surface tension -try this experiment on canvas; it’s not as forgiving and the paints don’t slide around as much. Beautiful work as always!! 👏🏻❤️
Thank you Karen! Haha! .. yea I wanted to revisit the poly because I felt like it might work for me now compared to before and it certainly didn’t disappoint! I’m definitely going to add it into my rotation as I really like how it helps thin my Behr/Glidden mix that much more! And thanks for the tip on the squiggles, I’m taking note of that!! 🥰🥰
Absolutely amazing painting..Great artist 👏
Thank you! 🤗🌺
You're a joy to watch. Thx for your tips!
You’re very welcome, thank you so much Sara! 💜
Wow. Thank you for this video. It taught me something. Gorgeous Bloom. Those colors are gorgeous together. 💜
I’m so glad Joyce! Thank you so much! I honestly can’t get enough of these colors together, I think it might be part of the reason I test things out because these are the colors I like to use ha! 😃💜💜
Hi there. This was a great episode!!! Thank you for doing this. Lots of good tips, colors, techniques. Music, talking, or silence? Whichever you choose is just wonderful. Whenever someone sarcastically says I’d rather watch paint dry, I excitedly tell them, me, too. They don’t get it. Aren’t creatives awesome people. You’re the best. 🎶💞🎶
Hahaha! I love that, I too like to watch paint dry! 😉 And yes, creatives ARE awesome people!Thank you so much, Jan, for your support it truly means a lot to me! 🥰🥰🥰
I think that the three colors that you used and add that red velvet that you like and I like would be so beautiful together! 💜💛💙💖
Awesome! Thanks so much Sherrie. 🤗💜
Fantastic video Jodie, you were extremely helpful. And as for your paintings as always they were absolutely gorgeous, I love the colours, they look amazing together. Thank you so much for sharing your time, talent, and your creativity with us. Looking forward to your next video, kind regards Pamela 🙂💜
Wow! This is a real beauty too. The one on the right reminds me of a Monarch butterfly landing on a flower! It's exquisite!
It totally does doesn’t it! 😃 Thank you so much! 🥰💜
You have taught me so much! Your blooms are all so beautiful.
Oh I’m so glad Kelly, thank you so much! 💜🤗💜
Great info as always. You make it so easy to understand.
Thanks so much Sherry! 🥰
I agree, you are a joy to watch. Thank you! Great tips. I love the Behr mixture. I think the results tend to be better. I have gotten more amazing results with it.
Aww thanks so much Kimberlee! I’m so glad the Behr has worked out well for you!! 💜
Beautiful. I love that you talked through your pour too :)
Thanks Mandy! Haha! I know, I know .. I’m working on talking a bit more so we’ll see, sometimes it trips me up though and I don’t talk at all so you get music ha! One of the things I’m going to work on in the new year! 😊💜
Wow! This is a beautiful painting
Thank you so much! ☺️
Love when you use these colors!
Thanks so much Valerie! 😃 I seriously can’t get enough of this combo! 💜
Incredible butterfly vibes.
I truly love it.
Another awesome creation Jodie!!!
It totally does doesn’t it 😃🦋, thank you Netty! 💜💜
Thank you for showing your test I will definitely try some of your techniques. Awesome work
You’re very welcome, thanks!! Have fun!! 😃💜
Loved this so much! So beautiful! Thank you for sharing! 🌟🌟🌟
You’re very welcome Aneerah, thanks so much!! 🥰
Great video! You explained things well, the colors are fantastic. Thank you🤗
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that and I’m so glad it helped! ☺️💜
Jodie thanks so much for the info. They both turned out beautiful 👍💕
Absolutely! Thanks so much Danielle! 🥰
Jodie, I went to try your PM recipe, yesterday... when I opened the Gliden and stirred I was shocked by how white it was. I painted a piece of cardboard and put it aside. It totally did not dry clear. After 8 hours it was definitely a milky white clearish streak. I set it aside.
For me, I use Behr 8300 with Polycrylic. 2 parts Behr to 1.5 parts Polycrylic. Totally stolen recipe from Karen @ Waterfall. I know when I was with her last time, she even changed that to 2 Behr and 1.1 Polycrylic.
I love your color choices, your embellishments, and your analytical mind!
