Oh my, so many beautiful koi this time, especially those dark red and white? Didn't catch the variety but they looked VERY special. Oh, and them butterballs at the end! Hilariously charming little ones. Glad to see more of the "odd" but beautiful fishes as well.
I don’t know whether it is just because they know you now and trust you but they all are so welcoming and happy for you to wander around the pools filming. BTW - I confess, Doitsu Showa are also my favourite fish. 😍
Seeing the fish house under construction gives a much better perspective on how large the ponds are and their respective filtration as well. It is interesting in that the Japanese breeders focus more on biological filtration as opposed mechanical unlike the UK and Canada where a mix of bio and mechanical filtration is more the norm. If it's only red and white, it is kohaku. There is another red and white bit it's not too common.

I like utsuri also. I have a nice hi utsuri. It's not real big, maybe 24 inches, but has a very nice pattern and fairly clean pattern.
