That's the point of organising this race in Val di Sole, a well-known winter sports centre, to prove that it can be a good race on the snow too, to make CX eligible for the Winter Games. Looks like hell to ride but fun to watch!

I used to love riding my MTB through the snow, when i was young. But today it's too dangerous for me. I wish you that you do not fall and successfully compete in the race. Much luck!

all this people talking about cold and ice: have they ever been in the snow? You can tell from a distance this is not snow but porridge. And ice is porridge that is frozen. Which it isn't here.

Great recon and that’s always the way you crash on snow.,. Front wheel loose the grip and washes out under you. Snow is much more difficult than sand or mud. Nice to see the pros tackle it. If it looks difficult for the most skilled riders in the world then it is. Good luck at the race. We’ll be cheering for you!
Genieten???? Grootste gedeelte is een troep!! Wat wat je wel weer bijna niemand zult horen zeggen. De renners niet want niet goed voor het imago. Paar uitzonderlingen daar gelaten. En commentators, journalisten (bestaat dat vak nog?) niet omdat ze er niets of iig weinig van snappen.

Dat ziet eruit als een extreem zware cross. Ben benieuwd in wie zn voordeel dat is. Succes met de laatste voorbereidingen en uiteraard veel succes morgen! Laatste stukje na de wissel zag het er al een stuk beter uit;) Overigens knap dat je de balkjes zelfs hier springt;)
@@Quintendejong123 When I wrote that it sure wasn't and predictions were similar. And included rain. That fell but the temp went down a little. An effect that shouldn't be overlooked is the cold that comes out of the soil. Which froze the melted snow and fallen rain. All together giving a crazy parcours which in my opinion is on the edge. I wonder what preparation has done. What's best? Didn't they remove to much snow? That works as isolation. But can give way too much resistance. Tires have too little support base. That's why mankind has invented skies, sledges, snowshoes. The UCI should allow wider tires, other frames.

Wow, what a challenge to ride let alone race in the snow. This will definitely be well worth getting up at 4am here in the states to watch you race and hopefully you will bring home another win. Question for you, I see that you were out on at least two separate bikes. What kind of different setups were you trying ?? What tires are you using and are were you using different tire compounds or just trying out different tire pressures or ?? Good luck, we will be cheering you on from the Olympic Peninsula 📣

Snow seams like a combination of sand and mud at the same time. The track feels very heavy. I’m cheering for you and Mathieu.

It's 6 degr. during the day and 3 at night and it rains....... Killing for snow. And indeed circumstances for a MTB. But more for a stationary ride.