Personally, I prefer your talking to the music. 🎶🎵
Thank you for your videos. I hope your channel keeps getting more (well deserved) subscribers!
-Elise
Hi Elise! Yea, that Glidden does have some titanium white in it but when you mix it up with your paint, for me anyway it’s just a hair lighter and I love the effects it gives me when combined with the Minwax. I also originally put it in my Behr to thin it out but this poly really thins it out nicely! What can I say I’m late to the game as always haha! 😬. I have a hard time settling on just one PM though I like the effects both give me, so for now stick with both 😃. But I may give Karen’s recipe a go (I just love her!) because I can’t help myself with experimenting!
I get it about the talking to music but my problem and probably something I have to work on is if I’m not trying to teach something and I’m just painting I’ll forget to talk because I’m concentrating on the painting or if I’m trying to think of something to say my painting vibe goes down .. but I’ll work on it 😉
Thank you so much for your kind words Elise, it really does mean a lot to me! 🥰
Stunning! I think I like the second one best! I love your videos!❤❤❤
Thank you so much Sheila! 😃🤗💜
Awesome, and thanks for sharing your experiments, and information!

Hi Jodie, once again thanks so much for your informative and helpful experiments and tips. Love love love your color choices and works. Happy New Year and best wishes for 2021.
Hi Sybil! Thank you so much and Happy New Year to you! I wish you nothing but the best for 2021! 🥰
Great video! Very informative! Thank you.
I’m so glad Lynn, thank you so much!! 🥰
Very pretty, I like that you used both cell activators 😻✌️
Thank you Harmony! 🥰
Thank you, thank you. Glad you've gotten on board with the polyacrylic. It's much easier to obtain here in the states and cheaper as well. I use it with Amsterdam paints (sometimes in different colors than black and white), the Minwax stain conditioner, and American Fleotrol as the CA and get great results. Just can't bring myself to pay the high price of the Aussie Fleotrol. And yes you're right the Glidden bases 1-3 are thinner than the Behr bases. Thanks again for a great tutorial!!
You’re welcome Joe 🤗 the polycrylic does work nicely with this pouring medium mix however I’ve now using the Varathane with the Valspar Ultra base, it works better for me and doesn’t give me issues when drying. They all work, it’s just personal preference and how it works in your environment. I am also here in the US so everything on this channel you can get, even the Australian floetrol if you ever want to try it. It goes a long way and I’ve even combined it with the US floetrol to extend the length of it. Have fun Joe 🤗🌺
May I ask, do you use the water or oil based stain conditioner? Different ppl like different types, I’m trying to find out what differences there are. Thanks.
Cool info as always. Just used your Behr, Glidden, Josonja recipe yesterday for some pigments, and Glidden, Minwax for my paints. Loved the results. You are right about the Behr mix being thicker though.😊
Thanks Linda! I’m so glad they have worked out well for you too! I think I might use this poly with the Behr/Glidden mixture once I run out of what I mixed up with the JS as the poly thins it out nicely! ☺️
Very beautiful!
Thank you Della 🤗🌺
Oh so beautiful Jodie!
😃 Thank you so much Melissa!! 💜💜
This is my new favorite color combo 😍🤩 You did such a great job creating those cell structures on such a tiny canvas! Thanks for being the brave experimenter for all of us! My SO is on the way home with the polycrylic I just sent them a screenshot of 😆 Your energy and enthusiasm are infectious 🎨🌈💖
It’s such a great combo, it’s is my absolute favorite but recently I’ve been playing around with it using pigments in these colors or half pigments half paints. So give that a go too! Have fun Angel!! 😃💜🌺
Beautiful colors n work
Thank you so much! 😊
Well done my friend!! Bravo! These colors do work extremely well together, you don’t have to convince any more than you did because you’ve done a good job the first time around! lol 😂 I’ve been at this just a few months longer than you and I’m struggling with any success with my blooms! I’m just about ready to throw in the towel in frustration! Then, Low and behold, I run across your video! It was meant to be! You’ve inspired me to keep going and to use your recipes and hope for the best! Wish me luck 🍀 and thank you so very much! I’ll let you know if I have achieved success! 💜❤️💜❤️
I’m so glad you found me, dooon’t give up, I know that frustration SO well! My problem was I kept trying new ingredients like hey maybe that will work better, then I made myself stop and just practiced and practiced with what I had until it clicked. Now, I do a lot of experimenting on this channel but they ALL work, I just wanted people to have options in case of budget constraints or availability, etc. Keep me updated on your progress or if you have any questions, and most importantly have FUN! 🤗💜🤗
Thank you so much for the tip, I got those mini canvases too, to practice on!
You’re welcome! They are awesome to practice on AND if they turn out great you can varnish and stick them in a frame! 😃
@@ThePaintedDreamer oh ok, yeah that’s true! Thank you you’re so helpful and kind! 🌟🌸🌺
Revisiting this one... for a moment there I was afraid you were going to say something political...took a deep breath and groaned...but you didn't! Yeah!😊 I'm really appreciating your channel! Thanks so much!❤️
Lol nope, just art here 😉. I’m so glad and you are very welcome! 🤗💜
Thanks Jodie!😁. I still don’t get that gorgeous definition in my lacing & cells like you!☹️. Covering them has definitely helped!
Absolutely Sue! Keep at it and adjust if you need to, you’ll get it! I’m so glad covering has helped! 😃💜
OMG awesome.
Thank you Laurie! 🥰
The Minwax worked better, beautiful!
That Polycrylic is something isn’t it! I do have an environmental issue with it though, right now when I’m using it because it’s so cold here and in my studio the humidity is very low when I use it, it’s been drying a little weird. Only the pieces using that varnish.
Very beautiful vibrant colors 😀 love how these came out 😀 thanks 😀 best wishes ❤ Stacy Nicolle
Thank you so much Stacy!! 🥰🥰
Very lovely
Thank you so much Domi! 🥰
Love your work and appreciate your detailed teaching methods. We like that you are doing a lot of the test work for us! I was wondering if you have tried doing that thing with the scraper where you lift the overflow paint and use it over another piece creating different variations. You know what i'm talking about, lol. Love you! Great fun watching you. Thank you.
Thank you Judi, I’m so glad my videos have helped! I usually don’t get a lot of overflow paint anymore to be able to pick it up and use it for something since my pieces are a lot bigger now but if I do I may give that a go 😃🤗💜🌺
Great video, Jodie! Omg. They turned out gorgeous ❣ 😍
I'm still trying to find something at Ace Hardware that works, as that is the only store I have in my little town. 🤣
Thank you Jodie! Have you tried the Clark & Kensington Premium Interior/Exterior hi-gloss enamel the Neutral Tint Base? I’ve heard of others getting it there and use it with success.
I loved this video and results! Amazing and gorgeous!💞🖤💞I too am in IT girl by day with Spectrum Enterprise and new to fluid art! Going to take the course..in two weeks I’ve already become addicted and spent a commission check I feel on products, paints and accessories!😂😂🙈🙈
Thanks so much Amy!! I was in IT for about 15 years and have a love/hate relationship with it 😂😂 .. I absolutely can relate to errr buying products, I’m told a lot that I have a Michaels/blick/Home Depot store in the basement 😬 .. just a warning, it never ends! But I’m so excited you’re going to take the course! Let me know if you need anything or have any questions! 😊💜
Beautiful
Thank you Donna! ☺️
Your blooms experiment our pretty
Thank you Constance! 😊
I’m in IT so can relate to the testing!
Yessss!! 😂☺️💜💜
I love the color combo! I prefer the poly over the JoSo I found the Jo So was thicker but it really thinned down my paints to a totally different consistency and it separated and sat on top of the paints so mixing them up was not as easy as the poly! Glidden poly is my go to and I didn't see any difference between the two in regards to how they dried the colors were both vivid so I'm happy with this PM. I love the behr/glidden/poly!
Thanks so much Jenifer! Yep I hear what you are saying about the poly, I like to use it too for it’s thinness but in the winter it dries weird here for me so I can’t use it all the time 😑. My first love the Glidden, I think that PM will always be my favorite favorite as it just works, and works well and I agree I never really noticed my colors to be not vivid but it does subdue pigments which I like but you get the best of both worlds when you add a little Behr! I’m so happy you love that medium and it works well for you!! 😃😃💜💜
Yes it's working great lol I have 4 different ones but the behr/glidden/poly is working so good it might just be my favorite! Thank for all the work you do but I know it's not work it's fun!
@@jeniferinps oh awesome! I’m so glad!! ☺️☺️
Unique style🌹💖

Yay it worked for you :) I just tested Sherwin Williams Canadian (like HGTV) with Varathane poly, 3:1 by weight, with paints, and it worked, yay!! :)
Yes! I totally dig it!! Oh that’s awesome! Is it something that you can only get in Canada?

Thanks for sharing!! If you don’t mind can you please show how is your spinner??
Oh sure I can add that to my next video (Sunday), today’s is already uploaded for release, thank you Rosario! 🤗💜
These are both gorgeous and so similar I’m wondering why one wouldn’t stick to two simple products ( Glidden & Poly) instead of adding yet another product ( Behr untainted base )?!? Have you ever done just Behr and polycrylic (1:1) and gotten such spectacular results ? Txz so much for the shares! Jeanne
Hi Jeanne! Thank you! You can totally use just Glidden/Poly if you want to but there are options that I like to show. The Behr is just so clear but doesn’t work well on its own because it’s so thick and super glossy so I like to get the benefit of it by adding a little into other bases especially if they need to be thickened up a bit. So that’s my reasoning but you can definitely use either one alone. The Behr I can’t get to work on its own, I’ve tried many different times with different varnishes, different ways of mixing and the cells end up shifting too much and it always cracks when dried so I’ve given up on that base by itself. So, it’s a thickener for me now 😃🤗💜🌺
Thank you for showing it dry!
You’re very welcome Melina 💜
2022 sucked, here we go 2023!
I hope 2023 is good to you 💜
Have you tried the Poly + the Jo Sonya? That is my favorite. These were beautiful!!
Thank you Rebecca! I haven’t tried combining them yet, that might be another option with the behr/Glidden to thin it down a little if I still want to use the jo sonja. Thanks for that tip, does it work well for you combining them?
@@ThePaintedDreamer I tried it early on and got much better cells with the combination than with the Poly alone. I can't remember if I tried the Jo Sonja alone or not. At that time I was having trouble getting the Jo Sonja, so was looking for an alternative.
@@bstanevich ok good to know! I’m definitely going to give this a go then, thanks for letting me know! 😃
Thanks for posting, it's exquisite the 3 colours, your CA and I wasn't sure what the Mini Wax provided? You used it to thin your pouring medium? Thanks Jenny
Hi Jenny! Thank you so much! So the Minwax is part of the PM I was testing out .. my usual PMs that I use for this technique are videos #46 & #30 if you want to see how I mix them. Basically what I’m doing here is replacing the varnish portion in those PMs with the Minwax Polycrylic to test and see if it performs as well as what I normally use. ☺️
@@ThePaintedDreamer Many Thanks
Hey Jodi, love love your channel and how awesome you are. I have a question, I bought the Atelier red gold jar and its not creamy its like chunky or it kind of seems dried out, so I ordered another one and its the same way, is your red gold paint the same way or am I just getting bad jars LOL? Thanks in advance🥰 also what would you recommend to make it less chunky if I can?
Hi Misty! 👋🏻 How are you girl?! 😃 Hmm that jar of the red gold doesn’t sound right, it shouldn’t be chunky or dried out at all. I usually buy the smaller tubes but I have their titanium white in the jar and it’s super thick but still creamy. The tube of the red gold I have is super thick but again creamy, however when you mix it with your PM it takes forever to mix as it gets chunky first but the more you mix the more it dissolves. Maybe that will work for the jar you have? Have you tried mixing the crap out of it like no joke 5 minutes. I wonder if you can mix it with some GAC 800 or another acrylic extender to thin it out a little before mixing it with your PM. Let me know how it goes! 💜💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer Thanks for the suggestion, so it wont hurt if I add some GAC or something to it, wont mess it up to use with all different techniques lol.
@@MistyNelsonMysticGIGI It shouldn’t. I use the GAC 800 after I’ve mixed my paints to PM and if they are still to thick I add in a bit of GAC to thin it .. I’ve even used US floetrol (they say you aren’t supposed to but worked just fine lol!)
@@ThePaintedDreamer ok cool, thanks so much for your help hun!!
@@MistyNelsonMysticGIGI Absolutely!
I’m going to try the 2nd PM, but I’m going to use my HGTV UDB, I have 4 gallons of it, I have to make it work. So you don’t use Jo Sonja GV at all? I have a ton of that too 🤪. When I find something in stock I buy and buy! Now, when is the blowing technique video? Thanks again for your efforts to experiment and teach. I bought the Red Gold, it is a beautiful color.
Oh my gosh haha! That’s awesome that you have 4 gallons of it! I never did use it but a lot of people think of that as gold so you are good! I do still use the jo sonja gloss varnish in my Behr/Glidden however after testing this polycrylic I might either substitute it now or add it with the JS in that PM mix. I liked how the poly performed with it. But I do have a ton of Jo Sonja so it’ll have to get used haha! 😂 .. wellll I may not do a separate video on blowing haha! I think there’s enough of that demo in my #36 😂😂😂 .. but we’ll see. That red gold is by far my most favorite orange ever .. I’m glad you got some! 😃
Ok so I’ll wait for the total Behr/Glidden/JS/poly ratios. I have the Poly too, I use it to thin when they are on the thick side. I painted all day and scraped everything.
@@tcridenour1 I’ll have to test the ratios if I’m going to add it in conjunction with the jo sonja but when I do I’m going to start at 2:1:1:.5 .. Behr/Glidden/JS/Poly if you want to get a head start 😉 .. sorry to hear you had a scrape day, ugh!! I have those myself if it’s any consolation 💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer I don’t believe it. Lol. Not a great day to be scraping all day, just when new Piggies go on sale tomorrow.
@@tcridenour1 True story!! You’ll get your groove back, just step back, breathe and regroup .. I think the new piggies are dropped the 5th so you have an extra day 🥰
Thank u!
You’re very welcome Kathleen! ☺️
Still working on my first pours and finding my way. I love this video but have one question. I see so many using a torch to not only get rid of bubbles but then after to bring up cells. You did not yet you got really beautiful bloom / cells / lacing. Is this the mix called the cell activator?
I defer to Jodie to explain the cell activator, this is not silicone... but I will say: Torching with house paint is Ill-advised. Some do it, but the house paint additives can burn 🔥 scorch and are more toxic when volatilized. Popping with the skewer is better.
Elise is correct about not using a torch with this technique, the blooms technique is a bit different than other acrylic pour techniques in that your pouring medium base you are utilizing house paint and varnishes which can burn easier and be more toxic when heated up so you wouldn’t want to use a torch with this. The cell activator (the black and white) I put on the top before blowing it out is what produces the cells and is unique to this technique. It consists of Australian floetrol and I use Amsterdam titanium white and oxide black for the paint portion at a 4:1 ratio. Hope this helps! 😊
@@ThePaintedDreamer Jodie - out of curiosity, do you do your 4:1 ratio based on weight or volume. I’m assuming weight.
Actually by volume or in my case by teaspoons because I make smaller batches. I’ll do 4 teaspoons (which I believe is 20ml, 5ml each) to 1 teaspoon (5ml) of paint. Sometimes using weight can work against you if you are trying to get equal parts but the density/weight of both products are different, but you could still do it that way with adjustments 😊
@@ThePaintedDreamer I wondered. Titanium oxide white is so heavy. But for This week, it’s working. May go to volumetric when it stops working. 😉
♥. Can you not torch the bubbles? due to the poly? Correct me if I missed something... You mixed the poly and paint only to get those cells? Beautiful
Thank you 😊 Yes, the poly & paint mixed together is your pouring medium and then the cell activator is put on top to create the cells 😊 .. I have sort of a beginners tutorial I did to understand the blooms technique a bit better if you’re interested, it’s video #36. Torching the bubbles with these products isn’t advised as the pillow paint scorches real easily and the pouring medium mix with the varnish is not only flammable but can be toxic if you heat it so, no, no torch please. Hope this helps 🤗💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer yes. Thank you so much for the info.
@@ThePaintedDreamer a
I used deco fluid art ready to pour straight out the bottle
Oops I just saw your second post. Ready paints are good to begin with, are you using silicone as well and what is the technique you are using, straight pour, flip cup, etc.
Beautiful. Where did you get the containers your paint is in and are they easy to close? I use the dollar tree brand and something they are hard to close.
Thanks Carol! 🥰 those lidded containers I get on Amazon and I think they are pretty easy to close, yes, and they are airtight too which is what you want. I have 2oz ones in my Amazon storefront (link is below in description box) if you want to have a look at them or find comparable ones 🤗💜
I just started pouring 4 days before christmass in black light and I'm hooked but having trouble getting cells. Is my paint to thick?
Without knowing what you are using and how you are using everything meaning what technique I can’t really say. Consistency does play a role when trying to achieve cells, so does the density of your paints as well as any cell activator or enhancer like silicone or some other mixture like what I use floetrol/paint. 😊

Do you have a beginner video for this? Gliton. Can u use interior/exterior ? That’s what I bought.
I have a beginners tutorial for the blooms, I think it’s video #36. The Behr 8300 I sometimes use is interior/exterior so you probably could it may just depend on the brand and how it responds. I can only comment on what I’ve actually tested and used. But if you have it, totally give it a go and see what comes of it! 😃💜
Thanks for sharing your experiments! would you mind telling me where to purchase Australian floetrol? This is my first time trying to buy it- so not sure if its because of covid restrictions that eBay says it can't be delivered to my location.
You’re very welcome! If you look in the description portion of the video (click down arrow) I put a lot of links there from my videos and where I get the Australian floetrol is listed as well! 😃💜
Where do you put the miniwax. In, it is very pretty
Thanks so much Mathilda! The Minwax Polycrylic is part of the pouring medium 🤗. Your pouring medium for the blooms technique is part untinted base paint and part varnish. I was testing out the polycrylic as a varnish for the PM in this video 💜
HI I love your experiments. I have two questions, 1 What is the brand of spinner do you use? and 2, I have a large commission I'm doing and a I want to protect it with minwax polycrylic as a lacquer type protectant
Hi Jack 😃👋🏻 thank you so much! The spinner I use while I don’t know the brand name, it’s an off brand, it’s in my Amazon Storefront (link is in description box below the video) under paint & pouring supplies. It’s a metal cake spinner so you can check that one out or search for something similar. I’ve never used the Minwax polycrylic to seal my pieces so I can’t comment if it’s good or not for that. I use Liquitex Professional varnish when I varnish a piece 🤗
Me again. I figured I would use artist acrylic ivory black because that's what I have on hand. I mixed it with Floerol but I didn't get any cells. Is the problem the Artist acrylic or did I use the wrong ingredients for the AC? I really thought I was paying attention
Which floetrol are you using for your cell activator Jack, Australian or US?
Hello 👋 nice video 👋 good luck 👍 😀 regards to the
Thank you 🤗🌺
I ripped off similar colors (giving you credit and pointing people here) and while mine came out good it’s not as beautiful as yours. Great work!
Thanks so much John! Please use the combos you see, it’s why I post them but I absolutely appreciate the give back 😊💜😊
Why dont you use the torch for the air bubbles?
Hi Louise, believe me I’d love to but with the ingredients I use the house paint and the varnish in my mediums, house paint scorches real easily and then the varnish is flammable as well as toxic if heated so I have to combat the bubbles in other ways. So if you are using similar things I really don’t recommend it 💜
I tried the 2part Behr, 1 part Glidden, 1part midwax and it was so thick. Do you add water when you mix your color?
I don’t usually like to add water as it can degrade your paints if you add too much. You can add some more of the Glidden to thin it, GAC 800 if you have it, another acrylic extender to help thin. I’ve even used a little US floetrol to help thin and it seemed to work ok. Next time you mix it up maybe try flipping it to 2 parts Glidden and 1 part of the Behr that works well too. Are you using the Minwax one coat or the polycrylic? Either work well but if you have some of the poly you can try that instead it’s a bit thinner. Hope this helps! 😊💜
Hi Painted Dreamer! Can I use just 3 parts Glidden Base 3 and 1 part Minwax Polycrylic for my pouring medium without using the Behr 8300? I can't get the 8300 in Hawaii, there's only 2-8300 here. TIA!
Hi Kelly! You absolutely can use the Glidden alone but the polycrylic is a thinner varnish and with the Glidden also being thin you may need to adjust your base:varnish ratio to accommodate. My favorite varnish to use with the Glidden is either jo sonja or Minwax One Coat. ☺️
Maybe you can Kelly the 2-8300 is the NEW title..for the 8300...
And Jodi you mentioned Cracks in your Blooms...maybe add a little of the Golden Gac 900...900 works IT Girl🥸
Thanks Cheryl ☺️ .. I use GAC 800 when I need to thin my paints sometimes but the cracks I mentioned usually I’m leaving too much paint on and GAC won’t fix that solely, need to take more paint off 🤣 .. I laugh because it’s a lesson I continue to teach myself lol! 💜
Before you even start, isn’t the polycrylic much thinner? I’m thinking I would have changed my ratio, but, let’s see!!
Hi Rebecca! It is much thinner than the jo sonja but with the Behr/Glidden I think it’s perfect. I might not use it with just the Glidden and stick with the Minwax One Coat as it was on the thin side .. or like you said maybe change up the ration to 4:1 instead of 3:1. The other ratio for the Behr Glidden poly 2:1:1 actually was a dream I was pleasantly surprised!
I'm. Wondering why you don't make a bigger bloom canvas??
Hi Paulette 😊 .. usually when I’m testing things I’ll do on smaller canvases so I can see what I want to see and also so I’m not wasting a bigger canvas and paint. I do have videos where I’m not testing and just painting with bigger substrates 🤗. I will say when starting the blooms technique it is easier to start out small and gradually go bigger as it can be challenging getting the results on a bigger surface at first 💜
thanks for that...
Where do you get the little spoons? I have not found them.
Amazon, there's a link in description box
Melissa is correct about my stir sticks, there’s a link in the description where I get them on Amazon. But I don’t know if you’re also referring to those silver little spoons with the long handle I use for pigments .. I get those at the dollar tree in the party section 😊💜
I want to this straight for the pour mix use
You use the same pillow paint mixed with the varnish 3:1, how much of the color paint do you use
If you want Kathleen check out one of my latest pouring medium mixing videos (they are in the PM Mixing playlist) to see how I mix paints I mix some at the end, I don’t measure or use ratios because every single paint is different but at least you’ll get a visual. I mix them the same way regardless of PM used ☺️
The second one seems more vibrant to me....
That’s the Behr 8300 addition, while it’s tricky using on its own, added in to the Glidden or other paint bases it just adds to the richness 😃💜🌺
What is your pillow recipe? I’m a little confused
Pillow paint is used straight from the can there isn’t a recipe for it. Just straight up paint. 😊
What kind of spinner do you use
I use a metal cake spinner from Amazon, I have a couple of them in my Amazon Storefront (link in description box below my videos) if you want to see what they look like. I also just recently got a bigger spinner from a friend of mine who makes them so my current videos will have that spinner as well 🤗
@@ThePaintedDreamer Thank you very much you are so informative. I love what you do it is so beautiful. I have tried my hand at Bob Ross style of painting and had pretty good success also have picked up the airbrush, I have no training and what you do is awesome. I am ready to learn
Thank you
@@rickhull4695 Thank you very much Rick, I appreciate that :). I am self taught as well with Fluid Art, I would love to know learn to brush paint and I absolutely love Bob Ross, his style is definitely on my list to give a go! :D
Ive been using floetrol but want to get my hands on Australian floetrol and of course this web site is sold out..
The Australian floetrol from the fluid Art company yea they must have sold out quick they had a smaller shipment come in a few days ago but another one is on the way I’m hearing. I also order directly from Australia at The wholesale paint group on their website, link is also below, with shipping the price turns out to be about the same and a liter lasts a long time if your interested in that route ☺️
Whats the size of the spinner?
The spinner is 12” diameter, I have a link to it in my Amazon Storefront in the description box below the video if you want to check out more of the specs on it. It’s metal so it’s gives it good weight 😊
WD-40 Lubricant Spray?
For painting I have not, for squeaky things around the house, I have 🤗
@@ThePaintedDreamer I will test for a medium and cell devopler.
@@NO-WAR-WINGS WD40 is a solvent, not a lubricant
@@nobrainsnoheadache2434 Water Displacement, 40th formula. they're are trace lubricants in this product to quickly evaporate preventing fires during usage.
Now be gone brainless troll.🤪
